      Ridgeline is good but it's more of a car with a bed.

    Great review. Over the past 40 years I have owned a Toyota Tacoma, Ford Ranger, Ford Courier and Chevy Silverado. I bought a 2021 Honda Ridgeline truck and love it! The Ridgeline it is the best truck I have ever owned.

      I have owned a Ridgeline for 13 years, pulled 4000 lb trailer with all my gear all over this country, 170000 miles it has never let me down, can fit a Honda generator and all my tools in the in bed trunk , all I've ever done to it is regular maintenance. And it ain't bad off-road , I put aftermarket skid plates on it, it will go anywhere a Ford ranger will.

      No arguments from me about a Ford Ranger being a stealthy competitor on the midsize truck market, but my ownership experience was not good. The ride quality was poor on my Ranger and the build quality of all the Ford vehicles I have owned was worse. I have owned 4 Ford vehicles over my life and have replaced one engine, got rid of one as the engine was going out, AC line leaked water in the cab on our shoes on another, it was purchased new and never had a Ford service department that could repair it. I could go on and on, but you get the point. Enjoy your Ranger, I'll keep my Honda Ridgeline!

    I get the comparisons and criticisms, but still find it to be a compelling choice. Do not have faith in small turbo engines. Do wish they had gotten rid of Honda timing belt, if that goes welcome to shelled motor. So, expensive turbo failure or expensive timing belt maintenance? Thinking the V6 Frontier looking better and better.

      The Frontier uses a timing belt too, and both are interference engines.

      @@debbiekonkin5768 Points well taken and I am not an expert, but FORD has experienced overheating, oil leaks, injector malfunction and turbo failure. Ok, I admit to being an “old school” guy. And I recognize new tech takes time and highly recommend the cost of an extended warranty.

    The Honda Ridgeline looks like a sport truck and needs a Mugen Edition. Back in the days of MiniTruckin magazine the Chevy S10 was the most popular truck. I saw a Ridgeline on the road with gold rims and it looked like a cross between an import car and a truck and it looked really good. Every truck doesn't need to be a 4x4 off-road machine with a lift and large knobby tires. The GMC Syclone still has a reputation as a cool, extremely fast truck with a cult following.

      @@debbiekonkin5768 Performance where? Performance on the street? Performance in deep mud or rock crawling? Most of the 4x4s I see on the road are STREET ONLY 4x4s. Most Jeeps, broncos, Raptors, etc are only used on paved roads like a SUV. The El Camino was a car/truck that was street only and was based on the Ranchero. The Ranchero was created because a Australian woman wrote to Ford requesting a vehicle she could drive to church on Sunday and then take pigs to market on Monday. Not every vehicle needs to be twin locked with a 6 inch lift. I saw several TH-cam videos of LS swapped Nissan Frontiers that are high speed all-wheel drive sport trucks.

      @@debbiekonkin5768 There have been plenty of unibody sports cars. For some people they work fine. For other people that want more power there are aftermarket braces that connect the front and rear to strengthen the car. It doesn't matter how capable the Ranger is if you are just using it for commuting to and from work in the city. There are plenty of good, even great, trucks for offroad use. But why should Honda try to build an offroad truck when they already have a great street truck. The Hyundai Santa Cruz, Honda Ridgeline, and Ford Maverick are great street trucks for people that don't need to tow heavy trailers but want to carry stuff in the back for home repair projects or whatever.

    I’ve been looking to downsize to a Midsize truck for the last 20 years, although I couldn’t find one with the interior space, ride quality and power etc. that i desired, (didn’t like the styling of previous Ridgeline prior to 2017)
    I tow a 22 Ft. 4,200 Lb. camper with my 23 Ridgeline using a weigh distribution hitch system w/electric trailer brakes, it handles the load very well and still has good ride quality while towing, what can I say it’s a great tough midsize Truck, SUV, UTE whatever you wanna call it!

      @@martyi398 Thanks for the crucial real-world towing info. I currently occasionally tow a 4,000 lb (loaded) travel trailer with a Ford Flex and am thinking about the Ridgeline. I would never take the trailer up and down the Rockies with the Flex or the Ridgeline, but for normal road towing the Flex does fine.

    Ridgeline still has a timing belt!!!!!

    • @71gmonet
      @71gmonet 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Yes, but it also has the space to work on which makes it much easier to replace the belt. However, the job is on the higher end of skill level. The hydraulic belt tensioner goes out before the timing belt and acts as a warning to change both. You get the entire kit that and it also includes the water pump. While you’re there you can also reseal the oil pump to avoid future oil leaks. Then you have pretty much covered all the bases for that side of the engine. The cost range of this maintenance is 1-2k depending on the mechanic. Unfortunately it is much more expensive today like everything else.
      Every vehicle regardless of make will require maintenance. I agree with you that if you plan to hold onto the vehicle for a long time you should know what you are getting yourself into. This engine has been used across many Honda models and is very reliable if maintained.
