I haven't been there for years but I thought there were more gardens on that banking and a little teashop place somewhere near the bottom. It looks different anyway. It's still a nice coastline but disgusting how they're polluting the sea and all the rivers with sewage. Best wishes.
Hi Myra hope you and your husband are well. Yes there were more gardens along the right hand side after the cliff lift in North bay that has gone. Looking at old videos and photographs this areas has been totally decimated. I could see the pollution floating in the sea and kept away from the spray. It looked disgusting. Best Tim
Kinderland, Watersplash (Atlantis), The Pool on the hill, Mr Marvels and the chairlifts, The Corner Cafe and the funicular to the top of the hill. Even Peasholme Park doesn't seem the same.
So sad if you were around in those times. I saw a video of Peasholm Park and the Naval war fare, looked like a football match with the banking all the way around completely full.
I remember it well, when i was young going to see the killer whale and the dinosaur park, it was amazing at just 7 years of age. But sadly, like most seaside towns, the council don’t seem to care, and they all have gone way down hill over the years. Very sad to see.
I was born in Scarborough in the early 70s, so many of the fond memories of places iI have from that time have disappeared... I remember walking around marine drive on a boxing day and going to the corner cafe for a hot chocolate... corner cafe rip
The small businesses that provided character and friendliness to a resort have all been swept away by councils that only want corporate investment so that they can charge the highest possible rates. Scarborough is better than most seasides, but it has always been a rip-off for the visitors. I can remember as a child how the price of ice creams would suddenly double after Easter, the start of the holiday season. Double the price for half as much ice cream in your cornet!!! Come again next summer....
I have been back many time as an adult and never recollect the sea being in the way it was. My dad used to take us down to see the sea crashing on the sea front early in the morning. The tide has always been out at the Spa end when I have gone and has a child the North Bay was always out and packed with people.
I was confused, no Lido, the indoor pool in North Bay had gone, walked down to Scalby Mills and the map showed the Pool somewhere back from where I had come.@@thisisnumber0

The whole essence of North Bay destroyed, whereas South Bay seems un changed.

9.00 the tide times change everyday that’s why the seas coming in and when you were a kid it was prob low tide

The swimming pool is just in front of the Sealife Centre. I think they call it the North Sea or something. It's really big🤪
I looked on the map and it was halfway between the pyramids and the old corner cafe.
