During the 7th generation of consoles, action adventure games where a dime a dozen, especially movie property ones so how do you stand out?, you make a star wars one.
Where you play as Vader's apprentice, so you are alongside the greatest villain of all time!.
That sold over 9 million copies and launched a sequel 2 years later, BUT are they even good games?
Let's take a look at the star wars the force unleashed series.
The project bridges the first two Star Wars trilogies, acting as an origin story for both the united Rebel Alliance and the Galactic Civil War depicted in the original trilogy. The game introduces a new protagonist named "Starkiller", a powerful Force user trained as Darth Vader's secret apprentice, who is tasked with hunting down Jedi survivors of the Great Jedi Purge while trying to keep his existence a secret.
The game takes place approximately six months after the events of the first game, and a year before the film A New Hope. The Force Unleashed II is described as the "dark entry" in the series, and a more personal story for the game's protagonist than the first game. Players control a clone of Starkiller, the first game's protagonist and Darth Vader's secret apprentice who sacrificed himself after helping to form the Rebel Alliance.

I had a PS1 all the way up until the PS3 came down to a reasonable price. The first Force Unleashed was the first game I got for it and it blew me away. I've gotten to the point that the Force users and lightsaber fighting are my least favorite part of Star Wars. Rogue One/Andor are my favorite Star Wars media of all time now, but I still look back at this game with the rosiest of tinted glasses.

Sadly I highly doubt there will be one due to Disney decanonizing all the games. If they do a third game it will be rebooted and drastically changed.

the only star wars game that's better is KOTOR and I will die on this hill. the new games look nice but they're so concerned about balance a force push feels like a tap and lightsabers feel like wooden sticks.

*better than force unleashed 1 i should say, 2, as you said, is worse in almost every way. I love it because it introduces cool lore, the super meter is nice, and that's about it

That's because it's realistic to the actual rules of the SW universe lol... Force Unleashed series is the most absurd, over the top crap of all time. Fun, yes, but absurd. The Fallen Order games are better in literally every single way (other than physics), especially with the combat/lightsabers. It gets absurdly annoying in force unleashed when I want to slash a trooper, but I slash him with a gigantic blade of force lightning instead, lol...
