Hi, I’m a second year Biomedical student at Glasgow Caledonian University. So far, I’m loving the course despite the workloads every week. Also, the course here is also accredited by the IBMS! Glad I’ve made the right decision. Love your videos honestly! ❤️😊
Hey Atousa! I am a recent graduate who wants to do masters in biomedical science in the UK. It's really difficult figuring things out as an international student, but your videos help a lot in bringing clarity. Thank you!
I’m in year 12, soon be applying to uni, my friends were putting me down by saying I won’t get a job in this field and it’s a useless degree, thank you very much for your videos I swear I have become more passionate about the subject and can not wait tot study it in university! Your videos have helped to explore and learn more about the course and I’m glad I have learned so much and will know I’ve made the right decision 😊❤️
So I'm currently at the end of the second year of Uni So applying for a masters has been on my mind lately. Although my course is not really related to your course (I'm studying Archaeology & Anthropology) the tips and advice you gave seemed really helpful :) Definitely good to make contacts in the field you want to be in even before you apply. Thanks!
Aw best of luck with it all, and I'm so glad to hear they help! But by all means if you have any generic questions about non-specific courses let me know and I'll try and make a video on them :) I know that can be useful to lots of others like yourself! :)
Thank you! This video was really helpful, Im an undergrad in NY and I'm really interested in doing a masters in biomedical science and am starting my research on what I need to know to get in to a program! This video was super helpful
I have a few questions, rather late than never right? Is post graduate necessary to secure a job with Biomedical Sciences? Would it be worth it for someone in their late 20's to start studying this?
I don't think it is necessary, but it depends on the job! If there is a certain job you have in mind, have a look to see specifically what they need before deciding to study :)
Thank you so much for this video! I'm currently in year 12 and am planning on studying biomedical sciences at University. Do you have any tips and things to look for at university open days?
Hi, i am gonna start first year of biomedical science and i am really interested to work at hospital labs. So just wanted to ask what type of modules should i choose in 2 year and also after finishing my degree can i get a job. Or do i have to do master in biomedical science first? Thanks
Thx! Your video is really useful. What is your advice for someone who had a longtime break from education?? Also is there any certain things i need to refresh on right now? Just a bit worried as i will start this Sep BIOMED.
I would say do as much preparation as you can! There isn't anything specific you have to refresh on, but if you know there are things you personally don't feel confident with, it is good to read them over. Best of luck for September! :)
Hello, I am a student from Bangladesh and I have passed my Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (HSC) in 2017 with the highest grade which is GPA 5.00. HSC is year 12 in our country but unfortunately is not considered as year 12 in Australia.. I want to become a doctor and practice medical in the future and am interested to do a Bachelor equivalent course in coming years. what course I should pursue in order to become a doctor in the future. Could you please help me with my queries? Thank you very much. Regards, Maryum Chowdhury Orthi
Hi am bryan from Lusaka Zambia, and I will be doing my diploma in biomedical science at Everlyn hone college.what tips do you for me...what are the best and challenges of starting with a diploma other than going straight for a degree?
Can you please tell me what's the difference between biomedical science and medical laboratory science. And if I finished biomedical science can I work in diagnostic laboratories in hospitals or in any medical center ?? Because i really want to work in hospitals and I want to know if this is possible as a biomedical science degree or it requires MLS
Hi Atousa, I'm in year 11 and I know I want to definately follow a career in medicine and become a practicing doctor. However, I am also very interested in biomedical science as the research aspect appeals a lot to me and so does the subject content. I was wondering about which medicine route you recommend and if you know what the research opportunities there are if I only do medicine. Would it be worth doing biomedical sciences with the intent to pursue a graduate medicine degree afterwards, or should I just apply to undergraduate medicine? If the overlap between the two degrees content are quite big and you still get research opportunnites within a medical degree then I will just apply for medicine. Thank you, and sorry for all the questions! :))
hello lovely! aw these are all great questions, I am going to make a video addressing them if that's okay? because I can go into more detail! and don't be sorry for asking questions! :)
Is the Healthcare Science degree is a better route to become biomed scientist ? Because from what i have researched this degree is accredited with ibms and you will complete your portfolio within 3 years of the course
It seems you must decide before applying to uni if you want to do an accredited or non-accredited course, but in what ways are the teachings different? Can you highlight them?
Hey Atuosa, great video. I am almost done with my bachelor's in a biological science and I'm looking at a master's in biomedical science. What's your advice? Do you think it would be possible?
Hi Victor! I have never heard about medical laboratory science, but it sounds like it could be similar to biomedical sciences - I'm sorry I don't have a better answer!
Do you know much about a biochemistry degree vs biomedical? I'm going back as a mature student and these are the two I'm looking at at the moment. Probably going to be most interested in either research or writing/journalism. It seems that biochem is more specialised, maybe? Would that seem accurate?
Joe Kelly hey I’ll try to answer your question! I graduated from biochemist at the university of Ottawa so it may be different depending on where you go. At uOttawa my biochem degree was much more research focused and demanding compared to the biomed program. My school designed biomed for students who want to write the mcat, so they take psych, bioethics, and English as well as the science courses. For biochem we took more “lab” courses (6 hour weekly in lab only courses). It was generally known at my school that biochem was harder than biomed. But in the end you can do the exact same thing career wise. It’s almost identically the same at my school. At other schools I would assume biochem is more protein focused and more physics-y while biomed is more biologically focused?
I have masters in chemistry and am interested to do clinical biochemistry so do I need accreditation from IBMS to work or how will I check for I BMS accredited university
Thanks for this. I finished my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Chemistry. Is it a good idea to complete my Ph.D. in Biomedical science as I am so interested in Biochemistry or molecular biology research?. Or I will struggle in it?
Hey! Sorry I see you published this back in 2017. I was wondering if you could answer a quick question I have. Does biomedical science involve a lot of chemistry, as this is my weakest bit.
You are welcome! and since this is what I'm hoping to do, I've just started a series called 'Medicine Diaries' where I am planning on making all of those types of videos you mentioned :) you can go and give that a quick watch and leave any other Qs you have on there! Take care!
Hey Atousa. I find your videos really helpful. :) I do have one query though. i am confused as to what i should pursue Microbiology or Biomedical Science ? Looking forward to your response . Thank you . :)
Hello :) I'm so glad to hear that! I have made a video on how you should choose a university course and talk about some options so you might find that useful, but generally I would say don't worry too much because the first year of both of those degrees is the same (or it was in my university) and it really depends if you want a more specialised degree, or a more general one like biomed :)
I went into biochem and then after 1st year I added “an option in microbiology” so instead of taking the super hard chemistry courses I was able to take micro courses! I had no idea my school offered this until I got there so perhaps your general biomed program my offer the ability to specialize in micro
Hey Atousa ! your videos r really helpful and amazing. I would like to ask u which kind of work experience is required for biomed sciences undergraduate degree and how to write a good personal statement for this. It would be really helpful if u make a video on this or at least reply me. Thank you :)
I am a sophomore in high school and am very interested in studying biomedical sciences. I`ve always wanted to research and learn about allergies and that is what drew me into this field but, is this even possible?
@@atousa5752 Thank you so much for your reply! I truly appreciate it! As of now, my first choice university is Yale but they don't have the specific major of biomedical sciences. Do you think it is okay for me to take other majors like physics, chemistry or biology? So sorry with bombarding you with questions... I live in Japan (countryside) so there are not that many people who can help me answer my questions...
Hi! I'm studying biomedical science in Australia and this is my first year. I would like to know if it is necessary to have a PhD or Masters to do research..?
Hey atousa!! I am currently in India......and studied here till 12th..... So what can be the eligibility for me to join any American University for biomedical science.....thanks!

Hi Atousa, what is the difference between Bachelor of medical science and Biomedical science. I know that there is a biomedical science major within my course degree? I am planning to study medical science at uws in Australia.
Hello :) biomedicine is more science and research, where is medicine you train to be a doctor who sees patients in clinics :) good luck in your studies!!
Hi... Do you think biomedical science is similar to nursing? Is biomedical science more of being in a lab and discovering? I am interested in caring for others, but i can not become a nurse because of personal difficulties, do you think this would this work for me? Is it similar? Thank you
You can do a biomedical science degree and then a 2 years masters in Physician Associate which is basically a junior doctor but less roles , so it’s similar to a nurse with higher pay

Basically, here in South Africa, we have a university called Unisa and you can study at home without going to a university or seeing a lecturer, so they call it correspondence, and , they do offer biomedical sciences as a course, so I'm contemplating and just wanted to know, do you think it's too difficult to do by yourself, using this method? Or do you think it's possible from your perspective and experiences? 💚🙂

Hello,
I am so confused with IBMS accreditation etc. I am starting a biomedicine degree in October which I have learnt isn't accredited. Just wondered what my next steps would be once I finish my degree in gaining this accreditation so that I can get HCPC registration etc. Sorry if this sounds so stupid, but so confused. Thanks :)
hi lovely! it isn't a stupid question at all! unfortunately I don't know off the top of my head, but I will research it and make a video about it soon because a few people have been asking me :)
atousa thank you lovely. That would be great x
does it matter if I don't do a IBMS accredited masters for postgrad?
no, I don't have an IBMS accredited either :)
Im in year 10 and want to do biomedical science in uni wat courses did u pick in college and is it really stressful and hard
I picked biology, chemistry, maths and psychology, and it can be hard at times yes, but I do think that ANYTHING you do will have its own stresses and difficulties, so don't be put off by it, just think of it as a CHALLENGE! :)
atousa what is physoclogy and is it necessarry to pick english at college

yes :) xx
Does biomedical science have math
so you're doing your masters in cancer biology ?
yes! well, the official title of the course is Translational Cancer Medicine, but it is essentially cancer biology and research :)
Is IBMS universal or just for England?
I'm pretty sure it is just UK based, but I would double check in case there is something I have missed :)
