"Queen of the Reich" is on Queensrÿche's self-titled debut EP.
My wife is a damn good singer who, when she was eighteen, disappointed her vocal teachers by choosing to go into medical school rather than become a voice major. When my beloved saw this video, she said, "I wouldn't want to follow that."
I don't blame her. It would take a very special choice of song to be able to go up after that. Like some Pirate looking guy singing Whitney Houston. HAHA.
Degarmo actually wrote this for another band, but added it to the debut EP once they formed Queensryche. It is also how they came up with the band name. They couldnt come up with anything, so just joined Queen and Ryche together.
This was after an Unleash the Archers show in Edinburgh. The band went to a club to unwind and Brittney decided to do some karaoke.
In my mind is someone who has a song up next looking at the person running Karaoke and doing the hand across the throat gesture. Like, cancel my song!!

Brit just doesn't have many blemishes...surprised? nope. not me.

It's the power she carries into ANYTHING she sings... she is one of my top 3 female vocalists.
... It doesn't hurt that she looks a bit like my high school sweetie... no, wait... yeah, that hurts a lot.
Anyway, great song, great reaction, great people watching it.
I am not surprised in the least. Singing is something that should be effortless. There should be no strain. When you see someone try to hit a note, that should be in their range, and has a difficult time, that is all mental. You can take the same singer, and suggest they suddenly sway to one side, or bow when trying to hit that note, and suddenly they can. The brain becomes occupied with that movement and the body can do it's thing without the brain holding it back. Like Pharrell says "You even fail better without nerves" to paraphrase.

After your opening comments, I would invite you to listen to Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime in its entirety. It's a masterpiece and Geoff Tate had one of the best voices in rock.
I have heard Mind Crime, it's awesome. I haven't heard it in quite some time though. Maybe that is a good idea for a Twitch stream.

Unfortunately there aren't too many good quality live videos out there from them. They did a live stream concert when they released Abyss last year that was amazingly good, but it hasn't popped up anywhere that I've seen. The footage from the Alcatraz festival this year is pretty good quality too, but I'm really looking forward to videos from when they finally get to play at Wacken.
Since you brought up the Northwest Passage reaction, another song you really need to check out is A Sailor's Tale by Orbit Culture. Not power metal, but a bit of a shanty vibe going on there too.
OH do I LOVE me a Shanty. That was the original idea for this channel. I would be dressed in the Pirate Costume, and I was taking popular songs, and writing parody versions of them. Then I would change all the instrumentation to Accordions, and other Piratey instruments. The first one was going to be a parody of Justin Timberlake's "Sexy Back" called "Shanty Back" It still may happen, but would involve a lot of time put into them.

And, I did listen to the original -- and I gotta say, Brittney's vocals are actually better than Geoff Tate's was -- and that was when he was in his prime! Plus, I find it fitting that Queensryche had a drummer named Scott too, lol -- so maybe it was fate UtA covered Queen of the Reich? The other thing is, I like the faster tempo of the cover, versus the original -- which is why I say Brittney and the UtA boys more than did the original song justice.
And before I go, Cap'n, I don't know if ye heard, but Unleash the Archers may have finally broken their own curse: "The Curse of the Missing Bassist"! A few days ago, the band announced that their tour bassist is becoming a full-fledged member of the band! His name is Nick Miller, and I guess he's been playing for Unleash the Archers ever since Niko, the bassist in the Awakening video, left the band.
