This is probably very similar to nonskid on a boat, have to use more material then you think, and what sticks, sticks.. you are correct, that application bottle is a nightmare
Should never attempt diy flocking. It gives professionals like me a bad reputation when the finish is patchy, fibres laying down and all over the place and you can see the adhesive behind it. Thats exactly why we use pro electrostatic equipment that costs thousands! If you ever need it doing properly, I'm in the UK. Hit me up
In the next video I re-do this with a cheap electrostatic tool - I also make the point about the cost versus getting it done properly. For this car, the second attempt is good enough - but will bear you in mind if getting it done properly. I also mention that I attempted this because I like to try new things, I enjoy it, but in my videos have made a very good case for getting most things done professionally! Ref the reputation, if you have not already you considered starting your own channel? My early videos were filmed on an iPhone with a mic plugged in, and on a tripod. Show different projects before and after. Some tech stuff, about the equipment. Demo's of how robust the finish is - that has impressed me! Have a look at a channel like Pain Society - demonstrates they know their craft, how complex it is, and the people they help to DIY, well, they'd do that regardless, but if they mess it up, that's where they'd go, or who they'd recommend others too.
