This has got to be the most popular Case knife on TH-cam right now! Great review. I wish it would've been a single blade Barlow. But I have to admit it's a sweet looking bone!

Yes, a single blade Barlow is my preference. On a two blade Barlow, the screwdriver tipped cap lifter would have been cool. I really dig the purple bone as well.
I don’t usually get too excited about Case releases, or even have many of their knives,, but this had to be the quickest I’ve ever grabbed a newly released knife! Case just has the look of the Barlow I’m after, particularly the bolster
Truthfully my two favorite Rough Ryder Barlows (Red Worm & Stoneworx) still have the best w&t of any I’ve handled, including this one. Just wish they’d deviate from the rounded bolster once in a while

Nice review. The Case XX Barlow is an attractive and a functional knife pattern for everyday carry. It’s an “old school” pocket knife, yet the Case build makes them easy on the eyes. When you pull out a Case Barlow, people usually notice and will often ask you about the knife. The fact that they are made in the USA by true knife craftsmen is what makes a Case XX a special purchase. They make a great gift item that would be appreciated by any knife carrying person. While yours does seem to have a few flaws in fit and finish, I’m sure that isn’t the norm coming from the Case facility. Thanks again for sharing this. - Tennessee Smoky
The flaws happen more than I'd like, but it wasn't enough to make me exchange it, so that's on me. Sometnes it's just a matter of not wanting to go through the hassle. Thanks, Tenn.
Love the Barlow, and like you said the shades of purple really jump out in the natural sunlight. I also got one of the Copperlocks that looks really good too. Was happy to see them release another Barlow and full size Copperlock.

I hav all the Rosecraft traditional knives and they are flawless! With the exception of the color of your Barlow, I have not seen any other reviewer complain. Big Red just showed three of their Seconds with 50% discount and he was hard pressed to find the flaws even with a note indicating what it was. I see no reason a US manufacturer like Case should be putting out knives with obvious flaws and still ask premium prices. I like this Barlow and the next time we go to the grocery, I will drop by the factory and see if they have a store...I don't feel confident that I would get one without an obvious flaw shopping online. Case is the only company I see consistently getting complaints. They are a major employer in our region and I would like to support them but they need to improve their QC so they don't follow Ontario Knives.
Mine should have been a 2nd IMO when comparing them to those that were and weren't. I'd have liked to have gotten it at half the price. No worries though, I colored it myself and it looks great now, and you're right the F&F otherwise was great. Thanks, Terrance.

Beautiful example , TK. Ordered the red one, should be coming out by December. Got a 2019 barlow in antique bone, which is also pretty good. Am also glad that they're coming out with more barlows.

Very nice though I agree that for the price you should expect a close to perfect standard. Still sticking to "the list" and I got my Case, a mini Wharncliffe Trapper, got to pick it in person too which is rarer than hens teeth in the UK. Next is an old style Hunting fixed blade, or a wood handled Otter folder.

Nice review. I have the same knife with just a very small gap with the springs. No big deal with me with the gap. My pet peeve is blade centering and blade play and my Barlow is perfect in those areas. So I’m really happy with my purchase of this knife. Also love the purple barnboard jig covers.
Thanks Python. The handles are great, I know they can make knives without gaps so it's frustrating when they are present.
My knife has a small gap between the springs, no thicker than a hair. Both blades stand perfectly straight, in the center. I specifically looked at knives that were released in the seventies, eighties two thousandth. Different limited models. They are all about the same, each has some kind of flaw. I am sure that it is almost impossible to find an absolutely perfect knife, without any claims.

And it’s just too bad since we really want USA made knives to be a step above others.

Lovely Barlow, but Case, above all manufacturers should not release a knife with an obvious flaw like that shown in your review. The “Made In America” mantra carries the onus of unquestioned quality. If they continue to cut corners on their quality control it will soon come around to be their demise. You cannot release flawed knives and expect to command premium dollars. I have noticed that their prices over the past half dozen years seems to have grown exponentially,possibly twenty to thirty per cent. I luckily acquired about a half dozen Case knives five or six years ago. Now I wince at their prices in the SMKW catalog.
Agree on the qc issues, but the prices are just inflation. Almost everything is 20-30+% more than a few years ago, including nearly all knives.
The price undoubtedly limits how many I can buy. I can't drop $70 on every knife so when I do, I really hope for these kinda gaps to be eliminated. It wasn't the "case" with this one.

Mine is so bad it can’t stand on its own! It rolls over on its side! Very disappointed in the quality of this case knife! Looks like a child put mine together!
