I would have to agree. I purchased a C4 rail with the mid length cutout and a couple of the mounting screws had their heads stripped. I emailed him asking what size the screws were and he emailed me back asking for my mailing address. He sent me not one but two whole sets of screws. Have purchased several CMR rails from him since then because not only are his products top notch, his customer service is as well.

Everything Centurion makes is absolutely top notch. They make the best combat barrels on the market, IMO. Gassing is perfect and accuracy is phenomenal for a Chromed bore.
They sell out and come back in stock pretty often. Edit: Just sign up for their emails and keep an eye on the page. I think I got in on the second drop thanks to the newsletter. Pretty sure they were up for a number of hours too before selling out
I’m thankful Monty put these out. The Knights ones have reached the unobtainium level and this will give others a chance for a solid comparable carrier. I know knights concentrates on government contracts but if I owned a company with this much demand I would definitely find a way to set up more facilities to make more. It is possible to scale and keep quality, and it seems they are just leaving money on the table.
Hopefully people will realize phosphate chrome lined and chrome with phosphate keys and bolt are the way to go... And companies will flood the market with BCGS like this
I've been raving about Centurion for damn near 15 years . In 2009 I picked up C4 Quad rail and fell in love . I think it was 2013 or 2014 when i picked up an actual upper . Centurion is by far my favorite and Monty is well respected in the community . Centurion CM4 14.5 MIDWEIGHT HF with C4 Chrome M16 BCG and C4 12.5 Quad rail is IMO one of the best Uppers for the money . Can't wait until he makes Chrome Bolt to match but either way his Phosphate bolts are still super solid.. Nice video bro

Regarding the vestigial hole through the firing pin retaining pin channel: I'll hazard a guess that Chris Bartocci tried to convince Monty to put the captive retaining pin in these carriers, as I believe those two are also friends and Chris is an advocate for the feature. I suppose it's for the best that it was omitted; imagine how awkward it would be needing to refer to it as the "firing pin retaining pin retaining pin."
Absolutely love Centurion's stuff. Their Socom 14.5 Mid Length barrels, their quad rails with a FSP Cut Out/Mid length Gas, their chrome carriers and their E4 Tapered Bolts for their T Marked barrel extensions, and the fact that you can touch base with them about any of their products or if you have questions related to your build. I will continue to support them as long as I possibly can.
Chrome and Hard Chrome are the best finishes in my humble opinion. My dad's duty gun was a 1991a1 that was hard Chrome plated and that finish is still going strong.

I’ll second them. I have a complete Centurion build from a SOTAR class last year in addition to several home builds as well as their barrel in my MK12. They are about as good as you will find. Just be aware that their upper receivers are thermal fit for barrel installation. I’m not the biggest fan of it for every build but they are still great uppers. Buy their stuff with confidence.
Personally, I consider them one of the best for pure durability and ruggedness. Their qc is top notch as well. Buy them with the utmost confidence stranger.
I won't to thank you for your videos. After watching your video on a carrier inspection I was able to figure out why my 300bk and .223 wasn't cycling. (I switch between the two uppers and use the same lower. For now) turned out I had a small pin stuck in the gas key. Once I got it out I had no more issues. Thank you again.
I have 3 BCM bolts ,all 3 have good finish inside and out. Just bought a colt 20 inch upper with a bolt and charging handle. The quality on the colt upper,barrel and bolt are very good. Using a bore scope on the bolt inside the finish is excellent. I am using this colt 20 inch to replace a 1986 Colt HBAR barrel. I wonder If Chad would like to see what the inside of a 13,000 round old HBAR barrel looks like. Make a nice video.

Id like to see actual dirt/sand tests with a standard vs sandcut bcg. Kinda seems like sandcuts on a closed/tight system like an ar15 carrier would create more points of wear and contact especially as carbon/dirt gets in around them. I picture putting gaps in snow ski's vs one long ski. It's a little different then the sandcuts on an FAL, and the tolerances around the carrier aren't as tight. But kinda a solution to a problem that doesn't exist with an ar15, and maybe even creates areas for ingress in what is a mostly closed system?
Each individual cut's ledges and groove can be a sediment diverter, but they also serve (each ledge of the groove serves) as an accumulator of debris focused on a finite point -- where the ledge/cut ends. That focus point can potentially increase erosion (BCG to upper receiver bore) but I say "potentially". But what's the reduction in jams/binds resulting from those relief cuts? I can't imagine adding them for visuals/theory alone, it's an expensive addition to the machining work. I expect they actually work as intended despite potential focused erosion points.

my only complaint about the centurians chromed bcgs; its just the carrier, i'd prefer it to be the full assembly, so i know its going to work the way it should. and i don't have to try and hunt down a viable bolt, which can sometimes be annoying to accomplish. otherwise; they seem to make good product. and i wish they had more stainless barrel options, but que sera sera.
Been looking forward to this very video for awhile now. Building what I consider to be a top tier defensive AR. I'm extremely left eye dominant so the LMT mars L is my lower. My upper I'm for sure going with the Centurion chrome BCG. I'll probably use an LMT mil-spec m4 upper just to match the Mars lower. Barrel may as well go with Centurion 16" CHF mid-length mid-weight with most likely a forward control designs 6315 flash hider and ambi CH.
2 of my colt uppers have Centurion c4 handguards on them , car cut on my 14''.5 , and 12'' on my colt comp 18'' no BS the best hanguards around , so impressed that if i see an upper on GB for 5 bills or less equipped with one ill snap it right up asap ( the colt comp 18 was a 2am impulse buy based on that theory and did not disappoint ) the sand cutters have been sold out for a while though.
Never understood the concept of defeating the sealed system properties of an AR and putting more ingress points for sand and debris to enter lol. I don't think there is even any documentation for the origination of these bolts in terms of user request (not for CMT but for KAC). They probably saw the FAL and were like "we can milk this from all the instagram warriors," and now they sell on the used market for $1000 LOL.
@@hannibalbarca2939 It's definitely not a bad price, I could be wrong with my assessment and it doesn't hurt to try it out. I personally prefer the added benefits of the LMT enhanced carrier which is around the same price, they have rails on the side to help with debris. I would much prefer this finish though and the LMT doesn't run in every gas system and barrel length..

The G REBCG is best obtained when purchased with an upper on one of their big sales. The cost drops from ~300 to like 200 when you factor in all the rest you’re getting.
If your patient and wait on sales you can find some excellent deals, I have several new triggers waiting for a future build, just could not the deal up.
Geissele has the forged 158+ bolts and harder bolt cam pin. Best bet is Black Friday sales by itself or in a complete upper. I wish Geissele used the Ocks screws, but otherwise I think they are the best BCG available. I use the Geissele in everything and a Sionics NP3 in a budget build.

I know you’ve already done a barrel physical for a Hodge Defense, but I’ve never seen you do one for centurion, and I’m looking at both of them for a potential build
The original TDP for the AR-15 bo of and boot carrier specified hard chrome. Once the Vietnam War kicked off and they were issuing the M16 in the thousands, Colt and their 3rd party chrome plating company were having trouble with cracks causing high reject/failure rates; but the main thing was Big Army was being cheap.
Over the years there's been the debate to download mags or not so that they seat when loading. If a loaded mag (fully loaded or not) is giving you problems seating on a closed bolt, is it probably due to the rails on the carrier not being in spec? This would make sense as to the main culprit of that issue.
Please review that KAK industry k spec please and thank you. I believe the majority of their products to be over priced hype and I’m curious if they actually make a good carrier
Is this worth $325?? You have a Microbest BCG which is quite literally as close to perfect as you can get for a mils-spec BCG -Chrome finish -Phosphate ejector -Phosphate extractor -Phosphate/Chrome gas key -Springco Springs -OSKS well-staked screws All that for $135 So are the Sand cuts worth $190? Microbest makes BCGs for BCM, Expo Arms and others who all ultimately make their product inferior to Microbest's by putting on crappy springs, NiB finishes, or coated extractors. *IMO* Microbest is the BCG you should put in nearly every rifle, unless you want to spend $400+ for microscopic benefits that .001% of shooters will actually notice.

Have you ever done a physical on any products from HM Defense? They have the monobloc barrels and the bolt design where the cam pin doesn't go all the way thru the bolt. Just wondering if they are reliable products? Doesn't seem to be much hype at all with their barrels and bolts.
I'm not sure if the sand cuts are actually worth it, nor are they an improvement. It might allow grit into the fire control group. Idk. It's something I was thinking right about now.
So would it be safe to assume that an AR exhibiting under-gassed symptoms while simultaneously dumping an ass load of smoke back in your face when shooting (unsuppressed) has too much slop where the bolt tail fits into the carrier?
I’ve never had the luxury of owning a KAC carrier before but I’ve read comments. What is your opinion on extra wear on the receiver, and or lube issues?
What bolts do they plan on using? I've bought quite a few BCG's that the bolts don't pass the specs - the cam pin holes are too large, and the bolt tail is not to spec.

those gas block screws are pretty nifty! the retaining pin retainer seems like a solution to a problem that doesnt exist.

Never understood the concept of defeating the sealed system properties of an AR and putting more ingress points for sand and debris to enter lol. I don't think there is even any documentation for the origination of these bolts in terms of user request (not for CMT but for KAC). They probably saw the FAL and were like "we can milk this from all the instagram warriors," and now they sell on the used market for $1000 LOL.
To be fair, I had the same concern and bought one anyways. $180 isn’t KAC money.
@@hannibalbarca2939 It's definitely not a bad price, I could be wrong with my assessment and it doesn't hurt to try it out. I personally prefer the added benefits of the LMT enhanced carrier which is around the same price, they have rails on the side to help with debris. I would much prefer this finish though and the LMT doesn't run in every gas system and barrel length..
@@joeyassyrian I'm looking forward to testing my LMT enhanced soon. I wonder if you will be proven right in the long run. It's definitely possible, but most of us aren;t going shooting during dust storms or severe storms/blizzards.
Per my testing, sand cuts do not significantly unseal the system if the weapon is lubricated properly (which is generous).
@@SchooloftheAmericanRifle So does it make contact with debris? And in the event it does, what exactly does it do? Because if it doesn't make contact with debris, then it isn't really doing anything.

If you could only upgrade 1 part on a factory assembled box AR-15, I would say the bolt carrier should be that 1 part.

The G REBCG is best obtained when purchased with an upper on one of their big sales. The cost drops from ~300 to like 200 when you factor in all the rest you’re getting.

If your patient and wait on sales you can find some excellent deals, I have several new triggers waiting for a future build, just could not the deal up.
Geissele has the forged 158+ bolts and harder bolt cam pin. Best bet is Black Friday sales by itself or in a complete upper. I wish Geissele used the Ocks screws, but otherwise I think they are the best BCG available. I use the Geissele in everything and a Sionics NP3 in a budget build.

I would love to see you do a comparison between a 12.5 centurion arms called hammer, forged chrome lined barrel, and one from Hodge Defense. I know you’ve already done a barrel physical for a Hodge Defense, but I’ve never seen you do one for centurion, and I’m looking at both of them for a potential build

Is chrome better then nitride? I thought a coating wasn't as good as a treatment. I'm digging this idea of these cuts.
He has a video discussing various coatings that covers this I believe. If you search sotar coatings it’ll pull up.
Nitride carriers are more often not in spec compared to chrome or phosphate

The original TDP for the AR-15 bo of and boot carrier specified hard chrome. Once the Vietnam War kicked off and they were issuing the M16 in the thousands, Colt and their 3rd party chrome plating company were having trouble with cracks causing high reject/failure rates; but the main thing was Big Army was being cheap.

Over the years there's been the debate to download mags or not so that they seat when loading. If a loaded mag (fully loaded or not) is giving you problems seating on a closed bolt, is it probably due to the rails on the carrier not being in spec? This would make sense as to the main culprit of that issue.

So are the Sand cuts worth $190?
Microbest makes BCGs for BCM, Expo Arms and others who all ultimately make their product inferior to Microbest's by putting on crappy springs, NiB finishes, or coated extractors.
*IMO* Microbest is the BCG you should put in nearly every rifle, unless you want to spend $400+ for microscopic benefits that .001% of shooters will actually notice.

Have you ever done an inspection on a Cryptic coatings BCG? I’m pretty sure it’s just a Tool-craft BCG with a special coating that Cryptic applies. I’m curious to see how thick their coatings are and if it has potential impact on performance. I have a few I haven’t used yet and can send you one for your videos if you can send it back. Having the choice would you also use a hard chromed bolt and just a nitrated extractor or have both nitrated?
Realistically, these are nice, but are we actually benefiting from the sand cuts. I could see how they could help if I was fighting in a war in a dirty environment with thousands of rounds. For civilians it just seems like a cool feature

From what I understand, its a fairly standard BCG that can take many AR15 parts. Kinda concerned how it will handle 7.62 pressure however..
I'll definitely be picking a few of these up once they start releasing with bolts. I was planning on purchasing prior to seeing this video, but if anything I'm more confident in the quality of these carriers now. I would be genuinely surprised if the bolts left anything to be desired.

Have you ever done a physical on any products from HM Defense? They have the monobloc barrels and the bolt design where the cam pin doesn't go all the way thru the bolt. Just wondering if they are reliable products? Doesn't seem to be much hype at all with their barrels and bolts.
I'm not sure if the sand cuts are actually worth it, nor are they an improvement. It might allow grit into the fire control group. Idk. It's something I was thinking right about now.
So would it be safe to assume that an AR exhibiting under-gassed symptoms while simultaneously dumping an ass load of smoke back in your face when shooting (unsuppressed) has too much slop where the bolt tail fits into the carrier?
I’ve never had the luxury of owning a KAC carrier before but I’ve read comments. What is your opinion on extra wear on the receiver, and or lube issues?

What bolts do they plan on using? I've bought quite a few BCG's that the bolts don't pass the specs - the cam pin holes are too large, and the bolt tail is not to spec.
I use a Colt bolt with mine, it functions and seems to gauge out nicely, MPI HP tested. The bolt carrier is a work of art.
