I'm an American and I've been a Man Utd supporter for over 30 years, but there's nothing I love more than watching these matches. I played as a kid growing up as I'm sure everyone here did. We didn't play on pristine fields of green grass. It was patchy, muddy and lumpy. I would've been 6 when this game was played and I'm sure if it was a Saturday afternoon I was running around on a pitch just like this game. Best times of my life.
As a lifelong Hurfurd fan, THANKS for the title reminding people that this was no fluke result, but a REPLAY after a well-deserved 2 all draw at St James Park.
If anyone is not sure the role fans play in football then watch the joy and excitement from Hereford fans when they scored the two goals. Fans will always be there through generations of the same family. As for the club owners and players they come and go. All clubs are about the fans who work a shift during ten week to see there team play. These fans must have had an amazing day
This was John Motson's first commentary. The game was played in the afternoon because Hereford didn't have floodlights. This is what the FA Cup was all about.
Remember watching it on tv , we lived in Merthyr at the time and remember Merthyr playing Hereford in a friendly İ think and John Charles was playing for Hereford
it wasn't hard was it "McDonalds a Fairy" as they sang. In that first attack where "SuperMac" had the argy bargy, you can see Hereford right back Roger Griffiths number 2 lying in the floor in pain after suffering a broken leg but he battled on for 80 minutes - MacDonald was lucky our players didnt hand him one.

Rest in peace John Motson

I'm old enough to remember all of this when it happened, but thanks for reminding me that this was a replay, something I'd totally forgotten!
Madness. Just wonderful.

The man in the tree cracks me up every time 😆

Yep, now the big clubs want to close it down
the pitch was a great leveler...which is ironical really as the last thing this pitch was was level

Well, still magical after all these years. The mud, a truly great goal, homophobic chanting, a team playing well above themselves, wonderful
Love old school football!
RIP Motty.
Back in the day, I had a special type of loathing for Malcolm McDonald.

Malcolm MacDonald, a player who never learned the value of shutting his mouth and letting his football do the talking.
Forever United.
Ronnie Radford!!!
