As a Chelsea fan me and my mate left 5 minutes before the end and remember getting bricks thrown at us from the fans still inside the ground, so different from today 🤕 ah happy days
Oh my God, that Fairbrother celebration is my earliest football memory. Wasn't this on Match of the Day with Barry Davies commentating? I may have that wrong. I would have been 9 and watching in B&W! Distinctly recall watching with my late father though. Unless Fairbrother subsequently went on to make this his trademark celebration!
Those pitches! Sometimes you couldn't tell who was playing for who. It brings out such nostalgia in me, all that mud. Doesn't happen now, does it? Certainly not at top level.
I was at that game with my dad. We were standing at the north end behind the goal. Probably my happiest time as an ‘O’s’ supporter. Back to earth with a bump next round when we played Arsenal at Stamford Bridge (ironically) and got hammered. It’s not easy being an Orient supporter.
I was there too! And at the arsenal game . Great days! Once an Orient supporter always an Orient supporter! Through good and bad. I’m a James too. Good luck mate
Happy days. I was there on the enclosure in front of the old stand. When it was packed like it was on that day, it was only suitable for tall people like me and my mate because the terrace steps were so low. We had to tell the shorter fans what was happening! Os fans never had many opportunities to boast when they returned to work on Monday but this was one of them. Our bog of a pitch was a great leveller back then.
Reason I am a Man City fan. I was 8 gutted Chelsea lost so switched to the team at the top of Division 1 and it was Colin Bell’s Manchester City. Went to my first game at a Maine Road in May 1972 we won 2-0 vs Derby and the rest they say is history.
My grandad played in this game, his name was Micky bullock
Breaks my heart watching this even now45 years later

Thrown by the Chelsea Shed. My wife nearly died at that game after the thugs of Chelsea pushed forward crushing those in front of and below them.
david jones youre a rentboy
To say that pitch technology has come a long way since then is a bit of an understatement

Loving the comedy trombone for the miss at the end. Also, the groundsman has cultivated a fine bog of a pitch there!
What a comeback!!! Come On You 🅾's! East Londons finest! 💪
As a nine year old Chelsea fan I thought my world had ended.
At 2-0 Chelsea fans must have thought the game was in the bag!

Isn’t that how most City fans find their team
City's earliest glory hunting fan. 😭

One of my favourite games ever. Up the O’s
That game should never have been played. The pitch was a disgrace.
