Excellent point about Mossman not making the Walmart Cancel-lectorcon last year. With Walmart's track record, seems kind of a low chance for them to have motu preorders later this week. And even if they go up, there's a high chance they'll cancel them a few months later. Hopefully the exclusivity of the snakemen is timed, and much more reliable sources for motu product get them.
I'm in the UK and have used The Whole Shebang to get a number of exclusives and even figures from the recent Origins and Masterverse wave. For the most part they are good, but I also believe they can have their deliveries delayed. Despite ordering Duplico back in February and Moss Man May/June, I'm still waiting on both to be dispatched as they keep having their release date pushed back. I understand it's beyond their control and it's certainly better than paying a scalper who marks up the price of figures due to their "rarity", but it is annoying when I have to pay up front as the preorders usually drop during pricy months, exclusives like Moss Man rarely last long (I think he sold out by the end of the day the listing went live) and months go by with seemingly no sign of it being dispatched.
Same, TWS hasn't disappointed me yet. Saves on shipping from the US, but definitely takes longer to arrive compared to ordering from BBTS, for example. Still waiting on Moss Man, Skeleton Warriors, and Snake Mountain. Smyth's also have Moss Man for pre-order, but I haven't dealt with them before.
I have found any UK hobby shop supplier seems to suffer from having the ship dates pushed back, its how reguarly they update the shipping status info that eases the pain here i find. Smyths i can confirm are great for items but never done a pre-order with them until now. I have Moss Man pre-ordered with TWS and Smyths but i do worry Mossy will become another 'Rise Of Evil' two pack and be rare then flooded with stock causing its value to crash. We do get punished (As always) in the UK with most suppliers expecting money up front for pre-orders unlike BBTS.
The solution is simple. Put up the pre-orders for 4 months. Never take them down. Order as many as you want. Once the 4 months have passed, make and ship the figures out. No more random 30 second windows at 4 in the morning on a random Tuesday as your only way of getting one of these exclusives.
As usual, no motu origins drop/pre-orders at Wal-Mart Collector Con today (10/13/23). My Wal-Mart in MI has a dozen Moss Man figures sitting on the shelf for over a week now. Distribution is so all or nothing with this line. I bought two Moss Man figs there a couple of months ago. They sold out, and now they're in abundance.

I wouldn't mind having Grasp, Terroar, and NF Tunnel Rat but dealing with WM is such a nightmare that they can go **** themselves with their collector con. If it shows up in my local store, great. If not, oh well. My retro Zartan and Storm Shadow are still showing "delayed--check back later" over a YEAR since I pre-ordered them. >.
MATTEL CANADA has killed it up here sadly ...WALLY has no more peg spots or shelf spots ...and TRU CANADA ...well we know where they sit ..OLD STOCK at regular super high prices...argggghhhhh
@@ZOMb2010 Origins figures sold well, the first shipment would be scooped up immediately by scalpers, and on rare occasions there would be a 2nd shipment of a wave.....last wave Walmart got in was Clawful wave, and then nothing after.......Ram-Man & Clamp Champ clogged pegs, they did not have enough added value to justify their Deluxe prices.......vehicles were overpriced to begin with, nobody & their parents could afford them!!
Walmart or Target exclusives is a funny way of saying eBay exclusives. 🙂
