    We had the big brother of this saw in our workshop, absolutely the best chop/mitre saw I have used. The old Elu was the first which was robust and accurate, but no depth stop for housing, love all of the Makita's they do the job for a reasonable cost, Dewalt who have taken over Elu not the same quality anymore. Which brings us back to Festool, simply the best, they are not DIYer but professional quality. Don't worry about following a brand they are really great tools.

    Hi Arran, nice review, I bought one myself recently and bought the led light with it. Other then you say, it is not a laser light but it is a led light. I have to say I like it very much, so it is effective. But the disadvantage is that you have to turn it one and off. With my Dewalt this was automatic, so unfortunately I still not use to it, to put it off after use. But further, I totally agree with your review.

    Great review, it took me some time to see past your remarkable style for shooting this but at the end I liked the fact that it wasn't edited to perfection, just an honest review from somebody who actually uses the machine and who bought it with his own money.

    I've been watching lots of your videos over the past few months and enjoy them all. I have to say though, this one, properly funny stuff. I'm laughing out loud as I go here. Cracking fun.

      @@lowesjoinery3031 - I picked up one of these last month. Lovely saw. Your review is bang-on, totally agree with the pro's and con's as you set them out. I went for the LED light unit and if you haven't already, you should. A brand-whore needs his bling. ;)

    Blew my mind when i discovered the slot near the adjust knob... any bits that fall into the cut trough can be slide out there, quick style :)

    Thanks Arran. Never had anyone make a TH-cam video for me before based upon a comment so big respect to you mate. Looks like based upon this I will need to sell my soul, body and raid the kids piggy banks so I can become a Festool tool. Thanks again and great video.

    Are the depth stop and saw arm rigid enough to do accurate trench work in 4x4 for mortise joint prep ? Great video.

    • @lowesjoinery3031
      @lowesjoinery3031  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes mate.. i would say... its a big thing for me for the saw to have a trenching feature... im a big fan of it

  • @DRJMF1
    @DRJMF1 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So I look for a used Festool, but if not, then which Metabo or hikoki would you select to process 4x4 inch timbers. Comes to me in 3 m lengths and I must cross cut to 1.5m and then trench cut the mortise half joints to lock 2 timbers into a cross shape. I will published a TH-cam video if you tell me the best value accurate saw model with a known accurate depth stop, and keep you informed on progress with the machine. Sounds good to you ?

    Guten Tag . Bitte, ich habe eine Frage. Ist es bei längerer (kurzfristiger) Lagerung der Säge capex x 60 zulässig, die Sägen entweder mit gesichertem Schlitten in der untersten Position (z. B. beim Tragen) oder in der oberen Position (angehoben) zu lagern )? Ich meine, wird sich diese Aktion in Zukunft auf die Elastizität der Feder auswirken, die den Schlitten (Kopf) anhebt? Solche Informationen habe ich in der Anleitung nicht gefunden.

    I am building a mitre station and have an Erbauer mitre saw a massive thing that has rails that run half a mile out the back, so I have been 'forced' to buy a kapex KS60 for it so that I can keep the tool near to the back wall and save space. Can you please explain to my wife that I really 'needed' this saw! 😅

    Good morning Arran, nice review!
    I have only one question: did you face any problem of machine frame bending without placing the front knob on the table as theoretically designed by festool?
    How much is the depth of your table?
    Thanks a lot in advance!

    I’m seriously considering one of these but my only possible gripe would be the right hand mitre cut depth. Online it says it’s only 20mm is that right?

    Just got mine this week well excited.do you know if can fit the freud 60 tooth blade on this as freud kerf is 2.4mm but festool kerf is 2.3 wasnt sure if 2.3 is maximum allowed know the bore matches. Really useful video

    Thank you 🙏 sir. Is it fair to say that the smaller kapex 60 Festool is superior in accuracy to the larger mitre saws produced by Festool, due to better expected inherent dimensional stability of a small saw structure ? Can the kapex 60 cut through a 4x4 inch fence post in 2 cut passes by just turning the straight timber upside down to complete the cross cut. Iam trying to decide if I need this mitre saw, or if a circular saw would do the jobs accurately in 4x4 inch long timbers.

    • @lowesjoinery3031
      @lowesjoinery3031  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey bud... yes it will cut a 4x4 in two passes no problem... i would say the kapex120 is just as accurate as the 60.. they also do a 80 aswell if your wanting something mid range.... ill be honest if this saw died I would probably buy another its a great machine.. i also really do like the look of the metabo forward facing rail saw... but the big big factor for me was the dust collection is A****

    Hello,
    I'm a french little handyman and i was looking forward to have feedbacks about this saw. I have now a metabo kgs 216 m and i have dust everywhere at each cut (even with the festool vac...). Could you confirm me that that ks 60 is much better for dust evacuation ?
    ...hope that my english is understandable...

    • @lowesjoinery3031
      @lowesjoinery3031  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello there... the dust extraction on the ks60 is 99% dust free cutting providing you have a empty bad on the vac... ot will be a massive upgrade from the metabo 100% hope this helps and yes English is fine

      I have a KGS254M, and it throws dust everywhere too even with a 2200w cyclone based extractor - the KS 60 looks like it could be the one for me too. I just need to arrange a another mortgage to buy one :D .. decent review; and I'll add another voice to the other commenters saying that you shouldn't apologise for buying a high end tool when it serves your needs- it'll pay for itself over the years of use you'll get from it, so buy a Festool t-shirt to go with it and enjoy! :D
