  • Do you have a faulty garage door sensor that needs to be changed? This video shows you the steps I take almost daily to replace sensors with new ones.
    If you need sensors here are the most common ones:
    Chamberlain/Accesmaster/Liftmaster - amzn.to/2ZTHlyR
    Genie - amzn.to/3dj5iCN
    Linear - amzn.to/31q9Jcm
    Guardian - amzn.to/3dj5zpj
    Marantec - amzn.to/31o6iTv

    Thank you for the video. So the wire connectors are not module plugs where they just unplug from the sensor and so is that why you had to splice them instead?

    Thanks for the video! Silly question… Do I need to change both sensors or can I just change the green sensor side since that is the only one that seems to have a problem. I’m assuming I need to do both since one is the sender and receiver but thought I would ask :). Thanks again!

    Yes i had some garage door repairman come out and said it'd be 400 bucks to fix which as a teacher Iw as like um no not right now....I figured I can just pull it up and down, but this looks easy enought but I'm wary about the wires; could i have an electrican fix this for me who won't charge me taht much?

    • @GarageDoorGuidance
      @GarageDoorGuidance  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Those wires are low voltage I don’t think you need an electrician but you can call and ask or call a couple different companies to try to find an honest one that’ll charge $100

    So, how to go about it if you have two green cables going to the sensor?

    • @GarageDoorGuidance
      @GarageDoorGuidance  หลายเดือนก่อน

      One of those wires must be different then it’s just a matter of matching it up everywhere

  • @mobilecomptrek
    @mobilecomptrek 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I did the replacement, but part of the garage door is rubbing against the back part of the clips. It looks like as the garage door goes down, it shifts slightly and the bolt that holds the cable at the bottom of the door rubs against the 2 flat part of the clips. The original mount was using one screw to hold the bracket to the rail. I can't mount it to the wall because the clip is not long enough. I have it temporarily on top of a can near the door. Any thoughts?

    • @GarageDoorGuidance
      @GarageDoorGuidance  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You can bend those parts off, and mount it to the track like it was before ? I am familiar with that situation and that’s an option.

    • @mobilecomptrek
      @mobilecomptrek 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@GarageDoorGuidance Thanks. I was hoping someone else had this issue. I was hoping for another option that wouldn't require damaging the clip, but I may not have another choice.

    Tried wiring white to white and black/white to black/white and vice versa not working 🙄. Any idea what the issue might be?

    • @GarageDoorGuidance
      @GarageDoorGuidance  ปีที่แล้ว

      Firstly would be to make sure they’re the same sensors that work with your opener
      Have you tried to follow the line to see if it’s stapled through anywhere ? Also I’d check the back of the motor to make sure nothing is lose there too.
      You can also try to wire them directly to the unit ( take the sensor with just a few inches of the wire and try to connect that to se did the light lights up )

      @@GarageDoorGuidance awesome, and one more thing before I leave you alone
      So the problem I'm having is that when the sun shines towards the direction of my sensor (the amber/yellow one), my doors have a hard time closing due to what I'm guessing is sunlight interference. I looked into this problem and apparently it's the receiving green one that's supposed to be affected by light and not the sender
      So do you think that my sensors have just gone bad?
      I have the exact same sensors as the ones in this video

    • @GarageDoorGuidance
      @GarageDoorGuidance  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There could be a splice somewhere that was crossed, should be totally fine though

    • @ecospider5
      @ecospider5 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      1/2 inch is plenty. you need to see if your wires are connected to the garage door unit properly. Do you have a multi meter to check voltage or continuity?
