- What's happening good people, its about time this one hit the review bench and well here is my take. We all know by now this is Paganis third attempt at this watch, but is this time a winner or do they need yet another go?

80 to 90ish for a solid, well put together piece, or ocer 200 for something that feels like a Happy Meal toy? Hmmmmmm... 🤔😏

Wearing mine as I watch this. I never pulled the trigger on a Pagani until this one. They never just did it for me and there was always a higher quality alternative for a little bit more. I'm glad I bought this one, though. It's well done, and very comfortable.

I’ve had mine for a while, and while I do have a slimmer wrist I didn’t have the sizing issue at all! I agree about the bracelet refinement needing to be improved but mine doesn’t cut or irritate my wrist at all so maybe I got lucky! Great honest review though!

great review I managed to size the watch but you are correct more links are needed it's a great movement I find, and better quality for a change lume is terrible as usual

On one macro it appeared that the end link was sticking up a little and raise above the lug of was that just me? Couldn’t agree more about a little ar coating would be great on this watch. And of course the lume could always be better on these. It’s a sharp looking watch and the vk63 movement is a real plus on this. Ugh, lume doesn’t even make it 5 min, so bad lol but expected. Great review as always m8
Thanks mate and I've just checked and seems okay, could have just been the weird angle I shot it at. I think the VK is probably the thing that will last the longest.
I have a V2 and the issues for me are the crystal is very reflective whilst the hands and markings are not plain white but have silvered edges which together makes the dial unreadable in many situations.
By contrast I have a Bulova Moonwatch where they are white and they really are extremely legible.
Yeah I skipped the V2 because of the legibility issues, this one is much better on that front, but does cut corners elsewhere. I'd love a lunar pilot, but way too big sadly. Thanks

I bought a V3 ( still wait delivery) and the seller on Aliexpress told me me the watch does have ARcoating?? So I dont understand some sites say AR and some mention No ARcoating??
So there are not enough links to size down to a 6.5 inch wrist?
In the Amazon listing for the V3, on the "questions" part, they indicate that this model is also available without a date window. The link they give for this just takes you back to the date model. Do you know anything about this? The Moonwatch did Not have a date window and the homage should not have one either.
I don't to be fair, I got mine from Aliexpress and as far as I'm aware there is only the date version. Thanks
@@WesWatchRoom I think you're right and Amazon got it wrong. Certainly Pagani would never miss a chance to graft a date window on anything they can, including their Daytonas. I'm just amazed they rightly left this feature off on their Paul Newman Daytona, I'll bet there was a big fight about this pro and con. Lol
I bought the pd 1701 v3, and it came with the sharp edges, which don't bother me much, but the tachymetre hand isn't perfectly aligned ,and my bottom pusher gets stuck. Should I send it back?

So summary is this worth it for the price or wait and hope that someone like San Martin, Cronos, Steeldive etc. Come out with a slightly better version?

You're missing the crazy value proposition here. For these specs, and with this watch scratching the Speedmaster itch so well, at least for me, I find complaints about the lume a bit nitpicky.
Probably not, but they're not in a rush to fix it.
@@guyo68 I see where you're coming from, but at the same time, the addies diver is £30 cheaper and the lume destroys this. So it can be done
@@WesWatchRoom AddiesDive does indeed have crazy lume (I'm loving mine, too). Having said that, I'm not aware of them offering a good Speedmaster homage, if any, and I remain grateful to Pagani for letting me enjoy the largest selection of beloved watch designs at "good enough" quality, and at largely unbeatable bang for the buck. I have zero expectations from them in terms of lume, so even the PD-1701 v3 satisfies me in that regard (I've experienced no patchiness in the marker lume on mine, and the lume generally lasts well until I doze off. Good enough in my book!
@@guyo68 that's true, Pagani are one of the few offering an affordable one so I suppose we should perhaps cut them some slack.
Best watch in their line. Just buy your self a Barton blue white stitching sail cloth band and it even looks better! Or in summer a white silicone band

Not a bad looking watch. I think the plus points outweigh the niggles to be fair. Case finish is just ok and looks over engineered so it’s too rounded on the edges. That’s from someone who owns a speedie, so I am biased to be fair. Same old issue with the clasp though

I think this is a case of close(er), but no cigar.
That said, if you can buy it on sale, and swap out the bracelet, there is a decent watch for the money here.
Paganis problem is that there are a lot of better meca quartz watches for sale - many of them by Pagani!

This watch for whatever reason looks better on TH-cam than in real life. The lack of AR coating on the crystal makes it so reflective in real life.

I took 400 grit sandpaper to all of the edges of the bracelet. It’s still not great but it is at least tolerable now.
Excellent review mate, its disappointing to see Pagani fixed with a bellow average bracelet for an otherwise well executed watch!

Because they aren't trying to sell you an Omega, because it doesn't have their name on the watch, then it's not fake. Its a bit of a grey area.
2:06 "Kinda pointless 24 hour". Let me teach you what its point is. It lets you know when you are in am or pm for setting the date complication. It also tells you the military time. You should know better!
Of course it's 316 it's cheap and plentyful and mine has 10 removable links more than enough it's not their fault you have tiny wrists it fits my 8.5inch wrist perfectly. It's also double dome as well and mine has AR. Thanks
