Isn’t that something? When watching footage of decades past I always try to put myself in the moment and imagine (re)experiencing an extinct modernity. But whether cars, fashion, electronics, whatever, I can't help but see them as quaint relics. The shiny varnish of newness is gone forever.

Yeah. But if you watch modern Nascar, you just see modern corporate crap going in a circle. Back in the day the old style cars were so much cooler. Like the Chevy Lumina, while it looks like a box on wheels now it was way cooler than what they use now.
i never got a mustang but i considered It, instead I bought a 91 ranger in 1996 used and it was a s-box always broke down. Eventually i got rid of it in dec of 1998 and traded it in for a brand new 99 ranger to this day i still have this vehicle. It was so much better than the 91 generation model and only broke down once in 20+ years

Drove into a Ford Dealership in 1993, pouring rain. No one would even come out of the showroom except their oldest salesman with an umbrella. Bought two new Fords from him that day, one for me and one for my wife. Sold my car privately. That's why he was their top salesman.

I loved buying cars in the 90s....no shortages, every color available and as a percentage of income, the cheapest they've ever been for the American consumer.....oh and they were reliable with a minimum of over-engineered electronics.
I really miss having a true selection of colors. Nowadays even if you factory-select your color, the options are like… white vs. pearl white, maybe a matte color thrown in to spice it up.
People were so friendly and social back then, like the salesperson was so jovial and outspoken. If someone acted like that today, they'd just get weird stares and treated like an alien from another planet

I feel like things changed in late 90s early 2000s… not just a few things but almost everything. Drastic changes and quick… the speed of technological advancements is bizarre. We didn’t have that before. It took decade or more for things to technologically advance in the past but in the 2000s it would be more like a year or two and by then your tech is out of date already.
Crazy how those Tauruses were one of the best selling cars in the country for years and now you literally see none. No Dodge Spirits, no Chevy Celebrities or Pontiac Sunbirds. You’ll still see a Camry or an Accord though. And plenty of Civics, Acuras, and American Trucks. But those family sedans from Detroit are long gone.
That was when the new Mustang rolled out, and the "fox body" came to an end after a decade. I think a lot of those people there were just being tourists who wanted to see one up close.

That greenish/blue Mustang was my first car but mine had the hub caps. Summer of 1997, it was 2 years old and I was about to enter SDSU. Still have it to this day. Over 350k miles on it. Never getting rid of it.

I traded in my 1986 GT that I ordered from the factory for a new 93 Teal Cobra, grey interior. 😁. Think 1300 or so teal ones were built. Later bought 99 then 2004 Cobras. 60 now, I don't like the new stangs, look like toys, maybe my age 🤭

I'm 45. The world started changing so much after about 1987-ish. Everything got better in the 90s. When it comes to cars, the 1990 Z32 300ZX revolutionized the car industry. Made most 80's and older cars look so old!

@@ssj2camaro21 Rounded body lines, modern interior. Tech wise it was a standard ford for the most part. It was a decent car. Ford did some good stuff in the 90s. I worked at a For dealer and drove many of them. The right exhaust tip was not connected to the exhaust, it was fake haha. I was a Mark VIII guy myself.
I remember going to a Ford dealership in the 90’s as a kid. I was a little over eye level with the side scoop on a red SN95 Mustang inside the show room like the ones in the video. That 1994-1998 body style just stood out from all the other cars at the time. Fast forward 30 years and I’m hooked on Mustangs. Great video.
I still remember walking into a dealership with my dad when I was 12 and seeing a 94 cobra convertible and thinking the interior was the most futuristic thing I’d ever seen.
I love it when the sales manager pulls out the n a d a book trying to bring these people's trade-in value down and they're all engaged chewing gum looking down at the book like they're a couple of cows chewing the cud.
This is so cool. Thank you for uploading. That was a great year for Ford. Almost half of their lineup with new that year or almost new. The Explorer the Crown Vic the 94 Mustang the Escort the Probe the Taurus , the Econoline they were all new around that time Ford was killing it.
1994-1998 I was a young man in the USMC. I can't tell you how many new Mustangs I had seen at Camp Pendleton, California and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. I can still smell the 26% APR to this day those Marines got those Mustangs at 🤣🤣 From what I hear times haven't changed with Marines and Mustangs and the 26% APR 😂

I was a lot attendant at a Ford dealer from 1991 to 1995 when I was in high school. I remember waiting for the 4.6 in the Mustang like the customer was, except I wasn't close to being able to buy one. Although I worked in the used car department, I really liked seeing what was coming off the truck, and remember the pop the exhaust made from the 5.0 fox bodied Mustangs when they were new. These old videos are great!
That cringe moment when customers are staring in the engine bay of a brand new car without question or comment, the sales lady with two-tone shoes that look mismatched from the side awkwardly points out the shiny horse, and the sales guy asks if he can close the damn hood yet. Boy I sure miss being in sales. 🤣
Not a 93….but I owned a 92 Buick regal grand sport….it was still to this day the best quality car I ever owned….the first 3.8 3800 series engine…..I put 285,000 on it and it was still driving when we said goodbye…..then I went into a brand new Buick regal grand sport 2001…..that car was the second best quality car I owned….got the same amount of miles outta that one too….these were the best years ever really.
I recall in second grade around Halloween 1993 I had a teacher. named Mr ward he seemed to be a star trek fan around Halloween 1993 he had a Halloween costume of star trek. At Roosevelt elementary masks were not allowed due to impairment of vision . I recall my mother bought me face paint for Halloween.
My husband and I bought our first car in 1994, we had 5 kids and needed room, we bought a 1988 suburban, we still have it to this day! All but one kid is grown and moved out. Happy happy days.

No, not these cars you couldn't. Not even close and I can guaranty you no one shopping at Tyson's Ford in these videos are working for minimum wages. This is one of the richest areas of the country then and even more so now. I lived there just 5 years later and the average home price in that area back in 1999 was near $500,000.

No they weren’t! If you do the math it would be as unaffordable as today! Inflation every year made it more and more expensive, so if you bought a $14,000 car then, and do the math of what $14,000 dollars was in today’s dollars you would flip! It would have cost you $29,830 today. And that was only for a plain Jane car without any options! And peoples salary wasn’t that high back then, average yearly salary at a good paying job was around 26-50 thousand a year. Depending on the profession!

Ahhh...the classis NADA paper book. I remember going to the local library to use it and make copies of my car values. But the dealers always had their secret "black book" used car values that was always lower than the NADA. Always pissed me off.
This is when I started driving, and started noticing and caring the most about cars. I remember seeing those new 94+ Mustangs get popular fast. They still look as nice as they did back then. It's funny hearing a couple people in the video say it's "too small" and uncomfortable for them. I got to drive one once and had the same issue - the seat wouldn't go back far enough. it had less legroom than my Fiero. Too bad. If I heard right, one guy was going over paint options for the Thunderbird and couldn't get the color he wanted on a Super Coupe? Why the hell would they restrict color options on the Super Coupe? That was the most expensive version of the car, give that customer whatever color he wants. If the color option was there for lesser models then why would the factory refuse to spray it on a SC?
The man buying the car looks like he is straight out of the movie Breakin' There's No Stopping Us. He's about 10 years behind, fashion wise in 1993. Driving gloves for one of these mustangs is so funny. The 90s American and Japanese cars I felt were horribly designed and they don't really stand the test of time like other era's. In 1993, I was working at NationsBank, now Bank of America, as an indirect auto lender. I booked nearly $300 million in car loans that year from all over the United States. I don't have proof, but I suspect I made more auto loans than anyone else in the United States during the 1990's. Mustangs were not huge sellers compared to other models and makes, but they did sell a lot of them. As a lender, Ford was not highly thought of as a lender making car loans. I think most people ended up financing through Ford Motor Credit because bank's would not lend over MSRP which most Ford buyer's paid out the door. Lots of bad credit buyers found their way into Ford dealerships because of the easy financing through Ford Motor Credit. However, this Tyson's Ford location, in Tysons Corner Virginia was different. This is one of the wealthiest areas of the US and there were lots of good credit customer's that walked through their doors.

He's right. The 4.6 modular engine didn't find it's way into the Mustang GT till 1995.

I worked at a For dealer and drove many of them. The right exhaust tip was not connected to the exhaust, it was fake haha. I was a Mark VIII guy myself.
I'd buy the Red Taurus SHO sitting next to the convertible mustang.
I remember going to a Ford dealership in the 90’s as a kid. I was a little over eye level with the side scoop on a red SN95 Mustang inside the show room like the ones in the video. That 1994-1998 body style just stood out from all the other cars at the time. Fast forward 30 years and I’m hooked on Mustangs. Great video.
I was 14 back in 2004 and remember being all over a screaming yellow Mach 1 sitting on a showroom floor. I still love 94 to 04 mustangs
I still remember walking into a dealership with my dad when I was 12 and seeing a 94 cobra convertible and thinking the interior was the most futuristic thing I’d ever seen.

This is so cool. Thank you for uploading. That was a great year for Ford. Almost half of their lineup with new that year or almost new. The Explorer the Crown Vic the 94 Mustang the Escort the Probe the Taurus , the Econoline they were all new around that time Ford was killing it.

1994-1998 I was a young man in the USMC. I can't tell you how many new Mustangs I had seen at Camp Pendleton, California and Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. I can still smell the 26% APR to this day those Marines got those Mustangs at 🤣🤣 From what I hear times haven't changed with Marines and Mustangs and the 26% APR 😂

I was a lot attendant at a Ford dealer from 1991 to 1995 when I was in high school. I remember waiting for the 4.6 in the Mustang like the customer was, except I wasn't close to being able to buy one. Although I worked in the used car department, I really liked seeing what was coming off the truck, and remember the pop the exhaust made from the 5.0 fox bodied Mustangs when they were new. These old videos are great!
That cringe moment when customers are staring in the engine bay of a brand new car without question or comment, the sales lady with two-tone shoes that look mismatched from the side awkwardly points out the shiny horse, and the sales guy asks if he can close the damn hood yet. Boy I sure miss being in sales. 🤣

Not a 93….but I owned a 92 Buick regal grand sport….it was still to this day the best quality car I ever owned….the first 3.8 3800 series engine…..I put 285,000 on it and it was still driving when we said goodbye…..then I went into a brand new Buick regal grand sport 2001…..that car was the second best quality car I owned….got the same amount of miles outta that one too….these were the best years ever really.

At Roosevelt elementary masks were not allowed due to impairment of vision . I recall my mother bought me face paint for Halloween.

No, not these cars you couldn't. Not even close and I can guaranty you no one shopping at Tyson's Ford in these videos are working for minimum wages. This is one of the richest areas of the country then and even more so now. I lived there just 5 years later and the average home price in that area back in 1999 was near $500,000.

No they weren’t! If you do the math it would be as unaffordable as today! Inflation every year made it more and more expensive, so if you bought a $14,000 car then, and do the math of what $14,000 dollars was in today’s dollars you would flip! It would have cost you $29,830 today. And that was only for a plain Jane car without any options! And peoples salary wasn’t that high back then, average yearly salary at a good paying job was around 26-50 thousand a year. Depending on the profession!

You won't see that happening much more often. These EV's barely are lasting 5 years without needing a full battery replacement.

I would always go to a liquor store next to my former apartment complex and played street fighter mortal kombat Jay's liquor mart.same location where they filmed a scene for 2011 bridesmaids.and around late 1993 going into second grade.i had developed a crush on Asian girls.and I had a big crush on the late thuy trang.who was first yellow power ranger whom in 1993 was 19 going on 20.not to mention 11 12 1993 first ufc event.

Ahhh...the classis NADA paper book. I remember going to the local library to use it and make copies of my car values. But the dealers always had their secret "black book" used car values that was always lower than the NADA. Always pissed me off.
I was 16 in 93. Owning a mustang was only a dream back then.
This is when I started driving, and started noticing and caring the most about cars. I remember seeing those new 94+ Mustangs get popular fast. They still look as nice as they did back then.
It's funny hearing a couple people in the video say it's "too small" and uncomfortable for them. I got to drive one once and had the same issue - the seat wouldn't go back far enough. it had less legroom than my Fiero. Too bad.
If I heard right, one guy was going over paint options for the Thunderbird and couldn't get the color he wanted on a Super Coupe? Why the hell would they restrict color options on the Super Coupe? That was the most expensive version of the car, give that customer whatever color he wants. If the color option was there for lesser models then why would the factory refuse to spray it on a SC?
The man buying the car looks like he is straight out of the movie Breakin' There's No Stopping Us. He's about 10 years behind, fashion wise in 1993. Driving gloves for one of these mustangs is so funny. The 90s American and Japanese cars I felt were horribly designed and they don't really stand the test of time like other era's. In 1993, I was working at NationsBank, now Bank of America, as an indirect auto lender. I booked nearly $300 million in car loans that year from all over the United States. I don't have proof, but I suspect I made more auto loans than anyone else in the United States during the 1990's. Mustangs were not huge sellers compared to other models and makes, but they did sell a lot of them. As a lender, Ford was not highly thought of as a lender making car loans. I think most people ended up financing through Ford Motor Credit because bank's would not lend over MSRP which most Ford buyer's paid out the door. Lots of bad credit buyers found their way into Ford dealerships because of the easy financing through Ford Motor Credit. However, this Tyson's Ford location, in Tysons Corner Virginia was different. This is one of the wealthiest areas of the US and there were lots of good credit customer's that walked through their doors.
So, Ford was the KIA of financing back in the day🤣
