      Thanks Katelyn! We are so lucky that its not really that far for us to make a trip to the high country! The moment you get above the tree line on Bogong was so cool! 😄

    That's probably as close as I will ever get to seeing the top, the campground you started from is much more my speed these days, Ha Ha Ha. Love your work, thanks for the video.

      Haha yeah the campground was in a good spot! Makes it more enjoyable to break up what would of been an exhausting day hike! Thanks for watching, glad I could show you the top haha :)

    I need to take you on my hikes, you really capture everything so clearly!!

    Well done on conquering the Bogong summit! I did this in Feb and it is one tough hike. Doing it in 36C heat must have been brutal. We ascended via the Staircase and the plan had been to camp out at Cleve Cole Hut after doing the summit but my hiking buddy wasn't able to summit due to exhaustion so I summited on my own and we camped back down at Bivouac Hut campsite instead. Those views once you get up above the tree line are breathtaking. Would love to do it again someday as part of another hike in the high country. Great vid of your trip!

    • @settohike
      @settohike  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! Can tick it off the summit list now hehe. Yeah we actually met two people along the way that had come from Cleve Cole hut and they told us to go there because it was nice. We stuck to our original plan but funny you mention it as well! Its a shame your buddy didnt make it all the way to the top but hopefully he enjoyed some of that above the tree line view too!!

    Awesome video Hayley! Don't know if I could do that hike in 36deg temps though, I'd melt into the rocks!! 🥵 But with those views, it'd be worth it. Love the rolling mountains disappearing into the distance... beautiful. I see Matt enjoyed his DIY sanga over the Subway offering he had a while back! 🤣 Another wonderful video production with a great soundtrack as well. Thanks Hayley! 😊

      Hahah luckily it got cooler as we went higher, although I must admit I much prefer the hot than the cold! 🌞Oo yes I am so glad we had a clear view once we got above the tree line! hahah that DIY sanga was gone so fast! Thanks again for all your wonderful comments 😀

    Looks way tougher than when I did it in Spring Snows of '82. Up & down staircase, 1/2hr sleep due high winds all night. Lol I recall eating rice bubbles for breakfast looking down on Mt Beauty. Kewl.

    • @settohike
      @settohike  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Summer made the trail very easy to navigate, and despite being quite hot down below it was good for the summit! But yes, I was very drained by the end of it! I dont remember the uphill very much but I remember the painful downhill! Thanks again Iain 😊

      @settohike  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah there was only 2 other people that came up as we were having a snack on the top! A lot different to the summit of Mt Kosciuszko! Haha my knees are aching watching the footage back! Thanks Ben! 😄

      @@settohike You have not climbed Mt. Kosci . until you have smashed out Hannel's spur from Geehi flats to Mt. Kosci. .It is a 1800 M. vertical elevation gain. It is a right mission!

    Trekking up the Eskdale spur in deep snow is even tougher!. Snow shoes , crampons or skis with skins don't make it any easier or less of a slog.At least in winter it is not so hot.. The other main routes up Mt. Bogong such as The T Spur, Quartz Ridge, Long Spur , Granite Flat Spur etc. are all must do hikes!.Join the Bogong Club .See the website.I walked up the recut Eskdale spur track from the 4 x 4 car park at Camp Creek Gap in Feb. 2021. The dreaded erosion channel known as THE DRAIN has been by passed. In winter that was hideous!.
