This band! A buddy of mine shared their live Jimmy Kimmel performance tonight and i've spend the last hour listening, never heard of em before. How. Did. I. Miss. This. Shit! You ask what bands they sound like and I get little Tragically Hip mixed with a little chilli Peppers , shuffle demons and Primus. There was some experimental shit I heard on that UWO radio station back in the mid 80's, I wonder if Mike came from that or was influenced by it. Either way, for a band that was just thrown together and forced to sink or swim, what a magical pairing!

Why is it that people do not do a basic search of the band for things like ages, relationship to other members. For the record, they are in fact a family thing. They are all siblings. It's irritating not having basic info so you dont dumb as a box of rocks and automatically not going negative. Research, please, basic research.

In an interview Ren said that Hi Ren was a one take, the third take they did. They didn't have permission to be in the basement they were in, and they had 4 cameras and two mics. As they were finishing the second take, the building manager walked in and asked them to leave. They begged for another 30 minutes and that was the take they used. However, the very end part when he turns from putting down the guitar and starts talking is a separate take. They were allowed to go back when the building manager helped them submit the correct paperwork. Post production was them just taking footage from the various cameras they had set up to auto record.

Eight months old, but yeah, Einars' voice has changed a bit over time... but this album especially stands out. I love how it's all in service of it's super dry, almost sickly sound? It sounds like someone left a record out in the sun for a few decades, you stuck it back on a player and it's just tired of life. Definitely the darkest album they've put out.

I mean, this band CAN PLAY....the composition is insane and the effort put in every minute of this is clear! so proggy! Such a shame there's no new music by them, i sincerely hope they come up with something new!
