Seriously though.. These trilingual people in hololive ID is the most impressive in terms of language. Lol. Their english is more fluent than those japanese idols trying to speak english and their japanese is better than those english idols trying to speak japanese and well, of course they speak indonesian and there's a certain someone in holo id that speak even more languages.

The ID branch never fails to impress me. The JP members and EN members try so hard to learn little basics and fractions here and there to be able to comunicate a little bit. And then you have Anya, Ollie, Reine, Risu and Erofi jumping between at least 3 languages fluently like it's nothing. Only Moona struggles a bit on the JP side, but she has other ways to express heself lol.
well according to ted talk bilingual brain have easier time learning new languages, and Indonesian are naturally bilinguals. and i can almost gurantee you that those HoloID girls can speaks more than 3. if i remember correctly, there's these 12yo Balinese that speak 23-ish language,

@@professortusk English is in the national education curriculum starting from elementary (even back then during my time), and even now in middle school and high school some of them adopt an extra language class to be chosen by the students as well (usually French, Chinese, Japanese, it depends of the availability of the teacher the school has access to).
@@professortusk without going into the country history, Imagine if in the US each states have their own unique language ( we called it our regional language) and then English. the Indonesian language is created just so we can talk to each other.
so we grew up learning 2 language, English is usually our third just because it is taught in schools.
after that you can jus add what you want depends on what you think would be cool; cantonese/mandarin if you are of Chinese descend, + arabic if you're a muslim, + Japanese if you're a weeb, +korean if you're a zoomer, +french/german if you're a hipster, etc

Its not the first time that even JP people are like “this girl is actually Hololive JP right?” or “she is actually japanese who just happened to be able to speak Indonesia right?”. Anya’s JP tweet are pretty much normal Japanese tweet too.
Strictly in Japanese, she’s probably better than Iofi and her only disadvantage compared to Kiara is probably just never actually lived in Japan to polish up some of the chosen vocab and accent. I think Anya is better than Kiara though.

I feel Anya is in constant contact with Japanese culture even if she doesn’t live there. She must be in Japanese forums and websites + consume anime and Japanese music so heavily that it’s almost like she lives in Japan. Her vocabulary is probably more complex than many native speakers but that’s actually normal for people are fluent in a 2nd language.
I'm honestly pretty amazed by these girls. Effortlessly slipping between three different languages, which they appear to be fluent in. As a lazy, mono-language UK person, I can't even imagine that.

yea and that is why I like and dislike english, it is easier to learn casually (the formal English is complicated as fuck) but you do have harder time expressing detail

Considering that Indonesia and Japan are in the same continent (Asia), it doesn't feel too surprising for me.
And I'm saying this as a Malaysian. The really high level weebs over here may as well have been native Japanese with how fluent they speak the language.

Her english is million times better than me so I'm not surprised that her Japanese speaking is really good. Like seriously listen to her English and compare it to everyone else English in HoloLive even down to EN members. Not only Anya speak fluently, but her words come out clearly and she pronounced them beautifully? i dont know. But if she said its because she practice I can only imagine she practice like hell. What a great person.

Hearing anya speak in id is refreshing, like I've been watching her whenever i catch her stream, but she usually speaks in english and jp.
I think it comes down to using more layman words vs more “sophisticated(?)” or less commonly used words in daily conversations. I have a similar issue with my friends. I try to be more specific with my word use that it sometimes confuses others, or I’d use different words that means similar things just to add some variety to a conversation. I can see how that would confuse a beginner or non-English speaker.
Faced the same issue during my school days that I had to limit my vocab. But after years of scuffing myself. I feel my English skill today is worse than ever before lmao

For me Reine have a really impressive English it's feels really natural.
But it's just my opinion.. I don't speak English very well.
Also Moona have improved a lot her English since her debut.
Regarding other comments here... I think we should not judge others for how impressive is or not her language because the more important it's how they managed to connect with others with what they have.

Well linda anya if you think that in Japanese you have freedom in choose many words, return to spanish (She speaks so pretty and have a nice accent) and you can have +10 ways to say "Hello" from very casual to a 100% polite. And here's my usual praise: Anya it's so talented in rigth skills also been a little more to stay alone it's also a thing i like about her (as in myself i only interect with friends IRL maybe 3-4 times in a month the rest are only messages and occasionally a voice call)
Gotta be proud of our Chad SEA people. Learning at minimum 2 languages as a kid, bonus points if you belong to a certain ethnic group like Chinese, indian, Javanese, Balinese, etc!
English is taught at school as a second language, alongside with our respective mother tongue. So while we study English, we also have our mother tongue to talk to at home. Plus, those with dedication can pick up a new language!
As for me, i can speak 3 languages (Malay, English, Japanese). Well.. i can at least hold a decent conversation in Japanese. Not completely confident bout it hahha

What is diverse about Japanese vocab other than pronouns?
Grammar, vocab, slang, formality
Its just as complex as English if not more
Even dialects can affect them too
More or less the same like how different the vocabs in Australia, UK and USA
It's hard to explain it without actually teaching some of the language, but there's like a million different ways to say **the exact same thing** (not similar things, the exact same thing).
Out of all the languages I've studied (English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and now Japanese, though I've forgotten pretty much everything I knew about German) it's definitely the one where I feel like you can express your personality more easily. And that's before even factoring local dialects (which every language has). Now, ofc, you're supposed to just speak formally in a lot of situations, but that's a cultural thing not a language thing, the language itself allows for a lot of freedom.
@@devilvocano420 I personally don’t think English is that complex. Actually, the English language *relative* simplicity is what makes it the most universal language.
@@Lucaz99 I feel like people tend to underestimate the complexity of English since a lot of it comes from connotation, tone, and implicit meaning. Like somebody else said, japanese has many ways to say the exact same thing, but so does English and plenty of other languages. Most languages are complex and deep once you begin to seriously analyze them, especially old and fleshed out ones like English or Japanese.
I could watch some hololive Minecraft voids before but now I can't even do it with Hololive. It's such a bad background.
