  • In this short video, Paula Brochu, PhD, an Associate Professor at Nova Southeastern University, describes her research on "Testing the Effectiveness of a Weight Bias Educational Intervention Among Clinical Psychology Trainees."
The intervention challenged misconceptions regarding weight and health (e.g., fatness is not necessarily unhealthy, dieting is not effective for weight loss over the long term). Trainees reported weaker weight controllability beliefs and anti-fat attitudes after the intervention. This finding is promising because anti-fat bias is pervasive in health care settings, harmful, and not addressed in health care training programs.
