12/2 is a very good choice for your household wiring because it allows you to max out a 15 amp circuit. Also it allows you to run equipment like air compressors, shop vacs, and larger drills and tools. Thinking ahead thinking ahead

Bingo. I would rather have too much than not enough gauge wire in case I need it in the future. Price difference is not a significant issue.

@@TheExcellentLaborer absolutely. There is not much difference in price between the 14 and the 12. Most of the house I'm in seems to be run with 12/2 aluminum. At least they thought ahead in the 70s, eh

good job, one recommendation i have is you need to put junction boxes at the bottom for sensors and also at the top by the opener. reason for this is at the bottom they can make the splice in the box and make it look much cleaner, and the drywallers are less likely to bury the wires. at the top is good for them not burying it but also because some door guys like to splice in and make the two sensor wires one, just to give it a cleaner look, and that allows them to do so in the box. for the wall button, try to staple them to two different studs. left door (from inside) goes on left side, right door (from inside) goes on right side. just my tips

Just a thought, but I believe it is best practice to not put motors (garage door openers) on GFCI protected circuits (like garage outlets). I understand motors can give GFCI circuits fits, by tripping the circuit.

Oh yea I hire out the door install too. I just run the wires before they install it so I can hide the wire behind the wall.

The next time you do it you should just pre wire the wallbuttons

For new home installs, no need to wire all the way down to the floor. Wire to the top and connect to an Infinity Shield sensor, clean look, no snags, and the best sensors on the market
