Great advice, but I will say, I do not follow any of this. I abuse the hell out of my poles. Not because I think you’re wrong, but because I just don’t pay attention. That being said, I’ve never had an issue, which is an attribute to how awesome their products are! Maybe on my next set I’ll follow these tips and see how it works!
Using a power pole simultaneously with a trolling motor is awesome. Because the wind or current will swing the bow down stream, I use the trolling motor to gently keep the bow where I want it, and the pole to stick the stern. I tend to use less trolling motor battery, while being able to position the boat to offer all anglers on board good casting lanes.
Just bought my boat with two 8’ power poles in Oct 2021 and this is my first set. My boat is small at 18’-6” but im almost 400lbs, i usually fish in the back and let my friend control the front. On hard or rocky bottom’s those two poles will lift me and the boat up, i was surprised with the strength of these and with my size and weight in the back with full tank of gas and live well, batteries etc i hope these last a few years or really the life of the boat because this will be my last one.
I seriously came here to figure out what those things were I see on bass boats; my assumption was completely off apparently because I thought they were like outriggers for trolling on bass boats 😂
If he has a front mount trolling motor and is using it for fishing he can deny one pole and use the trolling motor to keep the nose where it needs to be on a low speed. If you are using them for docking and beaching more then fishing 2 is best
Two are better to prevent boat oscillating and avoid running your trolling motor the entire time your anchored up. Arguably, if using spot lock on trolling motor to hold position, no real need to buy a power-pole. Eliminating noise of TM being on is helpful in shallow water applications.
What is your thoughts on putting 2 on a 22ft deep v that I talk out to siesta key Florida and go out on the sand bars. Would it be worth the money using it too anchor off with if I had 2? Thanks for the info
Does one power pole really work good? I mean in some lake conditions I could see severe movements taking place with only one. I’m not that knowledgeable about them. I do see some big bass boats with only one. I currently have my boat ( bay boat 19’ ) in the shop having two sportsman 2 installed. I don’t know but I thought two would hold it still. Again new to this, but look forward to using them
If you have the money, absolutely. With 2 you can get away with a lot more because they are only working half as hard. Also, having 2 keeps your boat from spinning in changing winds
Have any of you guys that own power poles ever have to add hydraulic oil to the reservoirs? My dealer told me i should never have to mess with the hydraulic oil in the reservoirs.

Hollywood! Good stuff

So ............ should I install one or two of these power poles? Thx
Do you need 2 power poles or is that a waste? My husband has a Nitro z9 and wants to get power poles.
It's better because the wind wont swing your boat around

Yes! If you're going to spend the money, get two or don't buy any IMO.

Great question! Make sure to ask this over in the Community (www.saltstrong.com/) where the coaches spend their time.
One power pole in the back. Lower speed front bow mount trolling motor up front
Waller = Wallow, thanks for the great advice, you're right on the money 💰
You bet!
💎 XEN 💎
Cool , never saw one of these.
Program button not lighting up. Any clue as to why not just replaced battery
That's one expensive anchor
Great tips thanks for sharing your knowledge 👍
Is having 2 power poles better ?
If you have the money, absolutely. With 2 you can get away with a lot more because they are only working half as hard. Also, having 2 keeps your boat from spinning in changing winds
Man, I really need to make the drive down to Islamorada with my kayak.
I’ve drove with my poles down and done all types of stuff and never had a problem
Yet..
Either with those or talons would it be best to use two of them so if you’re on a strong current it wouldn’t turn the boat around?
Get dual it will hold positions down without turning around. If you get single unit then your boat probably spin around.
Have any of you guys that own power poles ever have to add hydraulic oil to the reservoirs? My dealer told me i should never have to mess with the hydraulic oil in the reservoirs.
Buy talons instead
Noticed you only have one power pole on your boat. How do you keep your boat from ocilating back in forth in strong winds with just one power pole?
Front bow mount trolling motor
My spike snapped, where can I find a new one?
Might need to contact the manufacturer
Can’t get power pole to work. Seems not to be programmed some home. Just replaced battery anyone know what can be wrong?
The board. Under warranty, take it in. Lifetime warranty
Great tips Capt Mark! Thanks!
yo i would just say "POWERPOLE EXTEND!!!!!!!!!"
So the wind is blowing into the stern?
Yes. If it blows towards the bow it'll swing the boat around
thanks for this , exactly the info i was looking for
This is why i run talons.Never had problems.
Talons are ugly, big, and have buddies that have had nothing but problems
I abuse my Power Poles and I have never had any problems. I have never broken anything. I have taken off with them down and didn't wreck them.
Double click the down button and start fishing.
