Nice looking Git-fiddle! As you play is the room quiet and you’re playing into a DAC/DAW? Monitoring with your ear buds? I need to get into that setup. 👍 Don’t want to turn on an amp every practice session … 🥴🤘🥳🏌️
Hi @luvinlife2887, thanks. No, I am plugged into my solid state henriksen jazz amp and am recording that with my zoom h6. The ear buds are to listen to the backing track as don't want the mic to pick that up too. I've never managed to get a sound I feel comfortable with on the computer.
This reminds me of like the Holdsworth sound, I'm trying to wrap my head around whats going on haha! I'm definitely going to transcribe this, you did a killer job, can I just ask do you typically play fourths on one string to get that sound? That's what I'm hearing, I typically go up or down a string when I play fourths but I guess that approach keeps me limited to a smaller range on the fretboard. Really nice playing homie!
Thanks very much Jacob. Really kind of you. Yes, I tend to play fourths on single strings. Playing across the stings is great too but I find both have their place. I practiced a lot of pentatonic groupings to build the technique and the Jerry Bergonzi pentatonic book was really helpful for me and explains a lot of what i'm playing here. Although it took some time to apply it to guitar. Thanks for listening. 🙏
Thanks for the reply, I"m almost done lifting your solo, definitely not up to speed yet but it's been a fun challenge, I definitely haven't viewed the fretboard like this before. I downloaded the Jerry Bergonzi book I'm looking forward to getting into it. I'll book you for a lesson in the future once I get into the book a bit! @@guitarlaurence
@@jacobvalois1717 Thanks Jacob, is very flattering for anyone to transcribe anything I do. Look forward to meeting you in the future. Best wishes Laurence
This is great - beautiful lines, structure, and sound. May I ask: do you have any gain on your Henriksen amp at all? Which overdrive pedal(s) are you using? Good clarity of tone and yet good sustain. Bridge pick up also? Thanks! J
Thanks @mrjean765 🙏. No my amp doesnt have drive on it. I am just using an old TC electronics nova system drive. Its not the best but it works well with the amp. I try to keep the gain as low as possible where it still sustains the note. And yes, is the bridge pickup with a the tone and volume pot rolled down to 8 or 9 (depends what feels right on the day). Thanks for listening.
@@guitarlaurence thank you Laurence for the thorough reply. Heard good things about those fx units… and you sure make it work here. Tricky to find the right sustain/not too-strong drive combo for recording… tone knob rolled off makes sense. Thanks a lot. Trying to dial in a good recording sound atm…
What a stretch! So much work must have gone into this. A great achievement.
Thanks @MrMjp58. Definitely a miss spent youth as some would say. Thanks very much for listening!
