It makes sense lorewise though, since it says sea dragons come up to the surface and chase Reapers down to the lava zone where they get cooked and eaten. Having direct access from the crash zone would make a lot of sense
i remember hearing about subnautica and trying to remember what the game was and it’s absolutely crazy how the evolution of the game happened on so many levels… and how we’re still playing and talking about it
@@bober-mz2ys i have but isn’t it not out. cause my general take on it is i love the idea and the mod devs are insane for doing it but my only gripe is leaving it only to youtubers. i respect their decision but my fear is if this mod just randomly doesn’t get finished wel never get to play it. other than that yeah it’s a pretty insane mod, mad respect
god i remembered when i played it 2 days after it came out. the "hellhole" underneath the Aurora was just pure terror, as it was a connection point between the Reapers that spawned at the back and front, and then to the lava zone.
I remember seeing in one of the old old trailers for Subnautica, maybe when the Aurora explorable wreckage was added, an entrance at the back of the Aurora at one of the Engines (Bottom one on the left side maybe?) where you could go through a tunnel and that was how you got into the engine room.
I’m pretty sure it was the left part of the ship’s hull. You can still see it from the inside of the engine room at the bottom but it’s covered by debris and rock.
The first actual version of the lava zone was called *inactive lavart zone* and it was just a bunch of lava and rock pillars and a bunch of large circles on the ceiling
The ‘mini safe shallows’ you found by the Aurora is actually in the complete game now. It’s a sub-biome of the Crash Zone called Crash Zone Mesas. There’s six mesas in total, and a Reaper is often patrolling a sizable chunk between two of them, so I never visit unless I get turned around.
I remember a few years back when my brother way playing and his prawn suit fell into that spire nest thing with the weirdly formed spike terrain. He couldn't get out and a ghost leviathan was vibing nearby. Funny times.
This reminds me of playing the early open beta builds. I’d always get lost in some barren expanse because there’s no map, and I had to find the Giant Oblivion Spikes(tm) to know I had to go the opposite direction to get home.
This video is so cool, I instantly clicked on it! Yeah I wish those ruins were still in the game in some way. It would be both very cursed, very fun and cool to see the base game map in bz. I am just starting to think of how weird the starting part would be where robin crashes? Like where should she crash her ship? I need to see this!
10:35 I'm pretty sure that there is a very similar area in the current game. I don't think that it goes that close to the Aurora, but it has some coral material on the walls and brain corals and that. It might be between the kelp forest and the crash zone.
I've accidentally come across that unfinished Aurora section in the current version. I don't know why, but no amount of reloading or troubleshooting would fix it. The whole Aurora was unexplorable and I couldn't finish that save because no escape rocket.
But in Subnautica the void looks the same. It just ends at about 2500m and then you can go under the map. Only in Below Zero the Void has an actual ground at 2400m.
I think in this version there is a huge hole leading to the future lava zone where sea dragons were supposed to catch and drag reapers into the lava zone
If she could get it so we can dig into the sand and build/form our own tunnels and islands, that would be awesome! I do miss the tunnel at the end of the Aurora, down passed the reaper which leads to the lost river
I wanted to find something that makes people think of the alpha for the thumbnail, i think the sand worm does that The entity gallery doesn't work with this, sadly.
Honestly, this just reminds me of my first time playing below zero and the whole times i was like "omg LOOK!!! Its *insert cut content here* FULLY REALIZED" Especially with rock punchers.
i first learnt subnautica a bit before the terrain tool was added, back when subnautica didnt have an ending, and the islands where the rescue ship crashes were just a fully rock texture mountain oh yeah i remember the small islands near the Aurora, they had a lot of chest's near or on them i didnt have the game yet so only videos the floating island wasnt known much about so i think i watched when it was beta
Below Zero early access also had stuff that was cut like the methane caves, I never saw it because I kept away until it released to avoid spoilers. Would be cool to see that stuff too.
You should've tried going to the lava zone from the back of the Aurora because as far as i can remember there used to be a big drop from the Aurora to the lava zone but it might've been not in this Alpha version of the map idk.
@@JuniPinPan It was added in I think around March, when the aurora was first implemented. Around that time they started working on Lava Zone assets and they needed a testing ground, and they ended up also adding the hell hole.
You likely are remembering wrong, as you would have died before reaching there due to radiation, which could not be fixed, and by the time you could repair radiation the island thing was removed.
Even having some fun in below zero cause my save file corrupted and restored a beta testers version from 2015 and I get to see all the stuff they took out during beta

Huh, I wonder if those ruins were a placeholder for something. Like a dev using the old terraforming tool to mark out a rough idea for a structure as a guide for making the detailed model later. Architect building that got buffeted by the Aurora's crash landing? A degasi base before it got moved to the island?
I always wondered that, because yah it could just be the devs messing around wit the terraforming, but at the same time it just looks too odd. I dunno.
@@foxxyfoxagirl1854 Like i said, its meant to be some sort of ruins challenge : ) Theres actually more buildings throughout the game!
