Was recently diagnosed with non-hodgkins lymphoma, I watch your videos and Roadkill during chemo, helps the time go by so much better. Always entertaining, never boring! Thanks for the welcome distractions! I have been reading responses and some people think I am 'faking it' to win the tools. The port in my chest and the chemo are not fake. I fully never expected to win the tools, I just made this post to let Mike know how his videos help me get through chemo. Nothing more, nothing less. I appreciate all the support from everyone and for the people who think it is fake..try going through this and see how fake it really is 😐
Contest is over. i'm now reviewing the comments and choosing the winner. Winners names will be announced during next Sunday's video. By the way, if anyone here says you've won or asks you to text/call a number or send money please ignore them because its a scam.
The scammers are targeting comments, you might want to put out a statement and delete them. I reported them but considering how old this scam is I have little hope they'll do anything
You may be frustrated with your broken leg right now, but enjoy your down time at home with your family. I know it’s cliche, but everyone says you’ll miss having a noisy messy house full of kids. At least your injury happened while having a blast and making memories with your son. Prayers for a quick recovery. You’ll be rested and ready to tackle your next projects. Good luck!
You crack me up. A few months unable to drive a manual and you consider selling cars😂. Your impatience and strong A.D.D makes me think we are related. Now’s the time to tackle all the tedious projects that get sidestepped because you’re usually going 15 different ways. Wiring panels at your bench, tedious welding, ect. The “downtime” will fly by and in the end you will realize you took advantage of the time for the better.
@@jamesmeredith381 depends on how long ago you were diagnosed. ADD used to be the same diagnosis of what is ADHD…. I guess I just provided backing to my “ADD” and aged myself at the same time :) 🤘
Love the Datsun 510's, When I broke my leg 17 years ago, I also was laid up on a couch. My wife went garage selling with the kids and brought home two kittens to keep me company. DON'T let your wife go garage selling.:) All kidding aside, the kittens did help keep me busy. Pulling the entire wire harness out to repair it has inspired me to look into doing the same thing with my 1986 F-250. Please keep doing this show.
I was one of the winners of an autographed FSM hat!! Thanks Mike ! I never win anything so this is wicked awsome !!!! ROADKILL is totally awsome don’t stop making it !!!!
My daughter and I watch all you're videos and roadkill. It really helped her through her cancer treatment and me mentally dealing with her pain and discomfort. Since she has been given a clean bill of health and she wanted to build an offroad xj rat rod style , so ofcourse I said he'll yes lol. We found an 85 AMC cherokee 2 door 5 speed and she is learning how to wire, weld, and I just pulled a junkyard ls for it. So she has been stripping it in preparation for a rebuild. I just want to say thank you for everything you do for so many people out there ❤️
Man understand the want to drive a manual. After a dirt bike accident I had 13 surgeries on my left leg, only thing that really kept me from agreeing to amputate it was the want to drive my manual cars. My kids would be at school and I would hobble out to the garage after pt, just practice working the clutch.
You, David, roadkill, Tony, lucky and the whole motor trend crew motivated me to quit my job building hotrods to start my own shop building whatever we want. I take possession of the building April 1 and RCS autowürx will be up and running all thanks to all you guys pushing the best automotive content on the planet and inspiring me to push myself beyond my comfort zone and being my own boss. Keep it up. You're literally the best.
Just as yourself, Im living with a boot on my left foot for the last six months post surgery (foot ran over by a car!). Unfortunately my garage projects have been limited so I aslo decided to tackle a wiring project (50 Merc). Love the show. Quick recovery!
My golder receivers, yes I said recievers instead of retreivers, and I went out for a pass. I jumper higher than both dogs caught the pass and started to run for the endzone WHEN my dog named Brick tackled me by striking my left ankle and shattered it in 16 places. While lying on the ground after I fumbled, my other reciever Maggie, picked up the fumble and both dogs ran on to score. For the next year my Harley, my Challenger R/T, my boat all were undrivable. Thank god I had an automatic in my jeep cherokee othwise I would have been stranded. Brick and Maggie have since passed but the 12 screws and 8 inch metal plate remind me of the love we shared chasing balls. To this day too much activity means fun with pain medication. I feel you brother with every step. Never met you but we are brothers in injury. Hang in and dont sell everything!
Mike I watch all you shows and enjoy every one of them. Keep your head up Back in 2021 I was at a show and a girl was trying to back up a 69 Camaro and had it inn1st gear instead of reverse and ran over my right leg broke my femur and crushed my knee. I spent 2 months in hospital in traction and 6 months on crutches. At the time of the accident my grandson and I were building his 55 f100 truck. Him and I rebuilt the engine and I was teaching him to weld and do body work on crutches. There were quite a few challenges along the way not being able to get down and then back up. But I just told myself that it’s all going to get better in the long run. We finished his first truck in February of 23 and he is very proud of it , there wasn’t a bolt that he didn’t touch in the total build. Keep up the great work and shows. Dean
Watching your show gives me inspiration to work on my 55 Chevy project. Blasphemy Rules!!! Remember if you keep your timber limber you will be a hard man to beat!!
One of the best stories my dad has told me probably 100 times every time he looks at a trophy in the garage. Is that he used to slalom race 510. We went to a car show 2 years ago and there was one at the show and he got a little emotional just seeing it. I sent him your last video of it and he just said he wish he never got rid of his. He also said it was that same color!
Mike,This is real world automotive wiring like we do it in our own garage. Thanks for showing us that, even though the haters will have their head explode from seeing you use the connectors that work but are not "Professional" .Get well soon.
@@FinnegansGarage Mike you can Google Female Locking Spade Connector and will find what you need to repair the older connector blocks. All older imports and GM until the pin connectors use them. I was a Chevrolet line mechanic in the 70’s and replaced several of them.
Awesome videos. Just started to rewire a boat that has been sitting for a few years. All of the wires are corroded or not spliced/connected correctly. New tools are in my Amazon cart, going to wait to pull the trigger till after you announce the winner. Great work Hop a Long, can’t wait for the next video.
What I love about this channel is it's fun AND educational. I'd say most backyard mechanics and home garage fabricators can't afford ideal and professional. We'll watch you guys and get'er done. Hang in there Mike, the boot will be off before you know it.
I feel your pain mike! Several months ago I destroyed my lower back and have spent months trying to heal up! Now I'm doing spinal decompression at disc centers of America. After 5 treatments I can walk with a cane. Today I made it 736 steps before my legs gave out on me. I'm still looking at 12 plus weeks of treatment and I'm praying I can recover most of my mobility. Right now working on anything is out of the picture. At least I can watch you guys work on stuff!
Started 5 projects that haven't run in years today, got a transmission back from a relative, and conned my Mom into driving it 200 miles home for me. Roadkill lives on in the fans. Thanks for all you do.
Sunday morning ritual, wake up, pour coffee.... watch Mike Finnegan and Joe! Man I love this channel! Stay safe Mike and Im gald the leg is doing somewhat better!
I like using the cloth wire harness tape to wrap around the wire rather than electrical tape. It makes the harness less stiff than electrical tape. That wire loom tool is awesome, I'm going to have to get one of those. Love the channel, hope your leg heals quickly.
Can Joe do a series of educational videos on how to troubleshoot electrical issues with the power probe? I want to learn how to be better chasing down electrical gremlins. Any recommended books?
I was gonna ask what kind of wizardry Mike is employing to tear electrical tape as cleanly as duct tape? I even looked closely at his thumb nails to see if he'd perhaps sharpened them, lol. Thank you for clearing that up afore I even had to make the inquiry. Love all the work Mike, and Joe is an awesome and welcome addition to the team!!! My wife suffered through that exactly malady on first her left leg in early Feb of 23, then decided to outdo herself and shattered her right ankle in late March of 23. I had to quit work to take her and our kids everywhere, as driving anything was out of the question. Watching her struggle up and down even just a few stairs on crutches was painful, and I completely empathize with the struggle.
twenty years ago i broke my right leg, tib and fib about two inches above the ankle. yes i had surgery, two plates and 17 screws later i knew when rain was coming. i am glad you did not need surgery, and follow what the doc says. i wish you a speedy recovery.
Hey mike, just wanted to say thank you for all you do. I actually got the pleasure of meeting you with my fiancé at LS Fest in bowling green and I was all kinds of star struck and fan girling. I recently watched your boat racing video “ broke the 632 and still went racing” got all the way to you crying getting your trophy’s, expressing to the legendary boat racers that you admire and look up to them. So I sat there thinking and said damn I hope one day I get to experience to him that Mike is the same way for me. I can’t tell you how many time watching your videos has made me tear into my car and just started playing with it. Or the classic watching TH-cam at 1am seeing something and going holy hell I’m trying that. So I just wanted to stop by and say that how you feel about all those legendary boat racers in your video, is exactly how I look up to and appreciate you in racing and just going out with your buddies and having fun. Thank you for being you and thank you for inspiring an entire generation of people like me. I’m 23 as of writing this did my first LS swap 2 years ago and am working on a car for drag week as of right now. Thank you for all you do Mike your the inspiration me and a ton of others needed!
Hey Mike I’m john I met you a longtime ago at a mini truck show in north Mississippi I got out of mini trucks and started drag racing now I have a 2003 s10 blazer going to build a new mini truck I love that datson keep building I would love to see more of your toyota
Had to sell my 4x4x7 powdercoating oven and sand blast cabinet when work slowed down and I got scammed out of $4200. I enjoyed it but I’ll get it back someday. You inspire me to keep grinding even when life gives you lemons. Or a broken leg in your case lol keep grinding!
Sorry to hear about your injury. Welcome to the wonderful world of Datsuns. While they are mostly reliable, you do run into some learning experiences that can result in fond memories. My experience with Datsuns started about 15 years ago. I bought my first Datsun 510 and I still have it. As a matter of fact I own three first gen Datsun 510s. May you have many wonderful experiences and less wiring issues in the future with your Datsun.
When I met my wife back in 1986 she had a 1979 B210 and I loved that car. I remember one year we drove it to go skiing at Sugar Mountain from Orlando and had no problems. I later swapped a five speed, put on a webber and a header. It was so fun to drive. I wish we never got rid of it. Love watching all you adventures.
When I was a kid (around 10, I'm 62now). My uncle Jim had one that looked just like that, and one winter he slid it into a ditch.. well, my uncle was raised on a farm in Nebraska.. at 6&1/2' tall and built like a linebacker.. he got out of the car, picked it up and put it back on the road. It's been one of my favorite cars ever since (but never had one).
No stick shifts ? You will be fine . You have a two speed powerglide under your armpits! April 10th my first child will be born ( at age 50! ) My dad was a shade tree mechanic and I learned well from him , my goal is to ensure my daughter at least has some knowledge about how to repair and diagnose noises and smells, and knows about the older cooler cars. Love all ya do!
Hi Mike, my nephew just bought a Datsun 510 himself and is already starting to do some work on it, engine is already shipped out to get refreshed and he wants to start on the rest. He is starting mechanic school in a bit and already got himself a job where they will help him learn restoration on classics. His first car was a Lada he got shipped from the other end of the EU and enjoys driving that in the meantime. Love the show and wished I was better with my hands myself.
What a fun car! My dad and I flipped a bunch of Datsuns one year, we used all the best parts of a few 610 trucks and 510s to put together a rippin little SCSB truck with the L20 and a 5spd!! I’m working on cars myself now and NEED a wiring kit! Best of luck to everyone 👍
I just got finished doing some rewiring for a friend in Oklahoma last week, I drove up from Houston to help he finish up his 66 Olds f85, I helped him with various jobs on the car but watching this episode reminded me of the issue he had with his rear brake lights not working and the turn signal would only work for the left and it would then light up both indicators on the dash, turns out the clocking switch was loose and some of the contacts were bent, fixed that issue and he's back in business, fixing electrical issues on old cars is like winning small lotteries.
It's awesome to see it go back to basics and still have a blast! Heal up gimpy! Sure would love to have the right tools to tackle electrical stuff. Slowly learning but always glad to learn new tips and tricks from you! P.S. don't get rid of any manual cars!!! Just have someone drive you around! 🙃
When using this style of loom, a hot knife is gold, and I know you need a reason to buy a new tool. I use the knife to cut slits in loom at forks so the loom still closes all the way around the wire on either side of the fork.
My twin brother and I grew up driving and learning on an 80 Datsun 510. It was an indestructible vehicle and had a Hemi looking engine in it. We both still talk about that little car and how much fun and reliable it was. I'm excited for you on this new car you've got... it's a really good looking car and is going to be so sweeeet once it's completed. Love the channel.
Your channel keeps me wanting to work on my project truck and wanting to learn how to do everything myself (to my best ability). Your videos have helped me thru problem I’ve had with my project and give me a new perspective on how to work on it. I appreciate what you do and keep it going. Wiring is one of my favorite things to work on. Just have to keep learning.
Family is important! Your wife and kids are the most important things in this world. The fact that they like and tolerate your mechanical endeavors is priceless.Stay Blessed, Mike!
Winner winner chicken dinner! You should send me the wire care giveaway. Have you ever posted to New Zealand before. If not, this could be your first! Postage might cost more than the product! Been watching since roadkill days, great channel mate!
I broke the same bone on my right ankle, 4 weeks in a hard cast, 3, weeks in a boot. A friend borrowed Me a 4 wheeled knee cart, that made getting around WAY easier. Take care!
Years ago I bought a Painless harness 18 circuit GM column switch kit and I’m going to use it on my El Camino. I knew about Wire Care’s wire cover and now I know about the tool that installed it. Also I’m glad to know about the different heat shrink sleeves. Thanks for the demonstration.
Time to go automatic old man! lol. And I'm right there with you. My favorite vehicle I've owned for many years is a 2001 Regular cab Stepside F-150 with a body kit to look just like an SVT - Lightening, and it's a 5-speed manual, and a few weeks ago I was driving it and hit some heavy traffic and It did cross my mind how it being a manual was getting to me, and swapping it to an automatic was my first thought, and my second thought was that a supercharged Coyote with a 10-speed would be sweet! lol.
You have renewed my motivation to start the rewiring of my 83' square body pick up. I have put if off due to the pain staking of the putting the plastic wire loom on. Now I see there is an easier and faster option to doing it. I'm all about it. The box wrench method is not going to work for me anymore. Thx for bring the new method to light. Heal quickly we need you back to bang shifting some death metal scrap down some unsafe road. :)
As usual Mike, you teach me grace under pressure and to roll with the punches. Don't get rid of any rides, just lust after them until you can drive them again or rig up a hand actuated clutch! Thanks for teaching and entertaining me.
You keep so many intertaind it must be baffling every morning. Bet when you were 20 working on you miny truck you could dream this. Man you give cancer people feel better. That’s a gift you need to always remember, you are blessed my man, but you share and give it all with fans!! Keep up the good work.
I had my ankle screwed together when I had my 55 post car that was called cherry picker, from Utah. I payed 1050 tun key badass. But my foot and leg turned purple , yellow and looked like touting meet when my first cast came off. Prepare yourself for that day my friend.
I recently retired and now spend a lot of my extra time watching Finnegan's Garage. I have always followed your channel but now it's like a good friend to see. I watch it every time I get a message and stay to watch more episodes I might have missed in the past.
Thanks for the tip in the video on rotating the feeder for the TechFlex! I’m going to use it to re-loom the engine bay harness on my 01’ Bullitt. The Bullitt engine bay was clear coated from the factory unlike the GT’s so it will look really clean with the TechFlex and some detailing.
Same break on November 6 of last year they operated on November 20. I made it about two weeks with a crutch then I start walking. I guess that’s not bad because I just turned 72 this month of March and that’s my first broken bone. Stay with a crutch my friend it pays in the long run.
Gimpy McGee automotive wiring specialist. He will ensure all the smoke stays inside the wires! Another great video. Wiring is a tough daunting job and the right tools make it so much easier.
Hi Mike, I liked reading your write ups an editorials in hotrod magazine an then on RoadKill, HotRod Garage, an Finnegan's Garage, thank you for all you have introduced all of us in the car hobby. Cheers to a speedy recovery!!
As a 30+year aircraft electrician “If you know how to do it right, you can do it wrong and it’s ok” is never said out loud.lol I love not being afraid of wiring! We just welded an old HEI and used it to trigger Holley Sniper efi to control timing in a 454 powered International Pick Up. Don’t need no new fangled billet…
Just drove my 63 falcon for the first time in 15 years. I ran a bunch of loose wire to make it happen. This is the perfect timing as I start actually wiring the car so I can finally enjoy it.
I completely rewired 2 motorcycles after breaking my back! Once i was able to sit up, i put chairs on both sides of my motorcycle lift and just hobbled side to side. At the time, no aftermarket or OEM harnesses were available for a 1959 BMW R69 OR a 1951 triumph t100, so i fabricated new harnesses for both. Only pre made parts were the connectors and plugs, the rest was all me.
Joe is doing great. Really good replacement after Newbern left. I think I speak for many that we were sad to see him go but happy to have Joe on the channel. Mike youre awesome and have cool friends.
Nice work you guys I don’t currently have a project car. But I’m a HVAC service tech and I love control wiring. It’s so rewording to have things work properly when you’re done. I’ve become so much better at troubleshooting cars because of my experience. I’m not looking for a kit but the young guys should jump in on troubleshooting it’s fun.
I absolutely love the attention you and your platform are giving the datsun 510. Such an iconic car. Maybe more people will start to appreciate that lil gem. Im fortunate enough to have a 69 2 door 510 in my garage. Just need to stop being lazy and start finishing the rust repair
Just went the Boise Roadster Show and saw 2 of your favorite types of vehicles, a 91 S10 bagged mini-truck and a 71 510 Datsun like yours but black. I could use the wiring kit as I’m building a 23 Roadster. Been following you for a while and love watching your content. Stay off the foot 6-8 weeks will go fast, don’t sell any of your 3 peddle cars spend the time with your family
Hear me out. Fabricate a metal plate with a 90deg angle that goes under your boot. Attach it to the boot with Velcro. That way, you can drive a stick shift without putting pressure on your broken leg 😎
Mike you say “I broke my leg snowboarding”. But we all know you were just clutch kicking that Datsun all the way home. Love your videos spewing i cant get motortrend here is Aus, to easily find and watch the roadkill episodes as they come out. But all you guys make a great, interesting and funny show one of my favs for sure 👌cheers 🍻
Awesome choice. Love the variety of cars on the show. I'd love to see a motor swap with a small supercharger. Keep up the good work. Hope the legs heals quick.
Oh Finnegan...you fill my evenings with Roadkill, Faster, and all the other shows on MotorTrend. As much as I would like to be watching some crime show or other syndicate drama. I find myself laughing along with my boys and my husband watching your show, and learning things about cars I never knew before. I even bought myself a blasphemi hoodie! Special memories with all of my boys!
Hey Mike I'm an OG fan and love everything you do. I have inherited a 1961 Ford Thunderbird convertible from the passing of my wife's aunt. The car was sitting outside under a bunch of tarps. So when we had to move it from its resting spot since 2001 and saw that the inside of the car had been completely eaten by rodents down to the complete wiring we need to redo all the interior and wiring harnesses to get the top to actuate seeing its a ballet of relays, pumps and mechanisms. So this Wirecare bundle would help us get this car back on the road in tribute to my wife's aunt. Thanks Finnegan and Joe for the banter and awesome content.PS we need some Tony Angelo collabs!
I have a 77’ VW bus and also melted the main wire harness. I had a brand new harness made, and I am rewiring the whole bus. I decided that just doing the front wiring was not worth it. Making that decision was tough but what I have found proved that I made the correct decision. I also fell and tore up my shoulder so wiring was something that I could handle while recovering. I love your show and you are the reason I bought a power probe.
Sorry to hear of the bad wiring on your new ride, I had the same happen to my 1955 Chevy 2 door wagon. Glad my car insurance came thru for me and did me right. Best of luck in your recuperation and getting back to what you love to do !!
In high school back in the 80s, my best friend had an old Dotson. We loved cruising on the weekend chatting with girls. Got lucky a few times in that car. Unfortunately, my friend 's mom let his lil sister use it one weekend and she let her bf drive it and he totalled it.
Back in 1973 my Mom was the first female car salesperson in the town I'm from , she worked at the Datsun dealership !!! She bought a brand new 1973 Datsun 4 door ( 210 I think it was) red 4 spd !!! I was 14 and that was the car I lernt to drive stick shift !!! Many days slamming gears in it (sitting in the garage) !!! LOL Yours brings back lotsa memories !!! Stay off that foot !!! Thanks for the entertainment 👍!!!
the funnest car,I owned 71 4 door 510. Was a blast to drive. Bought in pomona swap meet drove it home to Chattanooga..5 days to get home. Replacing parts on the way..Done all the cool mods. Bought a wrecked 200sx. Stole everything I could off it. Engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, it still running around Atlanta area to this day. 20 years later.
OMG I have always been the 12 volt guy and have built wire looms for lighting on my truck, which I’m doing in a day or two and I’ve done all the wiring on my pontoon for stereo and nighttime lighting. I’m finishing the wiring on my used quad for lights, turn signals and winch. That loom is so much better than the plastic split loom. Throw the “3M” connectors away.
Im a huge 510 fan i had a 4door about 15yrs ago. Once i can afford one again im definitely buying one watching this video brought back so much memories when i use to work on the one i had. Sad part is some guy that was on drugs crashed rite into my driver door and totaled my car. If not i still would have the car. I was devastated when i lost my car. Being a truck driver and living on the road being the sol provider for my family will make it hard to get another one soon but im praying sooner then later i can get one again. Love your videos im a die hard datsun and toyota fanatic im a old school guy that had alot of these gems you have and born and raised in Hawaii there aint much left but now im in the states theres still some i see that still exists. Thanks again for the great content! 🙏🏽🤙🏽
I appreciate the entertainment Mike! This year is the year I finally saved for a good welder and started rebuilding my dad's old Jeep XJ, the wiring in it is a mess so I'd make use of the tools/connectors.
I hate wiring but I'm about to re-wire my Duster project just so I don't have to mess with bad wiring in the future. I know being stuck in a boot is annoying but remember it is temporary and don't do anything you'll regret later. Keep up the good work, your channel and builds are such an inspiration to get out to the garage and make some progress!
So miss building systems. Currently working on the wiring on a Yukon XL. Bit more wires then the Datsun just as tedious though. Have used the boxed end for years for wire looming. Great content.
. * * * * It's a good thing that you didn't break your arm . When I broke my knee cap , I was immobilized a little bit longer than you , and I had to go out into the woods , just to drive my 4 speed Dodge 4x4 ! Jump in , put it in gear and hit the starter , felt so good to be driving , stiff leg and all . Keep doing what you do !
That sleeving looks great. Somewhere down the line I want to completely rebuild the wiring harness on my 1983 944 and some of that sleeving would tidy things up nicely. The ancient wiring isn't the most reliable thing especially when the bodgery of previous owners is taken into account. Looks like they're a UK company as well so I'll adctually be able to buy it over here!
I have a Datsun 410 also doesn’t have brake lights this is the first video that has actually addressed the issue. I just installed an inline fuel pump as the mechanical one is trash and it runs so good I’m excited to get it on the road.
Love the show. Shame a hole caused that injury. Sounds like what would happen to me. Currently rebuilding my grandfather’s 67 C10 for my son to drive. He gets his license tomorrow. 🤞 Doing body work now. But will definitely be doing some working. Bought a lot many years ago. Hit unfortunately as the truck sat for many years. The mice decided to cause issues and ate bunch of the new harness. Not looking forward to diagnosing that. Again enjoy your show and all the other shows.
Good call on not buying the Mazda truck. Mini's are awesome, but that one would need a engine swap or a full bada$$ build on the engine. Your channel is the only one I have set to send me notifications when a new video is available. I always wanted a tacoma like the 97 you had in mini trucking years ago. I actually started building one but got rid of it and focused on family. My next build I want to build either a 55 or 57 chevy, it doesn't matter if it's a 4 door, a 2 door post, a 2 door, a nomad or a station wagon; I just want to build one. I think the wagon would be the best option in my opinion because not that many people do them and most people think that they are a nomad anyway.
at 24 years old i’ve learned that this stuff happens for a reason, life pulled you back but it’s okay. sometimes when you lock a door behind you one opens by itself in front of you!👍
Working hard on my Volvo Amazon 2 door coupe. It's my first project car and i really want to do it right. Eventually I want it to have Mazda Miata subframes along with other Miata parts like the gearbox, a Halltech Nexus R3 VCU and a Honda K24 engine. Always loved the show and anything Roadkill! Thanks for all the hours of entertainment!!
I try to avoid wrapping wiring with electrical tape. Instead, I use the split nylon loom like you did (not the corrugated stuff), and if the harness is exterior of the cabin, wrap the loom with abrasion/heat resistant tape (you can't be too careful with external wiring, especially in high-heat conditions). I use electrical tape to essentially do the same thing you did - anchor the loom at each end, and secure branches in the harness. Good job.
I've got a '72 Chevy/Grumman Stepvan with a 327 swapped in it. hasn't been on the road since '95, wiring was completely gone. Been working on rewiring it with a regular pickup harness. I've got it functional but still a long ways to go. Definitely gonna need some tools and loom to make this mess nicer. I try to balance the manual and auto trans vehicles I have so I don't run into the problem you have run into. I love manual but auto has some advantages. Get well soon can't wait to see what you get into this summer!
I'm currently restoring a 1986 calssic mini, and it's got really bad wiring where it sorted out under the bonnet and set fire. I'm currently trying to peace it together. One of them electric kits will be much welcomed 😊
To think, over a decade ago Mike and David were fixing up beaters and driving them cross country. And now mikes playing around with one of dream cars. So cool to witness the journey

Contest is over. i'm now reviewing the comments and choosing the winner. Winners names will be announced during next Sunday's video. By the way, if anyone here says you've won or asks you to text/call a number or send money please ignore them because its a scam.
Was to late then 😂
Thanks, I'm glad I came here to check because I received a e-mail... I knew it was too good to be true 👍🏻
The scammers are targeting comments, you might want to put out a statement and delete them. I reported them but considering how old this scam is I have little hope they'll do anything
Yep. They got me for 40 bucks and are looking for another 220. Fuuuudge. 40 I can deal with. 220 makes me pissed.
Guy's got an invoice and everything for the total wiring package. Everything is a scam. dammit.
Maybe he thinks he's gonna die from his broken ankle😅.
ADHD NOW NOT ADD
@@jamesmeredith381 depends on how long ago you were diagnosed. ADD used to be the same diagnosis of what is ADHD…. I guess I just provided backing to my “ADD” and aged myself at the same time :) 🤘
@@jamesmeredith381 The two are entirely different.
Love the Datsun 510's,
When I broke my leg 17 years ago, I also was laid up on a couch.
My wife went garage selling with the kids and brought home two kittens to keep me company. DON'T let your wife go garage selling.:)
All kidding aside, the kittens did help keep me busy.
I just want to say thank you for everything you do for so many people out there ❤️
Thanks for watching! glad to hear the good news about her having a clean bill of health now!
@ClickOnProfile0426 Hey Mike, What's up? How ya feeling? Ralph
Keep your head up
Back in 2021 I was at a show and a girl was trying to back up a 69 Camaro and had it inn1st gear instead of reverse and ran over my right leg broke my femur and crushed my knee.
I can totally relate to your dad. My very first car back in 1988 was a pumpkin orange Datsun 510. I truly miss that thing! 😪
Mike,This is real world automotive wiring like we do it in our own garage. Thanks for showing us that, even though the haters will have their head explode from seeing you use the connectors that work but are not "Professional" .Get well soon.
Thanks for watching!
Hang in there Mike, the boot will be off before you know it.
thank you!
I use the non sticky wiring tape - well, it sticks to itself but doesn't ooze sticky goo everywhere like usual hardware insulation tape.
Thank you for all you do, Mike. Your Inspiring and motivating. Stay healthy, do what the doc says, and you'll be back slamming gears in no time!
twenty years ago i broke my right leg, tib and fib about two inches above the ankle. yes i had surgery, two plates and 17 screws later i knew when rain was coming. i am glad you did not need surgery, and follow what the doc says. i wish you a speedy recovery.
if this is mike mike messaging, texting is something i do not do, or have the ability to do.
@@fredflintsone3850 it isn't it's a well known scam, report them and hope TH-cam deal with it
Hey mike, just wanted to say thank you for all you do. Thank you for all you do Mike your the inspiration me and a ton of others needed!
man that got me all in the feels. thank you!
dude there have a troll load of scammers hitting me up saying I won't
Hey Mike I’m john I met you a longtime ago at a mini truck show in north Mississippi I got out of mini trucks and started drag racing now I have a 2003 s10 blazer going to build a new mini truck I love that datson keep building I would love to see more of your toyota
Had to sell my 4x4x7 powdercoating oven and sand blast cabinet when work slowed down and I got scammed out of $4200. I enjoyed it but I’ll get it back someday. You inspire me to keep grinding even when life gives you lemons. Or a broken leg in your case lol keep grinding!
Another great video even with your broken leg can’t stop you. Have to love that old Datsun
But I still like watch u work on cars of trucks and tell Joe that I said hi from Walton NY
Even with a broken leg a car can be rewired! All what it takes is desire and ambition. Keep wrenching!
When I was a kid
(around 10, I'm 62now).
I wish something like that wiring kit had been around back around '61, when I totally rewired a '50 Oldsmobile 88 from scratch... when I was about 13.
Boots and crutches suck!!! Been there done that. Feels like it takes forever to get rid of them. Hang in there Finnegan.
As boring as wiring is, its so satisfying when it works the first time. Nice job. Keep the videos coming. I'll keep watching. Good luck with the leg!
Thanks for watching!
I recently retired and now spend a lot of my extra time watching Finnegan's Garage. I have always followed your channel but now it's like a good friend to see. I watch it every time I get a message and stay to watch more episodes I might have missed in the past.
Thanks for watching!
Go for a button controlled clutch. Take out the left foot need. And your off and running
As a 30+year aircraft electrician “If you know how to do it right, you can do it wrong and it’s ok” is never said out loud.lol
I love not being afraid of wiring!
Awesome little 510. I've watched them run at Seattle Internanional Raceway back in the 70's.
This one is your favorite. By far.
Wiring is a LOT more fun with the right stuff! I love looking at that engine.. it’s like a mini 240 engine.
Heal up!
Early 510s are awesome. I am working on my 1950 F1 truck mostly finished except wiring. Modified flathead. Really need wiring. Love all your shows !
Once ya go power probe... ya never go back! Saves a person from a wiring aneurysm!
Nice seeing you get around praying for a fast recovery. Love seeing you last video nice seeing you spend time with your family and gorgeous Datsun
Great content.
those cars were the high school dream ....with a bumping stereo and monza dual exhaust tip
Wiring is my Zen!
Wiring cars is an art, for the patient. Insanity for the everyone else. I'm doing electrical on my 73 Charger. Have all the fun!
Pandemic Jeep needs some serious WireCare. Love the stories you guys tell. Real stuff for real people trying to do real stuff....Thanks.
I would add dielectric grease to the plugs before installation for ease of assembly and act as a moister barrier. But that's just me.
Good job.
And Dat sun is why you use Wirecare products. Thanks for another great video.👍🏼
