Wiz: Neptune from Hyperdimension Neptunia. Boomstick: And Laharl from Disgaea. Wiz: Most heroes do selfless acts because it's the right thing to do, while others simply do it just for fame & attention. Boomstick: And then we got these 2 fighters who use their "Main Protagonist" titles to do a bit of both... Well, mostly for the latter. He's Wiz & I'm Boomstick. Wiz: And it's our job to analyze their weapons, armor & skills to find out who will win a Death Battle!
The Goddess of Planeptune vs The Overlord of The Netherworld. Despite the titles I imagine this fight would be quite humorous at times considering both characters and their respective series.
Now that's a cool song. Was a bit worried it'd be one of those songs I don't care too much about upon seeing the matchup (I barely know anything about Hyperdimension Neptunia and straight up don't know what Disgaea is) but after listening to it I'll say I was absolutely pleasantly surprised. It's a catchy song with memorable melodies and a ton of variety that results in all of those cool segments not to feel overused. And you have no idea how happy I was to realize that song's quality as soon as it started with that guitar riff. Generally with tracks that I like it's either me liking it more and more as it progresses or instantly upon it starting with the first few notes getting the message across and this one definitely is a case of the latter. Now as said above I barely know anything about both franchises combined so I can't really talk about how well it fits the characters but from the vibe it gives out I'd say it seems to be fitting. It's an heroic, high energy track mixing "classic" rock with a whole lot of electronic which is only bettered by the presence of Infotron on the track who's proved time and time again to be more than capable with electronic music (side note to recommend you guys to check out Infotron's personal channel, they've got a ton of original tracks and commissions of their own that some might appreciate). Now I don't know exactly what Infotron's involvment on this song was but it matters little when the end product as a whole is more than good enough. Going back a bit now, I did mention that this track does a really good job at varrying all its segments in a way that makes none of them sound overused and of course there's a few segments in the lot that stand out to me in particular that I feel notable. The first one is less a segment in particular and more so just a notable motif heard throughout the track and that'd be the guitar riff I mentioned earlier that's heard from the very beginning. It's quite the simple thing but it actually plays in its favor in my opinion because its simplicity and catchiness help it add to the other segments while also sounding good on its own and the fact that it's used throughout a large portion of the track but often in different places and uses makes it not feel overused as said before. The second segment that I want to note would be the entire 2:14-2:53 chunk of the song. While the rest of the song does a wonderful job at mixing rock and electronic I think this one does it the best while also adding a side of epic and scale to the track; it adds to the song's variety while still feeling inline with the rest and it doesn't overstay its welcome which allows it to sound unique and appreciable, doubly so since it's not heard again in the song which makes it unique and encourages you to listen to the song again to get to hear it another time. Not to mention that it's also got a really cool followup with the guitar solo that comes quite shortly after it to lead into the ending which makes the entire sequence from 2:14 to the end of the song feel more and more impactful as it goes (especially since the solo is also pretty damn good). And speaking of ending I cannot not mention everything from 3:35 and onwards. Of course it sounds good and you originally think it's gonna "just" be a cool finish to the track with an energetic melody that already befits the track's ending but it actually doubles down at 3:55 with a much grander scale that sounds even better and, while still heroic and upbeat, feels more serious and epic, something perfectly fitting an ending to a fight that no doubt would span quite the grand scale. It's a great conclusion to a great song. Overall this track makes me quite happy, the last Brand Yates track that I heavily enjoyed while having no gripe about or without simply caring little about it was Naughty Or Nice which may seem recent but as someone that's used to liking almost all of Brandon's work felt like there was something wrong with me for me not to appreciate so many songs in a row. And this track is a nice breath of fresh air to me due to how good it is in my opinion. Sure I don't know anything about the characters or franchises but sometimes you don't need to have some deep and meaningful understanding of the characters of the song, sometimes just having a really cool song to listen to is more than enough to be satisfying and that it absolutely is. Amazing job with this for sure to both artists.
I absolutely adore this matchup. The trade of abilities, the cosmic scale, and most importantly, the banter. This matchup is a fourth wall breaking comedic goldmine.

Genesis refers to the verse in the Bible, specifically about the creation of the universe (as far as I recall). While neither of these characters are creator deities, one is often seen surrounded by demons and the other is a lazy goddess who constantly travels through dimensions and universes in her games. While it's not 100% fitting for them on a thematic level, Neptune, the lazy goddess, is a personification of an unreleased sega console and Laharl's games, afaik, are most commonly published by Sega.
