Hey Ron. You did SUPER WELL with this. Great talk through, great personality. You might not know it, but this type of stuff inspires others(me certainly) that things can be done. A BIG THANKS for taking the time to share it.
Ha, just watched your shop tour and started looking. Knew I could find the build, I think I could find enough to make this happen! Thanks mate, great project, junk hunting I will be!
As they say... Necessity is the mother of invention!! Also, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Wait until you see mine😉 Thx again, great job!
Hi Ron, I've looked at some three or four dozen videos, getting ready to build one of my own, and wanted to say, you did really well with yours, pretty much singular in it's handiness, and proportional size. I've got a piece of shafting, 60 pounds or so, for one, and will attempt to get as close to your "working size" as I can, with it, and the necessary anvil mass, but I really like the clean, neat package of your rotating head, and the linkage, as well as the beautifully clean clutch, motor drive setup, I think that's the best, most direct I've seen. That's a right fine setup. Thanks for showing it. Semper Fi.
Wow!!! Thanks so much John That is exactly what I was going for. Not much out there like it. Neat compact and simple was my goal and more or less a proof of concept. I would love to see yours Plenty of room for modification Send pics. Good luck.
Ron Thank you for sharing you brilliant creation. I have access to all the scrap material you used in your power hammer. We keep what we have by giving it away. May your generosity be rewarded by many productive happy years of retirement. i have subscribed to your channel...looking forward to greater thing from your good self. God Bless
Ron, man you got some neat stuff layin around your shop. You sell stuff? We have an antique steam and gas show locally once a year but, MAN!, people have gone nuts with prices. Thank you Forged In Fire. That's a sweet little piece of work you created.
This is so cool! I'm totally limited for space so I couldn't have any of the big machines. It's encouraging to see this could work on a smaller scale, too - I'm not planning on any big work. Now I need to start finding some stock.. Thanks for sharing!
Yes , That's big enough to work into my small forage area for my part-time hobby plans. Please do tell me more I am very interested .I've built my coal forage, built my anvil, built a few hardy tools.Got foundation done and building 13 x12' shed , got a heavy vise .After shed complete I might try copying this. I to would do exchangeable dies. Thanks for showing .This is nice.
Thanks. I’m not sure of the spring I just found it in the scrap pile just get something that gives good resistance back when you apply pressure good luck with your hammer
Hi Mr Robicheaux, I’m looking for scrap parts to assemble sth like yours😅 ... but what kind of spring is yours, where did you get yours? Btw, many thanks for your post! Great great great 😎👌
Thanks for your interest. Not Interested in making another one but I have had several people copy my design. It is very straightforward and easy to build I’m sure you could do it thanks again
Hey. Just noticing your comment. Thanks for the compliment ! The offset is 2inches. Tried to keep it compact for stability. Lots of room for improvement. Built more as a proof of concept. Works well for me. Good luck. Love to see what you come up with. Ron
That is a good looking hammer. I like your forge the way it is setup ,I have 2 of those blowers from my late uncle &that was the way I want to do my forge.did you have to use any special bricks or fire cement to build it?
Thanks for the compliment actually I built the Forge out of treated plywood framed up with two by fours and then I put thin brick veneer’s works perfectly cheap and easy
great build Ron! yes interchangeable tooling and little more throat (hammer to anvil space) for those upsetting jobs and tooling. control looks great with your motor mount but does the hammer give you ability to give very soft blows? once again very cool!
Thanks for the compliment. No plans but recommend making a working model out of wood like I did. Easier to tweak your design before you cut metal. Good luck! Send pics when you make yours. Ron
14 pounds. Not sure of the RPMs it is missing the badge but I experimented with different size pulleys thank you for the compliment good luck making yours
hi, very nice! good job! :) seems to work pretty well. Does the center part not touch/hit the spring when getting up? Thanks for reply and again WOW, compact, beautiful and very handy!!
Looking for parts and trying the same model! It seems to be very handy and space saving! Thank you for your response and for sharing this amazing project with the world! 👍👍👍 merry X-mas and happy new year!
Huge Respect for this! I dont quite understand the purpose of the spring, i have seen hammer of this style with a spring in between the arms, what does it actually provide as a benefit? Kind Regards =)

It keeps the hammer in the upright position after you strike with the hammer the spring brings it back up for you to hit it again

yeah its cool and I'm late to the party. BUT why did you not mount ot on something solid? that table bounce killed its power.
Good observation! I could stiffen it but it’s not a problem for me. I mainly use it for flattening straightening texturing and planishing.
