Thank you for this video on the dash removal. I have been intimidated to tackle this but I can see the benefit to removing it prior to the body shop. I will also remove the non-oem windshield on my vehicle, as I acquired a correct NOS sekurit front windshield with the embedded radio antenna several years ago.

Russ, after re-watching this video in preparation for doing the same on my car, I realized that your dash panel and center console are likely not original. For 944/951’s with a linen interior, the lower half of the dash and the center console are linen colored to match the seats and door cards(as in my ‘88 951). Whereas, in this car, the dash and console are both black, which were used in a car with a black interior. Apparently someone replaced the original dash and center console from a parts car with a black interior.

I got a question regarding the AC System in the 944, is there a sensor which prevents the compressor from running dry? Bought a 944 and planning on fixing the AC system as its not running and are was wondering if I should get a ne compressor right away - bc I assume the previous owner turned the ac on without refilling it.
    awesome series btw
    Greetings from Germany:)

      Hi Sven,
There is a pressure switch on the receiver dryer on the early cars, I think it's also there on the 85/2 and up. Maybe in the high pressure line if not in the dryer. This switch will turn off the compressor when the refigerant is low. If you need more information, like wire color, or any other info, send me the year and whatever info you need. Thanks for watching, we have a lot more good stuff coming.

@Sven Scholz there isn't much that goes wrong in the refrigerant circuit. I've seen the high pressure hose leak at the condenser, or a failed compressor. Let me know what you find. You have a great car there!
