    I’ve been using Markup for over 2 years. I literally can not use a paper pattern. I probably wouldn’t even be stitching without Markup I ❤ it. There is a learning curve. Highly recommend the TH-cam videos and the Facebook help group.
    My biggest pet peeve is designers that refuse to even consider selling their patterns as PDF’s. Yes you can scan paper patterns. But that is a lot more fiddley than a PDF that comes directly.

      My mom says the same thing, she wouldn’t be stitching if she didn’t have the app! I think designers should offer a PDF, if anything to save on paper and the plastic wrapping. I typically don’t stitch in that style, but at this point in my stitching journey I wouldn’t buy a pattern if it was only paper! I’m too dependent!

    I’ve been struggling with this app but I’m determined to figure it out because I can certainly see how useful it can be. I guess I haven’t found the you tube video that explains things clearly. I find that many videos the “instructor” speaks very quickly and assumes that the viewer totally understands the technology lingo. But as I said, I’m determined! Thanks for the reinforcement video-it helps to know that someone is really using and liking this app.

    Good to know. Although the IPad I have is old and probably going to gack out sooner rather than later. But I have no idea what tablet I could wind up with next. I am an old paper chart girl since most of my cross stitch years were between 1995 and 2015. While I have been quilting away for the last 9 years, the cross stitch world went all techy on me! It's fun too see all the new stuff though. 😄

      @x-stitchandchill  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      My mom uses an older iPad and it’s been great! She loves it because the paper patterns are too small so she can zoom in on the app. But so many people still use paper patterns! And many designers still sell them, I’m just a bit of a tech geek so I love a pdf!

    ❤❤❤ thank you for the insights on the app. A lot of people are talking good stuff about it. I have an iPhone but I purchased a android tablet along time ago to use pattern keeper, so I wanted to know if this app was worth it to get like a iPad so thanks for letting me know, I think the stats are pretty cool

    • @x-stitchandchill
      @x-stitchandchill  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      No problem! I’ve never used pattern keeper, so I can’t really compare. But mark-up is a pretty solid app. It definitely makes stitching more fun and easy!

    • @megastitches
      @megastitches 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@x-stitchandchill patter keeper doesn’t give you the dates that you work on stuff, it just tracks stitches and percentage left, I do like that is in black and white so when it comes to searching it’s not that difficult to see, you can mark where your park threads are including the corners of you X, something that would probably annoy me from markup XP is the unchecking, every single symbol that you wrongly highlighted, with pattern keeper you just click 1 bottom and it goes away, but if we are talking about stats, definitely mark up XP have much better. You can also ask the app to create the grids diagonally if you prefer.

    • @lynnquilt

      Scan quality is not the same. Scan at a high resolution, 600. Scan each page from the glass. Make sure it is very flat and very straight. Home printers are not very good. I take mine to a copy business. It can be done but there is a lot more adjusting that has to be done. I have had pretty good luck asking designers for a PDF after I purchase their paper pattern. Just explain how you stitch using your device and the app.

    Hi thanks for your video, there are some amazing features that have me interested in this program especially as I am an iPad user. I just use a pdf annotation program for my cross stitch pattterns, as I do a lot of patters that have extensive back stitching. Does mark up and back stitching?

    • @x-stitchandchill
      @x-stitchandchill  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m not totally positive. I know it shows the back stitch on the chart, but I’m not sure you can “mark” it as stitched.

    hi there! thanks for your useful review! I wonder if this app can tell you by how many stitches of one color there is to do by row? for example let's say I select the red color in my pattern, I would like to have the number of stitches indicated on the pattern for each row that contains said red color. Not sure my explanation is clear... I think Knit companion does that but it's a paid feature I believe....

    • @x-stitchandchill
      @x-stitchandchill  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not sure. I know you can select the symbol for the color and highlight the color. Then there is a feature if you click on the gears iin the top left that says "turn guidelines on" which makes some yellow highlight you can drag around. They highlight two rows. But I don't think you can specifically say, show me the red stitches in this exact row. If that makes sense! haha!

    • @x-stitchandchill
      @x-stitchandchill  ปีที่แล้ว

      Sorry I'm slow on this reply! I have never tried diagonal stitching. I think on Pattern Keeper you can have it show your the diagonal rows. I know a lot of people like it because you don't get stuck in one area, you kind of get some different colors and things going as you stitch. I'd maybe try just the regular method to get the hang of parking and then go with the diagonal!

    The patterns I bought online came with the option to download different versions of the same pattern, i.e. 1-page version of the pattern; pattern spread out on multiple pages, black and white version, and a color version. Which is best to upload into Markup R-XP?

    • @x-stitchandchill
      @x-stitchandchill  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Really it's up to you! If I get one that is a one page pattern, and it's not huge, I prefer to use that one in Markup R-XP because it's easy to just zoom in and move around. For my large full coverages like tea room, which came in 25 pages, I don't think I would want it all on one page, it would be too overwhelming!

      If you click on the gears in the top lefthand corner there is an adjust grid option, the first option is to rotate the image. there are arrows in the top right hand corner you use to rotate the chart. Then you can just hit next on everything if it all looks ok! Hope that helps!

    I have been trying this app out. So far I do not care for it. Willing to keep giving it a try but every pdf I put into it does not add the color chart symbol key. It says it can be added manually. That is something I will not do if it is one symbol at a time. This goes for every pdf I add. Plus, for me, this is not a very well crafted app. I have been using computers for 35 years and a degree in programming and web development and this is not a user friendly app. I would like to know the reason the symbols will not be generated to show.

    • @x-stitchandchill
      @x-stitchandchill  25 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, I've had trouble with that lately since posting this video. I find I have to go in and do it manually, which is fine for a project with 10 colors, but awful for one with 100 colors! Black and white patterns seem to work better, and I think sometimes it might have to do with the pdf since the symbols often look blurry. Otherwise it's a good app for me. I know there are several others out there!
