Awesome video Zac, you should throw in more tips throughout these videos! Your such a good player I feel your audience could learn a lot from you explaining your thinking more
The entire time watching this video I honestly was paying more attention to the scenery than I was to the golf shots! Considering how good of a player Zac is I believe that says something for the course. The best word I could come up with to describe that course has to be "Majestic!" It's gotta be like playing a round in a beautiful painting! Your handicap has to be plus something, Zac? Please let me know. I thought I played a great round of golf last Sunday and then after I watched this video for the second time I realized I have a very long way to go to be what I consider a "very good" player!!! Haha! I'm jealous you get to play such incredible courses, my friend! "Tee it High, and Let it FLY!!!"
This was a round I will always remember that is for sure! I am not currently keeping a handicap but I would say I am playing to around a +4 currently. Tee it high & let it fly 👊
@@Reffitt2 It's funny right, because there's a gulf between Zac, one of the best TH-cam golfers, and say, regulars on the KF tour, then there's a gulf between them and the regulars on the PGA tour, and then there's another gulf between _those_ guys and the regular winners on tour. The golf pyramid is very tall, and very pointy.
I know this is not the northwest, but I loved playing up in Seattle and Portland areas. The tall trees just make the golf course more challenging and scenic. Thanks for sharing this. I have seen the Redwoods, it is a must see in person. Video only, does it a little justice. Thanks for sharing.
Ha, speaking of early tee times, I had a crappy night at leagues on Tuesday night. Didn't sit well with me. Woke up at 5am and looked for tee times at my fav local course. Got one for 6:50, figuring I'd get there early and spend some time on the practice green and play a Yellow vs White ball practice round to work out some things. Starter told me I could go any time, so I cut the putting short and got on the 1st tee box at 6:30. I was pretty consistent on the front 9 and hit a 39 with my Yellow game ball and had already all but abandoned the White practice 2nd ball. Got through the first 5 on the back 1-over and just went for it on every remaining hole, including back-to-back tough, windy par 5's with notorious lateral hazards. Ended up shooting a 77 -- first time breaking 80! Selfied my card and pic of myself on the 18th to everyone I could think of. Wanted to run into the clubhouse and jump around but kept it in. Felt like a million bucks for the rest of the day. Framed my card already so I can stay inspired. I can do better, it wasn't hard just nervy knowing how many strokes I had left to break it after shooting 80 several times over the years. Hoping this raises/lowers the bar on my game, overall, and I can start to get more downhill on the game. So, earliest tee time I can remember and a round I won't forget! Those 100, 90, 80, etc thresholds are epic!
@@ZacRadford Thank you much for the positivity! 🤙 And for sharing your excellent journey with me and everyone out here, Man. 💪 Gorgeous course, BTW, and great playing!
Northwood is my home course. I Marshall 2 days a week there and I am President of the Men's Club... Great video and great shots. #9 has been called the hardest par 5 in Sonoma Country. Tight is a good word for it and as has been said, I never get tired of playing there. Thanks for coming out to Northwood!
It seems like a small detail, but the "For Birdie" "For Par" etc, titles on the greens add a lot of quality to the already great content. Keep them coming Zac!
That is such an amazing course. The penultimate Northern California beauty shines through. Love how many of the trees the designer saved. Oh, you also shot a great round IMHO!
I know my home state has many amazing courses but this one is truly beautiful, a shotmakers paradise. Awesome vlog Zack, spectacular layout, absolutely stunning. Great nine bro, 2 under with demanding placement, tricky greens and awe inspiring views. Blessings to you as you golf in God's country from Richard in Cosby, east Tennessee. Can't wait to see what is next on the agenda. POSITIVE VIBRATIONS BROTHER! No trees like this in Tennessee my man!! PS. Earliest wake up was 3 am to go play Torrey Pines, first group out with the Dawn Patrol, a bit of fog and dewy fairways made it long for the first few holes but a great time on the North Course!!
This has been definitely on my bucket list ever since seeing it on scratch. Crazy thing is that i live 2 hours away from this course. I’m for sure playing it within the month! Awesome video
I have to say I enjoy these videos the most. I prefer them to the matchplay videos. While the latter ain't bad, Zac can do many more of these. I think it is time for me to invite him over here to South Africa. We have some stunning golf courses. 😊
"It's like an upside down bowl" laughed out loud at that one. Some might even call that a hill :D Absolutely stunning video and a great combo with Eriks vlog that showed more of the community and history of the course. Love seeing you tear those nine holes apart, stunning place.
Zac this is an amazing place and very lovely shot little play with the dog 🐾 I love you chanel and thank for the opportunity your swing is incredible precise
Must say zac this is one of my favorites. That jurassic park 8000+ monster you played a few years back and this one, despite being polar opposites, feel the same. Amazing that they exist and each has its own unique challenges. TH-cam was built to showcase unique courses like this and you absolutely did just that. Great round. Love to see it.
Hey Zac, so happy you were able to play at Northwood. My son and I play here every Monday, and it is equally fun as it is challenging. Love your content, keep working hard and playing great golf!
Reminds me of a 9 hole executive type course in Yosemite National Park that I played several times back in the 80’s-90’s. It’s called the Wawona Hotel Golf Course and as the name implies is adjacent to the historic Wawona Hotel. Not as nice overall as this course but has the same feel.
Some of the holes there are tree line like this course and some are more out in a meadow. The greens and overall course conditions are no where near as nice as this course as the course gets covered in snow every winter. Not sure it is worth your time Zac. You are better off playing Olympic in San Francisco or Pasatiempo in Santa Cruz which another Alister MacKenzie gem. Great to see you out west my friend.
@@danmyers9372 There's another MacKenzie course south of Frisco that would be a Lifetime Get and that is of course is Cypress Point. Only problem is that course is so exclusive and stuffy that even if he got on (with a member), they wouldn't let him film there.
I’ve left at 3:30-4:00a.m for a tournament quite a few times. We have no organized amateur golf tournaments on the Eastern Shore of VA, but Virginia Beach and Tidewater area have a ton, so I make the sacrifice. Love the tour I play on so it’s worth it even if I play like crap 80% of the time lol.
Great to finally see you up here. If you can, check out Half Moon Bay Links, 2 amazing tracks. One (Old Course) and 2 (The Ocean Course). You will not be disappointed!
You are way too good at golf Zac. The way you scrambled for birdie on 9 was unreal. We’ll done 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👊🏼 And Hole 6 was hilarious 😂 I’ve played there before so when I heard you say,” hit the draw,” I was like, this should be interesting 😅😂 2 under first time there is amazing. Like I said, you are way too good. Much love brotha.
I saw that EAL vid a while back. Cool to see this course again. Enjoy! I think the earliest I’ve gotten up for a round is about 04:30. 03:30 is some real dedication, bruh
I played Northwood last year. great experience. i never spent sooo much time on a golf course just looking up. it's not just "tree lined".... these are trees on steroids. just insane how big they are. fun course, because it's so old some of the tee boxes can be close to the previous green, so keep your head on a swivel.
Hole 6 I was definitely wondering where you were going. I've gone between the trees on the right as there is an 8-10' gap with a straight line to the green. I have taken that route multiple times.
Absolutely phenomenal course, I’m adding it to my bucket list. Great golf as well! I’d love to see you make it out to Minnesota and play courses around here.
Give a huge thumbs up to the groundskeepers. It must be incredibly hard to maintain such a great course between such huge amount of giant trees.
You are absolutely right about that they do a fantastic job!
