This is Samoa's Sacred National Anthem. It is sung in any church, village, family, or any special occasion. The words by a London Missionary, James E. Newell, depict the true love of Samoans who treasure their islands in their hearts, wherever they reside in this world. The beautiful tune was composed by a prolific composer of Samoan church and traditional music, Mata'utia Pene Solomona.(b.1890s - d.1970s). I'm blessed to witness him writing music, and directing choirs, and brass bands (1960s). He was also a great pianist.

May the words and tune of Lota Nu'u ( our first National Hymn composed by LMS Missionaries) and Manu ole Vaveao ( An old folk song describing Samoa's people) Beautiful close harmony!
I have never heard a Samoan Hymn sung in such a beautiful way. All the parts were blended so well together and the voices in this little clip showed so much. So many different harmonies but it came out so well.

This gave me chills. Awesome performance. Love seen a multicultural group. Not only Samoans can sing thier own music. Malo to the teachers also.
