- Last summer at the Phillips 66 National Championships, Olympic gold medalist Kathleen Baker broke the world record in the women’s 100m backstroke. Now that she’s reached the top, the hard part will be staying there. As she prepares for this summer’s FINA World Championships, she’ll lean on guidance from her lifelong coach, David Marsh, and on her own competitive spirit and eagerness to train. Olympic gold medalist and professional swim vlogger Cody Miller also returns to talk about the importance of the swimmer-coach relationship.

My swim team had done a clinic a little while ago. She helped us with our backstroke turns and on my 200 bk I went from a 2:20 to a 2:09!

Who trains at NBAC now? I can’t even think of one who’s there now since Bob Bowman left. Other than team elite, I think Gregg Troy, Dave Durden and Ray Looze all have a lot of pros in their post grad groups.

37 Bill Yea, When I said non-college team, I was *including* post grad groups as college groups as our conversation was based on the premise that we we’re talking about pros. This is just a misunderstanding- we’re literally saying the same thing.

wow i rlly did not know alot about kathleen baker but i swim backstroke alot and it is one of my main strokes other than freestyle and IMs (yes i know im is not a stroke) but this was rlly cool and she is now one of my idols

Hey... I know where that pool is, a swim team used to train there but when u guys came in u took that training place from a lot kids they had to come train with my team and it was really hard cause my team is the one of the smallest teams in California and they r one of the biggest teams in California look, I just think its a bit messed up that they took the pool away from a bunch of other potential athletes
