Wow, is that crazy cool. I guess it's similar to fossilization in a way, except that it takes a little less time and lots more resin! The first idea that jumped out at me was an easier way to micarta. But you could probably de-bubble small castings with it, too. Good luck ;)
"now at this point you are thinking what I am thinking... can you stabilize bread?" Do you know, diet coke burns when it comes out of your nose? I found that out after that statement. Thanks
I was gonna suggest you make a bunch of coasters out of bread slices, but all the other suggestions in the comments are way better. I wanna see a butter knife with a bread handle!
I've also noticed a lot of people want to see a bread knife... How about you (1)Stabilize an entire loaf of bread, (2)Cut off 1/3 or 1/4 of it and make those into the knife handles and (3)Use the rest as the "Butcher's Block" to hold the knives. It'll LOOK Like A Loaf... BUT Will Be A Knife Set.
I think it'd be interesting to see a multi-layer bread butter knife handle! Put the whole wheat and white bread on top of each other and then put it in the vacuum chamber!
Michael Diehl that would be cool as well!!! I just think that doing something with bread is an obvious project! Even a Bread chessboard would be really interesting lol... it was really interesting to see the bread adhere to each other and show no signs of coming apart. I wonder what a PB&J or a different type of sandwich would look like after being in the chamber lol... I would use the other pot and put the sandwich into another bowl to avoid the mess
You need to cut the crusts from bread, stabilize it, then cast the pieces of stabilized bread together into boards. Then you can make a bread box out of bread.
or just stabilize an entire loaf at once, then cut out what you need (if you need moving parts, this may be an issue, and you may have to do what the OP said)
Butter isn't a solid in the same way that flour is solid, its a saturated fat so it changes depending on the temperature. Its not porous so it won't absorb resin. He's already experimented with casein which is plastic made from milk solids.
whole loaf of stabilized whole wheat bread. Turn a section of it on the lathe into a handle and then cut a serrated knife out of the rest to make a bread bread knife!!!
You should try to stabilize two fruit halves such as a blood orange, pomegranate, or a dragon fruit. Glue both sections back together and then turn them down and check out all of the crazy contrasting layers.
I want to see you stabilize something with colored resin. I want to see if it would even work. Would the wood filter out the dye? Would it be a consistent dye throughout the wood? These are the questions I want answered!!
Arghhhh. I want to stabilize so bad. I started resin casting, but I have a lot of wood that need to be stabilized first. Also, if they watched your channel, they should have fully expected you to stabilize bread.
Stabilize a lot of tiny soaps, and then make them into a soap dish. Or one jumbo-sized bar of soap, to make a soap dish for a regular-sized bar of soap.
Thanks! I've seen so many people work with resin and some use vacuum chambers and some use pressure pots, but they never explain the difference, or why you would use one over the other. As always, Peter to the Rescue!
Yay, finally another episode. I even learnt something. Also, this is probably the only time ever I'll hear someone using humming birds as a measuring unit for weight. XD
Peter: Now at this point you're probably thinking the same thing im thiinking Me: Oh well thats a useful piece of wood, whats he gonna make with that? Peter: Can we stabilize bread? Me: What the....
Geez, you're going to have to be careful with that device and bread.. Imagine if you had used Wonder Bread, which is already inherently stable and will still be around after the heat death of the universe and all.. Put that in the chamber with too much resin and turn on the vacuum and you could have caused the universe to implode!!
I think it'd be interesting to see you try to make a handle for a shower brush out of sponge that went through the stabilizing process. Fascinating video, by the way!
Stabilize a whole loaf of bread and use it to make a secret safe. Who would ever think to look for your collection of bread recipes INSIDE of a loaf of bread? It's genius!
stablilize that 1 pink almost sponge bottle stopper you made when those 2 resins reacted weird and foamed up and try to pull colored resin into the openings and make a 2 colored bottle stopper
Stabilise all the ingredients for your favourite sandwich and then cast the complete sandwich in a block of clear resin. No other reason than because you can.
Praise the algorithm for showing this to me, because I want to start doing cactus juice stabilization. Friend gave me an awesome maple burl that is just too ratty to use without.
Hey Peter - read up on the use of a "cold pot" - it goes between the chamber and the pump, and condenses the vapors from the resin so that it doesn't eat your pump. You're essentially making the Cactus Juice boil at room temp - and the gas-off apparently eats seals. Some companies will not guarantee their pump if you don't buy a cold pot as part of your rig...... I can't tell for sure because I don't really know this company or their products - but it looks like they sent you a cold pot as part of the deal. Happy hardening!
Ian Salisbury I don't know man, marshmallows are full of air, videos of them in vac chambers show them expanding and then shrinking afterwards because of the loss of air. Would be an easy and cheap experiment to try out.
I suspect a problem you're going to run into with things that are still alive is that they're full of water, which could cause various different problems. A freeze dried rose could be cool, though
You don't think they were thinking you'd try to stabilize something crazy like bread when they sent you the vacuum chamber? I mean have they NOT seen your channel before?! It's kind of your calling card to put food in resin. And we all love you for doing it too!
Wow, is that crazy cool. I guess it's similar to fossilization in a way, except that it takes a little less time and lots more resin!
The first idea that jumped out at me was an easier way to micarta. But you could probably de-bubble small castings with it, too. Good luck ;)
Oh i was just about to hop down here and say he should do a micarta comparison of this vs the other method
You've stabilized bread, casted bacon, and dipped plants.
It's time to make an impenetrable BLT.
NotOnLand yes
OMG YES.
Yes please
Yes. YES THIS IS GOOD.
Yes please
You're the perfect kind of insane Peter. Don't ever change.
"now at this point you are thinking what I am thinking... can you stabilize bread?" Do you know, diet coke burns when it comes out of your nose? I found that out after that statement. Thanks
Pow! I was reading that, EXACTLY the same time as he said it in the vid.
atleast its not sticky idk how to get sticky out of my nose
your body deals with internal sticky on its own
Milk spoils in your nostrils. But i've known that for years.
An un-sliced loaf, right?
You sir are a genius
Stabilize a brat bun or sub loaf for bread knife scales? Or possibly turn said load for rasp or file handles?
YES!
Awesome idea.
I think it'd be interesting to see a multi-layer bread butter knife handle! Put the whole wheat and white bread on top of each other and then put it in the vacuum chamber!
I was thinking either that or a cutting board made from multiple bread types.
Phillip Taylor yes
A bread chessboard, yeah! The squares will be made of white bread alternating with pumpernickel. And the chessmen will be different mini-pastries.
Gary Cooper forgot all about pumpernickel bread for a different color of bread! Don't they even make the little squares of pumpernickel?
I almost need that bread to be turned in the handle of a bread knife.
So cool!
Was going to suggest this too.
Argh, you got in before me... Bread knife handle is so Peter Brown
it could always maybe make a cute little plate for like a single serving of butter or jam or something
You need to cut the crusts from bread, stabilize it, then cast the pieces of stabilized bread together into boards. Then you can make a bread box out of bread.
or just stabilize an entire loaf at once, then cut out what you need (if you need moving parts, this may be an issue, and you may have to do what the OP said)
That’s what I was thinking. Bread box made out of bread.
Urahara1001 But I thought resin wasn't foodsafe?
Bread bread box
That’s an AWESOME idea!!!
The bread reminds me of those preserved food magnets that my parents had as a kid.
You should make a butter knife with the stabilized bread.
Finally the toast stand made of toast can be made!
We must do this
pathetic mortal or a breadbox
pathetic mortal what a great idea toast rack made of toast lol
BREAD BOX MADE OUT OF BREAD
Or bread bowl.
Omg this!!!
genius
Make a bread knife or chopping board..
Would that be like. Using solar power to run an AC unit???
After seeing this. You should totally make a BREAD bowl. For the pun, and to see if it could actually happen.
NickSandwichGames please this.
My first thought
Was going to suggest this as well
NickSandwichGames wouldn't this have the same problem as a popcorn bowl?
I was going to suggest this also
The perks of being an amazing TH-camr! $300+ vacuum products for free!!! Perfect guy to promote their products and business!!!
Dip it number whatever Butter knife made from stabilized bread
That's a cool idea. A butter knife handle
made out of bread.
Yes please!
Use Marble Rye
Or.... a butter knife made from butter?
Butter isn't a solid in the same way that flour is solid, its a saturated fat so it changes depending on the temperature. Its not porous so it won't absorb resin.
He's already experimented with casein which is plastic made from milk solids.
whole loaf of stabilized whole wheat bread. Turn a section of it on the lathe into a handle and then cut a serrated knife out of the rest to make a bread bread knife!!!
I was thinking a butter bread knife handle
Breadception
Haha this is exactly what I was thinking
Alternating white and brown bread
Came here to make this comment
You should try to stabilize two fruit halves such as a blood orange, pomegranate, or a dragon fruit. Glue both sections back together and then turn them down and check out all of the crazy contrasting layers.
I scrolled down to see if anyone else was going to suggest stabilizing fruit!
I tried this a while back with no luck. I think the object needs to be dry first. Course, I only tried it once...
To much water. You would have to drive it, otherwise most resins won't properly cure if I remember correctly.
Well duh... you need to make a bread bowl.
You realize you have to make a bread knife with a bread handle now, right?
KineticCat yes, good idea.
KineticCat why a bread handle make a bread blade to cut bread!
Yep
I think this would make very cool looking knife scales!
Nah, make a bread bowl!
What if you stabilised a sausage then used it as a handle?
I already have a sausage as a handle.
hehehe
Uioman Cannot yes
That couldnt have been a better response
RichezPlays hehehe
Butter knife with a bread handle??? - Wifes Suggestion
Shop Time is my favorite anime
This channel is the epitome of all that is beautiful about the internet- the vague but empowering response to the absurd: "because why not?"
I want to see you stabilize something with colored resin. I want to see if it would even work. Would the wood filter out the dye? Would it be a consistent dye throughout the wood? These are the questions I want answered!!
Warped Legacy Google "stabwood box mod" it works 👍
You can add resin dye to cactus juice which would colorize the wood. Many vape mod companies make their boxes this way.
COOL stuff! I still want to see it done on this channel! lol
all i thought about when i saw he was stabilizing wood
it would work. nobleaudio.com uses it to make faceplates for headphones.
Bread box out of bread, obviously :)
Mark the Dark That is a perfect Peter twist on a job
As long as he doesn't try to make dovetails out of real doves.
Mark the Dark I like the way you think.
i was thinking bread knife. Make a handle out of the bread and attach it to a blade.
That is amazing! I love how it removes the air without compressing the item!
You still have a bit of Worm wood you could stabilize.
PLEASE! That's the best idea.
Correction: I am making an educated guess you still have worm wood.
I think now we need grilled cheese coasters.
forgotn1 for the cheese he could use that crappy milk stone stuff!
i agree with this
Yessssssss
That is so cool 😎 I think what I would like to see is a stabilised bread roll, then resin dipped and made into a reusable soup bowl 🍲
Arghhhh. I want to stabilize so bad. I started resin casting, but I have a lot of wood that need to be stabilized first. Also, if they watched your channel, they should have fully expected you to stabilize bread.
STABILIZED BREAD KNIFE.
PLEASE GOD MAKE SOMETHING OUT OF STABILIZED BREAD.
Stabilizing a kitchen sponge, and then casting it into a soap dish!
Charmaine Eng nice.
Yaaaaasss
Stabilize a lot of tiny soaps, and then make them into a soap dish. Or one jumbo-sized bar of soap, to make a soap dish for a regular-sized bar of soap.
Oh, or stabilize a huge bar of soap, then hollow it out and add a squirter valve to make a dispenser for liquid hand soap.
Charmaine Eng I
Now can you turn the bread into a bread knife handle??? 😜 🍞🔪
Can you spin the bread? Or is it still to weak to make the bread into something?
Oh no, it's incredibly hard! I can absolutely turn it on the lathe...
Peter Brown so cool my kids said you should make a superhero logo lol
breadbox made out of bread, you should do it
That is a great idea make a box out of bread or handles for a bread knife
A set of coasters made of bread slices.
XD
Unfortunately, the average hummingbird weighs 4 grams :\
Peter: Now at this point you're probably thinking the same thing im thiinking
Me: Oh well thats a useful piece of wood, whats he gonna make with that?
Peter: Can we stabilize bread?
Me: What the....
Thank you for making these videos. They helped me to get through my wisdom teeth being pulled.
You should stabilize a sponge, then cast it in resin, and make a wine topper that looks like a Champaign cork!!!!!!!
Geez, you're going to have to be careful with that device and bread.. Imagine if you had used Wonder Bread, which is already inherently stable and will still be around after the heat death of the universe and all.. Put that in the chamber with too much resin and turn on the vacuum and you could have caused the universe to implode!!
A whole new rabbit hole for the channel! I’m excited!
I think it'd be interesting to see you try to make a handle for a shower brush out of sponge that went through the stabilizing process. Fascinating video, by the way!
Let's go with the Ultimate Sacrilege option: coffee table made of stabilized bread
You know what you need to do now right? You need to stabilize an entire sandwich.
"Hey, Peter, how are you liking the Vacuum Chamber we sent you?"
"Oh it's great, made some toast with it."
Who is Brian?
Whoa...no idea how I managed to do that, must've been super tired.
You HAVE to do a dip it with a whole cheese burger now. Stabilize the buns and then put it all in a resin block! This would be awesome!!!
Bread coasters, bread cutting board, or even a bread bin! Loving it!
Make a "bread"board... a serving/bread cutting board out of stabilized bread
Random Timelapse Channel don't forget the handle to the bread knife
Stabilize a whole loaf of bread and use it to make a secret safe. Who would ever think to look for your collection of bread recipes INSIDE of a loaf of bread? It's genius!
Your videos are my absolute favorite. I’m so happy every time I see you’ve posted a video.
Turn an entire loaf of bread. Unsliced.
Can you stabilize marshmallows? To later cast a candy bowl
Oooh, I like that: but not many candies would lend themselves to stabilization.
This is the quality content I come here to see.
how about a butter knife handle for the stablized bread!!!
Ciera Paige this is so meta I wanna see it
butter that bread with some more bread
best idea!!!!!!!
Can you add pigment to stabilizing resin so that the infused object takes on some of the color? That could look so dope.
Elise Oziel You can. It looks amazing.
Really hope he does this
Best info I've heard on TH-cam about pressure vs vacuum and which to use and when.
Yeah! Finally a vac setup! Can’t wait to see how much fun you have. So many uses for what you do.
stabilize a whole loaf of bread and turn it on the lathe please
Amazing. I have no idea what just happened but You’re so much fun to watch!!
Stabilise a loaf of bread, cut it into boards and make a breadbox. For science.
I do the same but for my bushcraft knife scales. makes a lot of soft perishable woods, hard and waterproof for outdoor use.
I first saw this technique used by Jacklore Knives. Still want one!
stabilize french toast , then make tiles out of it for a table top
stablilize that 1 pink almost sponge bottle stopper you made when those 2 resins reacted weird and foamed up and try to pull colored resin into the openings and make a 2 colored bottle stopper
Stabilise all the ingredients for your favourite sandwich and then cast the complete sandwich in a block of clear resin. No other reason than because you can.
Aranel91 Yes.
Praise the algorithm for showing this to me, because I want to start doing cactus juice stabilization. Friend gave me an awesome maple burl that is just too ratty to use without.
Stabilizing a loaf and turning a bread knife handle seems like the obvious train of thought. Bring it full circle.
If you layered paper in it, could you make stabilized Micarta?
Micarta _is_ already stabilized paper.
Bread knife with a bread handle, that just smacked my brain in the brainface. You need this, *we* need this.
make a "bread" bowl from a loaf of stabilized sour dough bread
but can it stabilize my relationship?
We're going to need more resin...
Peter Brown: Doctor, we need to STABILIZE the severe burn victim right away.
That would take a lot more suction
Bread knife or bread hammer or red lamp the greatest creation that I think anyone can ever think of 🍞🍞🍞
Could you add some color and make it look cool in the inside? I think you should try that it would be awesome.
A bread knife with a bread handle.
You understand you have to stabilize a full loaf of bread and turn it now.
Or put the loaf back into the bag and see how long it takes the wife to notice.
or make a "bread box" out of the stabilized loaf...loving the play on words here! ;-)
OMG..I was just thinking the same thing...lol
You should make a bread knife handle from stabilized bread
Bread Knife!!!!! Make a handle out of stabilized grilled cheese!
You found a perfect way to scrach vacuum chamber with sharp metal pieces
Hey Peter - read up on the use of a "cold pot" - it goes between the chamber and the pump, and condenses the vapors from the resin so that it doesn't eat your pump. You're essentially making the Cactus Juice boil at room temp - and the gas-off apparently eats seals. Some companies will not guarantee their pump if you don't buy a cold pot as part of your rig......
I can't tell for sure because I don't really know this company or their products - but it looks like they sent you a cold pot as part of the deal.
Happy hardening!
Make a steel disc and drill a few holes in it. Also weld an hook on the top to grab it : that's what an old man did for his woodshop next to my garage
stabilized wasp nests
Might... actually be pretty cool. Someone pls try this!
Just please... remove the wasps first
@@ODeltan nah
Wonder what would happen if you tried to stabilize some marshmallows.
I bet it would just coat them. The marshmallows expand instead of giving off gas to be replaced.
Well, i assume it would melt. It usually melts in liquids, cause it's made out of sugar
Ian Salisbury I don't know man, marshmallows are full of air, videos of them in vac chambers show them expanding and then shrinking afterwards because of the loss of air. Would be an easy and cheap experiment to try out.
TEAMGRUNT. Ooh make a stabilized marshmallow pen blank
I keep thinking of stabilized peeps
Rolling Pin from a loaf of bread!
I love the hammer you use at the end disappearing from the wall at 7:50 great video. It is awesome to see some new tech.
Stabilise a Twinkie and turn it into a handle for something.
Can you stabilize a flower? a rose maybe?
I suspect a problem you're going to run into with things that are still alive is that they're full of water, which could cause various different problems. A freeze dried rose could be cool, though
You don't think they were thinking you'd try to stabilize something crazy like bread when they sent you the vacuum chamber? I mean have they NOT seen your channel before?! It's kind of your calling card to put food in resin.
And we all love you for doing it too!
Try stabilizing cork, perhaps make a corkscrew with a cork handle
That's a really cool idea.
Someone drinks WAY to much wine
I glanced at this comment and for a split second I thought it said "Try stabilizing pork." So there's another idea I guess.
Could you add the fluorescent dye to the stabilizing resin? Take a piece of wood and make it glow in the dark sort of thing?
I love anything that has to do with vacuum chambers so I’m very excited
Oh man. Stabilized bread bracelets!
That's a cool idea! It's probably been a year since we've added to the bizarre bracelet cache.
oh man, even just leave it square, with the crust and all, and just remove the middle. I would very much wear that.
Bread knife made out of bread?
The glossy resin gives everything a shelf stable look.
LOVE EVERY VIDEO YOU POST
Bread Micarta....what about this?
Stabilize the economy.
Dude you win.
Will the economy fit in that chamber?
Gary Cooper Yep, with wiggle room.
😡😡😡
Best comment, everybody else go home
Okay so stabilize a mini loaf of bread unsliced and turn it on the lathe and make... something.
I was thinking a bigger loaf of bread, or many, and make a breadbox
The obvious one is a bread-knife handle made from bread I suppose
Do that to a whole loaf and turn it
I'm upset that we didn't get to see you turn bread!
It would have just been really crumby...
(It's a bread pun for those who don't get it the pun...)
I *might* have turned a slice... i.imgur.com/bOJfiAh.jpg
