    What do you think of the X100T's video quality? Would you rather shoot on iPhone, GoPro or something else?

    • @Gupes
      @Gupes 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I traded mine in for a Lumix GX8. I was able to trade my X100T for a very good condition example plus $160 in cash. Which I'll use to pick up a few lens on the used market.
      I do think moving away from interchangeable lens for a few years helped me develop a better eye for framing, shot selection and better at hunting for shots in general.
      I loved my time with the X100T - but I will be embracing the beautiful in body and in lens image stab+4k footage and interesting mix of lens that open up.

      @@Gupes Sounds like a great journey. Similar for me too in terms of learning and improving with a fixed lens. It’s a great point! Enjoy the Lumix! Sounds like a smart move for you. 🙌

    Looks like a great camera! Since last time I dropped by and chatted about the X2, I've added a TL2 to the collection (I know, I know...can never have too many cameras). Might have to add one of these x100t eventually! One other camera I was playin around with for a few days as the Lumix GF9 w/ 25mm 1.7. It's a cheaply priced camera these days, but the quality was absolutely stunning. Thanks for the great video, fantastic quality content as always

    • @garethbartlett
      @garethbartlett  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes it's definitely my favourite camera right now. So glad you've dropped by again! Great to hear from you. What do you think of the TL2? If I could afford a X100V right now I'd love to shoot more video on that. Intrigued by the GF9 - I don't know much about Lumix at all and their model numbers confuse me a bit! But will look into it more now. Thanks for bringing this to the table, and for the kind words!

      @@garethbartlett currently a Sony A7c. I love it but looking at a second camera because you can never have too many cameras right and this one seems different enough to almost justify. Or at least that’s what I’m telling myself

    • @garethbartlett
      @garethbartlett  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Shetlandin360 ah sweet. Whenever I have to use multiple cameras I’m always trying to at least use the same brand just because I find color matching them easier in the edit. But it’s easier than ever these days - like in this vid I had so many different types and it’s not the end of the world. The thing about the Fuji though is I find it so inspiring that I couldn’t care!

    I just recently picked up a used x100t and it's in amazing condition other than a small crack in the LCD screen that doesn't seem to affect anything. I'm actually learning to love the versatility of the little camera and it's fun to learn about another platform as I usually shoot with my A7riii. But I have been wanting a point and shoot range finder style digital camera for some time. These shots are amazing, what are you using for recipes or editing styles?

    • @garethbartlett
      @garethbartlett  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ah awesome! Congrats!
      When I first started using my Fuji it took a while to get used to it. I was so used to my canon and the dynamic range on that (especially for landscapes) that I almost wasn’t sure it was right for me. But once I learned to embrace how the Fuji shoots and stop worrying about protecting highlights it just clicked.
      For edits, I tend to dive into Lightroom and mostly use Classic Chrome as a starting point. Then it’s usually sole desaturation, a bit of an S curve, lose a bit of green etc. hope that helps!

    Great video Gareth! I'm thinking of getting this one cause I need something lighter and smaller to carry around. I just have one question: have you tried long exposures with this camera? I ask because I also like to shoot the ocean, waves, the sky, something more artistic etc, and I'm trying to see if it performs well for this conditions too. Appreciate if you can help me!

    • @garethbartlett
      @garethbartlett  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Janaine, thanks for watching! The X1 is perfect as a light and small carry around. I could literally put it in my coat pocket. But I didn’t try long exposures with it. I love to do coastal long exposures but I never thought to try it with the X1 which may tell you all you need to know. It felt much more a street camera to me but that could be me bringing my own thoughts to the camera unfairly. However, I have since part exchanged the X1 for a Fuji X100T because the X1 was a bit slow to use - both for focus and even playback of images. Just small delays here and there. Here if you have any other questions!

      @garethbartlett  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! That’s kind words.
      I change my process quite a lot but those photos would have been edited in Lightroom. Nothing too crazy and totally achievable by anyone. The images straight out of camera are great - maybe I’ll do a video about that soon - I was just going for a specific look at the time. The X100T for photography (depending on your style) is a great camera and I’m not convinced getting a newer version of it would make better images.

    The iPhone footage has bad blurring at the edges, kind of misty looking which is distracting. Fuji are great if all you want is the Fuji look I've found. It's a good look though! I find limiting yourself to just 35mm lens view is really a spur to creativity (to go wide you can use the panoramic mode) you have to use your legs to zoom. I use a Sony RX100iv for travel, it's so small you can take it anywhere and the output is great in both stills and video. However, it lacks the involvement of the Fuji. I used to use the original Sony A7 too with 35mm f2.8 Samyang pancake lens, again a small package, I actually regret selling it.

    • @garethbartlett
      @garethbartlett  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey! Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. It's been a while since I edited this video but I think you're spot on about the iPhone blurring - that may have been me messing around with it to try and make it less "digital". Clearly over-cooked it!
      And yeah the Fuji definitely has its own vibe going on which won't be to everyone's tastes or needs, sometimes. I absolutely still need my Canon clinical tones for certain work.
      Really intrigued by the RX100 - I've checked them out a few times and trying to convince my partner to get one as a vlogging camera so I can check it out! 😂
      Love that compact package of A7 and pancake. I just got a 16mm RF lens for my Canon RP and it's such a great, compact camera for travel and vlogging!
      Great to chat!

    • @garethbartlett
      @garethbartlett  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think it depends what you want to shoot - if you want video, then yes. If it’s your main camera and you can comfortably afford it, then there’s no doubt it’s a “better” camera with lots of little improvements. But I’m a big fan of the phrase that better cameras don’t take better photos. Hope that in some way helps!

  • @mynameisshari1505
    @mynameisshari1505 ปีที่แล้ว

    I really enjoyed your video! How did you achieve the dreamy look when talking to the camera? As in the slightly blurry vignette around you. Is that something you did in camera or in post?

    • @garethbartlett
      @garethbartlett  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you so much. It depends on what shot as I used quite a few different cameras but my guess is it would be the Fuji X100T which had a Black Pro Mist filter on which softens the overall look and blooms the highlights in camera. I also did a few bits in post to soften some of the shots because things like stuff shot on iPhone was overly sharp. Thanks again for your comment and the question!
