Extreme weather, extreme photography. I love the way the cold builds the frost on the trees. So beautiful. Just make sure you park/camp close to a place for emergencys. Too cold to get stranded out somewhere. Take care Jarl and be safe!

Super beautiful! Just beautiful. I want to move to Norway now. Beat the Texas heat! The way you were driving is crazy. We get the slightest bit of snow/ice...everyone is going 5mph. If that. lolol Btw - cook root veggies 1st. They take longer to get soft. So carrots/potatoes....then onions & bell peppers....then meat. So extremely jealous of where you are vs us here. Yeah, I think so too, but it turns out the battery was not the issue, I should not have stopped the engine when I had it started to begin with. the battery is inside the living quarters so it was never seriously cold

So much fun, albeit I know it's not always an easy feat. The clarity of your camera work is great & really adds to the entire viewing experience. It must be so cozy in the van by night, with the warmth inside & especially when you cook your yummy & steaming hot cheese pizzas!😄 I say, the longer your videos, the better the viewing experience, as they're that good & I always enjoy the music too! @@NorwegianXplorer We live in Tasmania, Australia my friend, so we're a fair way from you!😄 Many don't realise abroad, but it can & does get very cold down here too during Winter, which we're experiencing right now. We've been getting down to minus 0 temps of late, so for us, cold! Other States are the same I'm hearing. I think this year is our coldest Winter in many years. We're preparing well for our impending Scandinavian Winter, except that will be even colder I'm sure & there should be much snow (we're hoping).
@@NorwegianXplorer Haha Yes indeed, it is far away but also, I was just thinking, as the Astronauts in space tell us, when admiring the earth from space.....It's the perspective & the fact that they can cover the entire blue planet with their one hand, making us quickly realise, how connected all humans are on this one shared planet & this planet appears so tiny & fragile from so far away. In a funny sense, our planetarian interconnectedness, keeps us all closer than we'd like to think or even believe. We're only as far as a flight away, but indeed, that flight can be very expensive, especially when flying anywhere from Australia!😄 I forgot to mention to you prior, that we live in Battery Point, Tasmania. It's a very beautiful part of the world, just like Norway. If you've never seen Battery Point, a quick google will bring up some lovely images.
I should add, I do love very much, a tasty & rich steaming hot casserole. You can't beat that on a cold Winter's evening & even better with some thick mashed potatoes, some steamed rice or some hot crusty bread. Take your pick!😊

At the beginning, the bridge; what river is it crossing over? 3:40; -26ºC meant nothing to me. -14.8ºF is what I understand, I especially enjoyed all the snow/ice covered tree scenes. 6:30; - I too was wondering what caused that sound when starting the engine, nevertheless, it did START. Does the van have something to keep the battery warm when not being used? Is there an engine oil pan heater? Is there something that keeps the engine coolant warm & circulating when the engine is off? V-e=r-y practical - to start the engine every 4 hours. I think I would breathe a sigh of relief each time the engine started & then smile & feel a sense of satisfaction. 15:29; What is the name of that body of water? 15:56; Yes, bacon goes well with anything & is tasty by itself. Thanks Butch, yes I have heard about Death Valley, sounds nasty! In Norway we use lubricants and fluids in the engine that is made to handle these temperaures, yes I could have used an engine pre heater. The trees where amazing. This is around Strømsund in Sweden and a bit further north, not sure about the names of the water bodies as I am writing this reply on my phone high up on a mountain plateau in my van with heavy rain and nasty weather, no 57°f here lol! Hi Jarl! Today in the USA there are 100 million people under heat alert. Temperatures of 120° Fahrenheit in Death Valley, California. Here in northern Illinois we get minus 20° Fahrenheit just about every winter for a day or two. That's drastic! You handled it very well. Beautiful winter scenery. And it looks like it was not windy which is fortunate. Your van is very nice! Lots of headroom and spacious for you. What is the manufacturer? You can always tell it's cold by the noise the snow makes when you walk on it. This is a sound that is familiar to all inhabitants of nordic countries.
Anything below zero i am afraid of....i hope you have a cpl sources for heat...you know just in case...hell id have a cpl bundles of oak too lol i lived in michigan 40yrs and the coldest it i ever seen was -36 f with a wind chill of -60 f we also had 3 snow storms in a week and had snow 4 1/2 ft

Interesting, I'd love to try driving a vehicle with the shifter mounted on the DASHBOARD. Does it feel strange moving your hand up and down instead of back and forth?
Do you have or need like an engine warm up feature on cars for places that get that cold? 30 years ago there used to be risk of an engine block cracking in some cold places of Canada or Montana.
Some people have, I do not, it is not considered a must on newer cars but would be good. The cars or vans that are sold in Norway, Sweden and Finland are equipped differently than cars sold in the rest of Europe an the US. They have a different kind of fluids for colder temperatures and some other stuff. I do get a bit nervous about it when it gets this cold but down to minus 20°c /-4°f is ok. Engine heaters from webasto are considered to be good but very expensive to get installed
As a person who lives in Northern Finland where -30celsius weather is normal during winter time; engine warm up is good but not necessary. Diesel cars might not start without it, but 99% time you'll be fine just remember to let the car idle for a minute to get the oil running.
I travel dry in winter, could probably manage minus 10 with water inside, but not minus 20 or 30, so tanks are dry. I do use the chemical toilet though
Do people bother you over there if they see you out van camping? It seems really fun to me. But over here in the US you have to watch out for people that give you trouble. No they dont, I usually pick places where I am sure of it though, but the place in Strømstad was probably a local hangout place for the young ones. The car that was spinning circles was a youth vagon, meaning they can be driven from 16 year of age but have a limit of like 25mph speed or something

It was otherworldly, I use a Cinegrade color profile so it might push the blues towards turquiouse but it was pretty stunning

Yes they are already disappearing, where I am now on a mountain plateau called Sølen, it is actually only 54•f, Mid Norway got a cold front lol

Oh I didnot notice first the temperature inside... now I see, only 4 gr. Celsius. That's too cold for sitting still !

No they dont, I usually pick places where I am sure of it though, but the place in Strømstad was probably a local hangout place for the young ones. The car that was spinning circles was a youth vagon, meaning they can be driven from 16 year of age but have a limit of like 25mph speed or something
@@NorwegianXplorer Thank you very much for the reply. The scenery of those places is fun to see. Many people over here also have Scandinavian ancestors and heritage so its also interesting from that point of view to see what its like over there.

@@NorwegianXplorer it's like a tiny diesel heater that heats the coolant in the engine and stops damage. You can also get electric ones if there's hookup

Yeah, Webasto is the main brand here in Norway as well. My family has it in a BMW
