Thank you so much for having the great Scotty Bowman on the podcast. I was a teenager when Mr Bowman coached Habs and was so disappointed he didn't become GM. That was a huge oversight by Nos Amours and resulted in the their downfall.
Jean Beliveau and Ken Dryden had different explanations why. Dryden said that it was because Pollock had Al MacNeil coaching the minor league team and he thought elevating one of the two to the GM position would cause the other to leave and he ended up losing both of them. Beliveau said that it was because Bowman would demand a player be traded after any mistake and Pollock would have to use all his knowledge and experience to calm him down and explain to him that no player was going to put together 80 perfect games. He feared the Habs’ roster would change dramatically year-by-year if Bowman was GM. Having said that, it’s hard to imagine that the Habs dynasty would continue as Guy lost his scoring touch not long after and many players, including Dryden and Lemaire, left the team.
I’m 3 months late watching this, that’s the first interview I’ve seen Scotty B on, his stories and memory is outstanding , we need to hear more from Mr bowman there isn’t anyone left that can tell stories from 1930s till now. He’s been a huge part of the league forever.. Mr Bowman please do tons more interviews like these.
Yvan Lambert scored the second overtime goal for the Habs in game 7 against the Bruins. Larry Robinson earlier blasted a shot that hit the back of the net but bounced out. The replay clearly showed he scored but the goal judge and ref. did not catch it.
👍 Great informative stories never heard before. Keep the shows going.I had heard pierre mention on the sick podcast of him starting a new program. Subscribed 😊
Lol.the Habs teams in the late seventies my friend were his best dominating teams..no more then 40 loses in a four yr period while 4cups in row..they were dominate
The man who destroyed the Habs...Tremblay and Houle hired to save Molson beer sales in Quebec during the referendum years. Political as opposed to hockey hiring in my opinion.

Red Wings fan here. I remember when he came to Detroit in 1993. Fun times back then. Glad to see Scotty is doing well.
Amazing episode. Always great to hear from Mr. Bowman and wishing him much health.

Would love to hear Pierre’s take on the senators right now.
Congrats to you guys! This is a fantastic podcast, but can you ever top having Scotty Bowman as a guest? I will stay tuned to find out.

The best coach ever. The only teams I remember are his Wings and they were dominating
Scotty's '76-'77 Canadiens were his best team ever - they lost only 8 games during that regular season and were LOADED with future HOFers.

31:46 Larry Robinson’s fighting
32:24 Photobomb
58:43 Still thinks Gordie Howe is the most complete player.
Senators fan here. Good to see you again Pierre. On behalf of the Sens organization, sorry for how those morons treated you.
And Mario Tremblay ended up screwing Patrick Roy and the Montreal Canadiens have never been the same since.

Scotty Bowman is an incredible icon.
