- LePera vs Saddlemen Step Up Seats Review for Harley Street Bob!! I have been using the LePera Kickflip seat on my Harley Street Bob for around over 5,000 miles now but I have decided to give the Saddlemen Step Up a chance now. I will go over why I am changing seats and give some first impression of the seat while riding.

Bike looks better every time I see it! You're going to love this seat for sure.
Thank your sir! I like the kickflip but the saddlemen seems a step above
@@TheMotoJawn Agreed!
Great comparison video- in the end comfort is key- and it doesn't hurt that it looks killer too! We appreciate you Moto Jawn
Thank you saddlemen! Great stuff!
Not a Harley rider here, but I had a Saddleman on an 82 Honda 750 Magna and it was delightful. When I bought the bike (in pieces) it came with a Corbin and they may make good seats, but the one it came with might as well have been a railroad rail. It only took a single one hundred mile trip to convince me to get a new seat ASAP. I had very good experience with Saddleman. Oh, and BTW, I started riding in 1960 and when I completed that 82 Magna it was scary quick to 80 or 90 mph.
Awesome comparison. I haven't seen anybody else compare the seat profiles like that. I have a Danny Gray seat on my 07 Dyna now, and it's the width/profile that kills me. The Saddlemen's profile and taper definitely look like the way I want to go. Thanks for the video!
Yeah the width of the rider spot was something I never considered. But the taper of the saddlemen is great!
I have a le pera and you could be right lol I had a step up prior. Gonna give it more time to break in but I put many miles on my step up and it served very well. Thanks
Yeah mine definitely stayed pretty firm. Maybe just preference is some cases I guess 🤷
solid review I appreciate you explaining the difference between those two I've always wondered that kind of stuff
Right on hope it helps!
T he La Pera Kick flip I have for my 2014 street Bob is narrower in the front and does go up to the tank. Have had it for 2 years and still love it. I can flat foot better and moved me closer to the handle bars.
I still have the stock seat on my iron 1200. I found that the more I ride the better it gets. I think my stock seat is just beginning to break in at just over 11000 kms. In my opinion, Harley's are made to last a long time and stiff suspension and seat are a part of the first 10000 of riding a new Harley. And I won't be surprised when my bike hits 75000 and it's still a great bike to own and work on .
Yeah the Stock seat on the iron 1200 actually isn't that bad
Great comparative review. Now 8 months down the track what would you say about the comfort now? Also are you sitting marginally further back (defiantly not forward)?
Comfort is still great even better broken in. Yeah slides you further back noticeably more
@ thanks. That’s brilliant 👍
I always hear how Saddlemens are too hard and never break in, and about how Lepera seats are more comfortable. Sounds like the SDC might be noticeably more comfortable than the regular?
Hey dude! Love your channel mate. Really enjoying the content. I am getting a new Street bob in next couple of weeks and your channel has helped me a lot. I will be upgrading the seat for sure as the standard one sucks. I will be looking at ones suitable for 2 up as the wife will come with me sometimes. Do you think the saddlemen seat would be good for this? Also, where did you get that black petrol cap mate? Love it!! Much love and appreciation brother, from across the pond in England!! Cheers, Grant.
Thanks for stopping by. Got the cap from harley. I think the saddlemen would work for 2 up. But may want to consider something bigger for a passenger

Saddlemen seats are tried and proven. I really like them. I've have different styles for the bikes I ride. What's difficult is finding that right Saddlemen seat for your application, and getting it right the first time. Even I have had issues trying to decide since you can't test ride them. Hopefully the Stepup works good for you.
Being able to test ride them would be a good idea
I have the Saddleman seat with the optional backrest. Made a huge difference in riding comfort and sitting security. The original Sportster seat is so lame.
Yeah the original is terrible
Excellent comparison vedio. Will surely have ago and fit on my 2021 streetbob deadwood green, looks great
👍👍👍
I'm pretty sure that Lepera seat has no gel in the rider area. That would make a huge difference in your ride. Not a fair comparison in that regard in my opinion. I wanted the Saddlemen like yours but it puts you back and even the regular step up saddlemen was not clsoe enough for me. However, Lepera sells a version of the kickflip "forward" that's an inch forward more than the rest. You can order it with the gell. I also think that the tuck and roll is definitely a softer option. The step up diamond stitch I had on my street glide got a bit uncomfortable after an hour. But the step up with tuck and roll on my LRS with gel did not. Way more long ride comfort. With that said if I was taller I'd have the SC saddlemen with gel most likely. For now I'm about to order the Lepera Kickflip "Forward" with gel and tuck and roll. ;). Good thing there are so so so many options for us these days.
The sdc is much more rounded than the regular step up. Regular step up is pure angle.
The sdc seat also has dual foam, it has a softer foam and a denser foam. So you are feeling the comfort of the softer foam. The denser foam will take a while to break in. The standard step up doesnt have the softer foam.
I didn't want saddlemens because I hear it's a brick wrapped with vinyl never really gets comfortable ,the le Pera I haven't tried for decades but some on shovels in the old days. I almost went with Corbin and the shipping and price I should have gone with but they took too long telling me the shipping. so I went the Lucky Daves and from day one it was as if it was already broke in ,soft and your round butt fits in the round seat hold you good and enough support for the back when ripping on me new 2024 low rider st . that with crash bar sets my legs perfect. love the Lucky Daves seat.
I had a la pera on my sporty which was great for about. 150 miles. I have a saddlemen on my Bob but I find it less comfortable. My hips start to ache after about 50 miles. I’m gonna swap out for a soft single seat and am looking for recommendations.
I like regular bench type seats so you can move around and get more comfortable than a seat that locks you in one position. Just my 2 cents. For what HD charges for a motorcycle the seat should be comfortable,if not they should have a choice of seats for you to choose from.
Cheers fellow Philly guy. We seem to have similar tastes in upgrades. The stock seat on my 23 low rider was fine until I got my 8" risers. I started looking for a seat with better back support since I was now sitting more upright. The stock seat was no longer cutting it. One thing I noticed online was the better fit and finish of the Saddlemen seats. So I opted for the Saddlemen SDC with backrest, which is adjustable and removable. Total game changer. High price was helped by the 15% discount my dealer gave me.
Versus the stock I'm a couple of inches higher which I honestly don't like as a shorter rider. The narrow design is fine but watch you don't burn your calf on your stainless pipes like I have. The seat is definitely much more firm than the stock and am hoping for some eventual break-in which I am told will happen eventually. Overall love the seat with it's back support and awesome looks
For sure it's a great seat 👍
Hey Brother, I bought the same bike, only black. I need to get me a new seat, would you happen to have the specific part number for the Saddlemen step up? I sure would appreciate it. Love the channel, thank you so much for your videos :)
Yeah thanks man. I'm not entirely sure on the part number. But the saddlemen site should help by selecting your exact bike
@@TheMotoJawn I'm a new subscriber and hope to meet you, thank you for your channel and all that goes into it.
Those little narrow Stepup Seats dont work for my 6ft 255lbs frame....Its gotta be the Road Sofa's Style...Iam currently running The HD Tallboy 2up Seat...Very comfortably for me and my Lady...
check out the LePera Maverick
@@JohnDoe-mp1yn The Maverik Daddy long legs would have been a good choice....But its $100 more than my HD Tall Boy seat....Plus am happy with it too...
Which one makes you flatfoot the bike better?
Love my saddlemen SDC. BTW are you coming out to the Revzilla meet May 14th?
In philly?
@@TheMotoJawn yup the Philly location.
@@Anhnoles nice yeah I might try to check it out
@themotojawn great review, thank you. I’m in Delaware county, we should ride sometime.
Oh nice shoot me on IG
Does either one put you closer to the handlebars?
No I would say they both slide you back farther
@@TheMotoJawn Ok, thanks. About how much would you say? I’m 5’7” so probably can’t take too much of a change backwards if I wanted the back support. Harley recently came out with a similar style seat called the switchback too.
I have a saddlemen road sofa and a whiplash slipstream and the slipstream wins hands down. the saddlemen seat gives me major hip issues after semi-long rides. On the flipside, the saddlemen seat is more comfortable for my wife, so I have to switch out when she's riding with me.
Always good to have multiple
What's your build? Height/weight
@@matthenry9385 6'3", 315
I have the Saddlemen on order.
i think the le pera touring seats taper narrow like the saddleman.
Yeah some of there different style might
wish the Saddlemen had the gap :( Love that styling gap just like the stock seat.
Yeah I didn't like it as much. I like the tighter fit of the saddlemen
If you put the saddlemen seat for the softail slim on your FXBB you will get a small gap, maybe 1/2".
Where the front of the seat slides into the frame when you put it on just wrap that with duck tap or something, come on man, you got this
Has anyone here tried the Corbin cooling seat?
Saddlemen hands down.
Fa sho 👍
Alright. This is getting freaky. We’ve never met a day in our lives and are building pretty much the exact same bike. Crazy
Lol I'm sure we'll have differences at some point
@@TheMotoJawn I’m sure the little things will be plenty different. Though so far all the “major” mods have been the exact same. Even starting with neighbor haters and moving to a lanesplitter. I think it really speaks for how good these products are. Our bikes look completely different too even with the same products. Thays a really cool thing about motorcycles.
