U're fish r very beautifully
For substrate I recommend sand bc if they eat some it just goes through them. Gravel can be a choking hazard and some rocks, just as long as it’s too big for its mouth. Also for extra extra filtration and to have more plants without worrying about the goldfish eating it, you can get hang on the back pots and you can get Pothos or any house plant (well almost any, you can look up which ones can work) or when you do water changes, you can use the dirty tank water to water plants.

This is such a great addition to your dining room 😍 I use floating plants in my fish tanks (I got the idea from MD fish tanks here on yt) to get rid of the excess nutrients and it helps a ton!! Also snails help with algae and they are so cute ❤️

For your snails you got a year ago I would recommend giving them some bark and sticks to climb on because even though snails aren’t the most intelligent creatures they do love to explore!

That’s quite an upgrade from betta fish! They’re absolutely beautiful, and I love their names. Can’t wait for an update.
They look so so cute! I love how your bare bottom tank looks, but I did want to let you know that some people have run into issues with goldfish on bare bottom tanks, just because of how messy they are and how much work it is to clean the bottom to make it look nice. NOT a major issue at all, and you may not even run into it, but MD Fish Tanks has a couple videos talking about the issues he ran into with the goldfish tank and how he went about adding dark substrate to his tank. He also found some other plants that his goldfish didn't eat, if you wanted more options for plants. Btw, Lilith is actually from Jewish mythology! She was Adam's first wife and became the mother of monsters, after Adam rejected her. I love love love their names and how much you've done to take care of them already. You're such an amazing pet owner.
I had a bare bottomed tank for a while-- I don't think the poop was that much of a problem, honesty. It gathered in corners and wasn't unsighlty, and it was VERY easy to vacuum away all the muck. Plus, I found a bunch of goldfish teeth that way! I do have dark sand now, mostly bc i wanted to try my hand at a planted tank.

Honestly if I got another fish tank it would be 1000%%% goldfish tank. Idk why but they just have such a special place in my heart.

Goldfish water is great for the grass and any garden you might have. When I was living at home and had some fish, I'd always dump the water out into the garden. I swear it made them grow like crazy!

It's always so exciting getting any new pet. Looks like you've done a great job with the tank set up, plenty of room for them to grow :)
With the aquarium hood beware, the condensation within the tank plus the spitting from the filters might make the plastic overheat/bubble as well as leaving the lights on for too long, in my experience I had to get a new aquarium hood from PetSmart and take out the florescent bulb and but a high quality LED light to put in instead just warning you because I don't want anything to happen to the baby fishies 💗 also props for doing all of your research ahead of time

I’m a fancy goldfish owner hang on back filters are just loud and annoying I suggest a canister filter large and extremely quite one I use is a fluval brand keeps the water perfect good luck on ur fishie journey 🐟

Hi Alissa, I love your channel and I just wanted to let you know that goldfish are cold water fish so you really don't need a heater. Also, the API test kit, in my experience is the only really reliable test kit. This video is bringing back memories of ordering from Dandy Orandas. I used to lose fancy goldfish to swim bladder disorder but since I changed their diet to only repashy super gold, I have not had any problems with swim bladder disorder. Now, I am going to have to fight the urge to buy more goldfish! I have a 125 gallon with just 5 fancies in it but I have acquired so many other pets that I am trying to not buy any more fish. I have 6 tanks, 8 guinea pigs, 3 conures and 2 cockatiels plus 5 cats and 2 dogs. I am retired but I am still and pushed for time to take care of all of my animals and my house!

I also highly reccomend a UV sterilizer for your tank, sterilizes the water using a UV bulb keeps your fish from any infections or diseases
You could use contact paper for the stand to make it more aesthetically pleasing
Hey Alyssa! Just wanted to let you know that I have a fish tank like yours and the algae was bugging me to, so I got a bunch of micro snails (you can still see them but they are just tiny), and ever since my rank has been spotless. You don’t need to do anything to take care of them as they feed off the algae. They are also beneficial as they can provide different benefiting bacteria’s to the water.
Laguna is the daughter of the creature from the black lagoon. Great name choices. They’re super cute.
DIY over the stand, some vinyl or paint it To cover up the edges. would save money in the long run.
A trick I learned from having cheap black ikea furniture that looks like that, is to either take a black sharpie or ideally a wood repair kit for scratches with a black marker in it and use the marker to cover the white spots. If you're not super neat like me, what I always do is draw it on and then quickly wipe it off with a papertowel. The color will stay on the chipped parts but wipe off the fake wood and blend a bit better. Just an idea if seeing the white really bothers you. :)

I love you for just being real! I so respect that. I to have wanted gold fish. I so saved some feeders. I do have rather large indoor pond and only a tiny turtle in it. So, I got some Goldie's. They are not fancy, but they will be loved for once in their little life's. I started with 6, and I am down to 3. I am treating them for internal parasites. I also need them to grow a bit before adding them so my turtle doesn't think they are dinner.

I just got like about 12 large goldfish from a friend who had some at her bait shop she sold me all she had left before winter is to hit. Oh, I also live in the south aka Bible Belt. I plan to have an outdoor setup. I plan to do an above ground pond with heater. The ladies grand babies did not want them for fishermen fish bait so I agreed to take them. One has natural white in the tail and mouth so beautiful. Your fish are beautiful and the big tank is awesome.

For the 55gal you only needed 11oz of the beneficial batería. I think that’s why you might have had the algae bloom.

They totally went all out with that kit. If you like fake plants, and if you where not having gold fish, you would be all set. I honestly would 86 that HOB. You could easily add another sponge filter, or there are few different terrestrial tropical plants, that do very well at filtering water. Pothos is most popular, but, it's not the only plant.

I'd try the plants again when you have the fish in. Also I'd ask the breeder how he takes care of there faces. Some cut back there scales so they can continue to see.
