    Thank you for talking & showing the broad aspects as well as details. Drip edges and flashing are tricky!

    We have a very old sunroom in a winter climate and the roof is leaking in the middle of the room, but not at the drip edge where it attaches to the house. We were thinking about using a repair kit meant for repairing aluminum RV roofs to seal over all the seams?

      If it is a sunroom it's probably leaking through the seem on the lock. I think what your are planning on doing should work good on those seams.

    I have a finished sunroom with a couch and tv, underneath a aluminum awning. It lasted pretty good, now I’m getting leaks and rain in nyc has gotten worse. I used Henry 100% silicone 2 coats still some leaks. Is there any shingle type material I can use without having to nail or screw down? This video was very informative. Thank you

      Are you looking to shingle the top of the awning?

    Good video, how do you fix the flashing screw scenario? Can you just seal the that area with silicone? Or clear water proof caulking?

    • @utahawnings
      @utahawnings  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You can just silicone over the screws on top. Same with where the flashing over laps. Silicone will wear down over time, though. So, depending on how harsh of weather you get, you might have to re-apply more often. Spend the extra money couple of bucks to get good quality 100% silicone. Gaco also works great as well.

    OMG.. when does the instructions start?

      yeah i don't think he tells you how to fix anything, just rambling for views

      I apologize if the instructions provided in the video were unclear. Please use the first part of the video to help identify the source of the water leakage through the awning.If you determine that the issue is with the flashing-whether it's overlapping or where it's screwed down-apply 100% waterproof silicone to seal those areas. Should you find that flashing is missing, you'll need to purchase and install the appropriate flashing.If the problem is related to the drip edge, I recommend consulting a roofer to make the necessary repairs. For gutter-related issues, the first step is to clean out the gutter. If the issue persists, it may be necessary to adjust the gutter so that the awning panels can overhang into it more effectively. Additionally, ensure that everything is properly sloped to prevent water from flowing in the wrong direction, which could be contributing to the problem.Again, I apologize if the instructions in the video were unclear. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need further clarification.

    Whats the best way to mount the screen to the cover? I ended up using a 2x4 on some hooks, but it would look better mounted directly to a beam.

    • @utahawnings
      @utahawnings  ปีที่แล้ว

      Depending on where you live there will be steal inside the beam. Either way some metal self tapping screws should allow you to screw directly to the beam. If you are wanting to add the screen to the side of the awning, you probably need to add a level beam on the side that goes from the existing beam to the house.

    I have a cover like the one in this video that’s about 15 years old. It’s all good but where the seem is on the gutter piece it is leaking. Is there something I can do or dkk on I have to replace the entire thing?

    • @utahawnings
      @utahawnings  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm guessing it's where the gutter is spliced together, if I'm understanding it right. You probably just need to clean out the gutter where the splice is and re-silicone that spot from the inside of the gutter. That is a VERY pesky spot, hard to get to without taking the gutter off and hard to get the seal perfect. It can be done though. Worse case scenario is take the gutter off and take it apart. We usually put silicone on the gutter before we slide the splice into it.

    Mine leaks at the seam where the roof meets the house overhang. It had a piece of plastic to keep water pushing up against house during storms in Florida, don't know where to get something like that. How can I repair and what should I use? Thanks

    can water be coming back in even with a slope? i believe it leaking from the gutter.... ?????

    • @utahawnings
      @utahawnings  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes. If the panel doesn't overhang past the lip of the gutter, it can roll back. Similar to when you pour water out of a cup. It's just easier the less slope you have. The solution would be unscrew the gutter and slide it in about a half an inch. You'd also have to trim down the side facia. That would be the right way to do it. You could silicone that from the top, but it's actually pretty hard to do, and won't be super permanent.
