Yes, those are the same lyrics that played right before Ragnar died, sung by the same singer but a different version. The full Snake Pit Poetry song that was released for the soundtrack is actually a suite comprised of three distinct sections which play in different parts of the show. The first part is a sorrowful Viking horn melody and was played during Sigurd's funeral in 5x01. The middle part, which is the main and longest part of the song, was played before Ragnar's death in 4x15. The final part is the "Skaldic" version (just the lyrics sung by a single bard with a harp) of the middle part, a simpler and more poetic versions of the full song, and is played her in 6x10 as Bjorn gets stabbed. So the three movements of the suite have been played for Ragnar, Sigurd, and Bjorn now. This episode was a massive production, thousands of extras, different types of ships, everything was actually on fire, not CGI, and they had helicopters flying for those aerial shots. The showrunner said in season 6 they had up to 1,500 crew members on location for production and filming. I think you guys are spot on about your analysis this episode and the state of everyone's minds and what they are thinking. That symbolic conversation between Bjorn and Ivar was very well done, and you can see Bjorn's slow descent into desperation and Ivar's pity at the tragedy that has become his brother and his country, especially because it's everyone's fault including Ivar's that it came to this. But the happy family of brothers was never meant to be, and Bjorn and Ivar especially could never reconcile after what happened between their mothers and after Bjorn prevented Ivar from getting revenge for Aslaug. Everyone is paying the price for the actions of Ragnar and Lagertha from long ago (everyone likes to blame Lagertha for starting all of this, and she played a massive part, but it can really be traced all the way back to Ragnar's actions in season 1 with Aslaug). One detail you might have missed... Ivar let Igor take the credit for the plan to go sail down the river and climb them mountain into the city in order to make Igor look good in front of all the Rus leaders. In the scene where everyone is together planning, Igor says, "Why don't we attack here?" and Ivar makes this over-exaggerated face as if to say "Brilliant idea!" but then in a flashback we see Ivar and Igor by themselves beforehand with Ivar explaining to Igor how they can scale the mountains. Ivar then lets Igor take credit for that part of the plan in front of the whole group, making it look like Ivar and Igor are the masterminds in front of the Rus, which is a very clever and subtle way to undermine Oleg who hasn't contributed to the actual strategy. Ivar has been doing little things like this to undermine Oleg and prop up Igor throughout the season. It's the smart thing to do and it also shows another way that Ivar has matured, he is willing to put his ego aside now. If you guys have the site I linked to earlier, the entire season 6B should be the uncensored extended version, I assume that's how you've been watching but in case the site goes down again let me know.
The song that was playing at the end was indeed Ragnar's death song(Snake Pit Poetry), but it was the skald version by Einar Selvik. In my experience, the final scene was a symbolic victory for Ivar. Ivar outsmarted Bjorn and defeated him in the symbolic battle at the beach in combination with the Rus winning this battle.
Not related to Vikings, but do you have any other upcoming shows you’re gonna react to? I love your reactions, but you guys sadly haven’t watched any shows I also watch since Fleabag, so I’m hoping one might be arrive in the near future.
We have a LOT of shows in mind (some of which we're working on right now so we can start uploading them soon) but if you ever have a suggestion, just go ahead, we'll add it to our list and who know n.n
@@kyuujinreacts Thank you, I’ll keep an eye out! Some suggestions you might like, would be: Outlander, Barry, The Handmaid’s Tale, Twin Peaks, Unbelievable, Gentleman Jack 🤞🏻
Aaah funny you should mention Outlander eheheh And Handmaid's tale has also been on our radar for a bit, it just never won any polls on Patreon, but we already decided we would do the reaction one day n.n just gotta find the right time ;)
Historically there was no Rus' invasion of Norway, (Oleg was a real Rus prince however but had no dealings with Ivar). The Rus kingdom was far too occupied fighting the belligerent Khuman horse nomads on their eastern border, and pursuing their ambitions in assaulting Constantinople and raiding Persia together with Swedes. They did have good relations and alliance withe the Swedes (my people), from where the Rus originally came and whom they at times called upon as mercenaries for their internal fighting which was common among the princely ranks. It is true however that the Rus was a mighty, culturally advanced and very rich kingdom, and the foremost Christian power of the age in northern Europe as the power of Byzantium waned more and more. Scandinavia however was Christianized by peaceful missionaries from Frankia and Germany over the centuries. Denmark converted first, then Norway, and the last pagan ruler was a Swede king known as "Blot-Sven" who was keen on impaling enemies on spikes for the blot sacrifice. He was defeated by his new Christian subjects and impaled himself on a spike around 1087. The first Christian congregation however, existed as early in Swedish Sigtuna as early as the 980's and converted many Norse. So the whole adamant refusal to accept Christ isn't entirely, though partially, true. Norse were curious people, as obvious by their seafaring explorations, and many were very culturally and spiritually open and saw many benefits by aligning with mainland Europe's faith of "White Christ" as they called him. So all in all opinion on converting to Christendom divided ancient Scandinavia quite heavily.
“I know better than to attack my own people with a Christian army” - really, Björn? Wasn’t that exactly what you did in England when you fought for Alfred? Attack your own people with a Christian army? He’s such a hypocrite at times, just like Lagertha used to be. And yes, Ragnar chose Ivar above the others, because he couldn’t have pushed his agenda forward with any of the other sons. He did ask them, yes. But he knew they’d turn him down. I always find it interesting that despite the fact that Ragnar said these things himself, Björn always refuses to believe it. Everything Ivar says here is true, just some of those things will be revealed in a later episode. Btw, I love how upset you get in the end refusing to believe in Björn’s death. 😂 Life does give you lemons at times, not everyone gets the chance to go out with a bang. But it’s a tv show, so we’ll see what happens. 😉
I love how they did the conversation between them intercut with the battle
While i love that ubbe left to carve his own path, part of me wish he was at this battle to have his brothers back
Yes, but at the same time, I fear he would've fallen with everyone else D: as sad as it is, knowing he's safe, away from it all makes this easier

I love Ivar as a character , his journey will only get better from now on 🔥⚔️

To be fair, though, he was never really for partnering up with Alfred 🤷
