  • Riding on an abandoned road from the gold mining town of Mahdia in the Guyana Highlands to Shirabama on the Essiquibo River . The bike is a Jialing JH 125 , a Chinese copy of an old Honda XL125 . This was part of a three month long trip trough Guyana , Northern Brazil and the Gran Sabana region of Venezuela in 2014 . After 6600 km's , the bike proved to be tough and as reliable as an axe .

My friend and I want to take a trip by motorcycle from Guyana to Brazil. Do you have any tips for us?

Yes Jayden . Take a hammock , there are plenty of shelters where you can hang a hammock for free or very cheaply . I recommend taking a side trip to Mahdia . From there you should be able to organize a boat trip up the Potaro River to the Kaiteur Falls, the most spectacular sight in Guyana . The abandoned Garroway Stream road that I took has since been rebuilt, so travelling there will be much easier . If you want to buy a bike there , I can recommend Jailing in Georgetown , they also sell Hondas . I don't know about re-selling a bike in Brazil , but it was easy enough to do in Georgetown . Good luck !

Waow you deserve more views! Brilliant video! I'm thinking of buying a 2002 Jialing trail bike 124cc... Do you think I should go have a look at it?

Mine was tough and reliable , but it was a brand new bike . A 20 year old bike may still be ok if it has been well maintained , and hasn't done too much work .All the best .
