Keep up the outstanding work as always! I always appreciate you taking the time to make these videos for us! Looks like its warmer over in iowa that wisconsin, we have been hammered by rain and snow! Got our planter serviced and all ready to go for spring! Cant wait for more of the 80's series! The excavator sounds like a beast! Hope all is well on the farm and with family! YEEYEE, and have a good one! :-)
I’ve really enjoyed seeing all of the videos involving you and Spencer’s journey with starting a farm! I am roughly your age and have a background in the excavating industry. I started row crop farming here in Michigan on a small scale and am getting ready to tackle my fourth year. I have done similar improvements to my farm with a couple different excavators as well as a skidsteer with a root grapple and a brush hog (I may upload some video footage from that). It is awesome to watch you guys do a similar thing to what I’m doing, albeit my farm is definitely smaller. If I ever make it out to Iowa, I would love to check out your operation! As far as your “new to you” excavator goes, I have a couple of tips. When you grease the turntable, most manufactures do not necessarily want grease coming out of the seal unless it gets contaminated with water. Also, when digging, ripping out stumps, or lifting, try to keep your drive motors towards the back on the excavator. This will put less wear on your undercarriage as well as improve the balance of your machine. The fuel system debacle made me think of a similar event involving a Kobelco excavator that we rented a few years ago. I noticed that it seemed to be running low on power, and eventually, it quit running altogether. Turns out the bottom of the fuel tank had this nasty sludge and sediment buildup that was lining the entire bottom of the tank. I was definitely glad that we didn’t own that machine! You guys are doing great and I look forward to more videos! If you have any questions regarding excavating, don’t hesitate to reach out!
Ye got the machine their a shredder or mulcher which would destroy all them trees, plus the diesel filter needs changing there mite be a pencil in the out pipe connection by the filter housing in newish machines .believe me I spent hrs look for fuel fault on machine To find someone put a pencil filter in the line somewhere .keep up the good work guys the returns will come soon
The idea of training for the excavator might just be the greatest I’ve ever heard, it may not be the most accurate and realistic but you get to have a fun time, love your vids keep up the great work
Swing ring bearing usally have a plug you need to remove prior to greasing. Ones i grease you pull a plug then grease the swing bearing till grease comes out the plug hole. Nice machine!
Grant! You need to have that tractor dyno'd to be sure. We have a few tractors Eko tuned and the files don't always give you the hp they say. Our guy brings a dynamic with him and checks before and after results. Sometimes he needs to upload 2 or 3 files to get the hp gains they claim. For rhe money if double check with a dyno to be sure.
I think it's awesome looking at all the Giant Operations, and just seeing how small we are in this Giant Game of Farming. Really feels awesome to be so tiny compared to everyone else. I kind of like it. Strange to say though.
I been Landscaping and Hardscaping for 20 years that retaining wall yall built is a big money business with crazy profit margins when your efficient .Ive done 50% on a lot of projects.Good money in the off season you can do hardscapes in the slow winter months.
Loving the videos. I'm a CAT control preferred guy myself. All of our tie cranes at the RR are plumbed Cat as well so it's nice not to have to remember what is what when going between equipment
You should put a battery disconnect on the 8110. We did no have one on or 8110 and it burned up and our tractor is a pile of ashes. The wiring shorted out
Did you inquire if the previous owners of that land knew of a reason for the trees lining the B road? What if it turns out they were there on purpose for wind or erosion protection?
What you are destroying, are wildlife travelways and habitat sanctuaries. Without these you will increase the insect damage to your farm crops, because your insect devouring songbird count, that relie on those trees and overgrown areas for nest to raise their young, will no longer be there at their current population levels. Insect control by way of chemicals is not environmentally sound farming compared to the number of insects the birds consume, not to mention insect control by birds is free.
You guys made the right decision putting the excavator in ISO CAT controls because almost everyone operates international standard of operating controls. By using ISO you guys can get into pretty much anything and run it. So cool that you are fortunate enough to even have a farm to fulfill your dreams. I've been watching you guys since you were just virtual farmers in farming simulator 2013 a lot of things changed since then but it proves that the game can be used as a tool to train for real life situations in a sense.
If you still have issues with the excavator, you might have dirt in the "rock screens" in the banjo fittings. If you pull out the banjo bolt at the inlet to the fuel injection pump, there will be a small screen threaded into the fitting as a last filter in case anything gets past the filter. There may be more than just the one in the system. I work at a link belt dealer, and this is one of the most common things we find when we get called out for fuel issues, as no one knows they are there.
I would run the excavator basically to empty and then change the fuel filters again. And just keep doing it and eventually it’ll clean itself out. Worst case scenario is you have to drain all the fuel and pressure wash the inside out and clean it really good. Good video.
What actually you do is pump the fuel out into a barrel then vacuum the rest out then air out the lines new fuel filters if that don't fix it injectors
Just dropping in to say loving the content, enjoy watching farm vlogs, you dropped in on one of my live streams awhile back just thought id leave a comment somewhere
We had an old excavator it behave the same in the morning it worked perfectly then after it gets hot after a few a hours it would start working too slow try changing the hydraulic oil also it might help
Makin progress already cleanup nicely are you renting a semi truck and trailer to haul around excavator. Can’t wait till you boys get a semi keep it up
Next time you have to do something like that, put a shop vac on the top of the tank and put a vacuum on the tank, then the fluid won't pour out the bottom.
Man oh man imma say this iso and backhoe controls are both fast controls don’t affect the hydraulic pump so if people think one is faster than the other then they are dumb cause the hydraulic pump is the same. Good video aswell and don’t forget to grease that machine and clean the tracks off!
It's not about the speed of some pump. All it is doing is changing what joystick does the swing and stick in and stick out function. the operator chooses a control pattern and then runs it.
@@mathewgrinnell7392 yea but that doesn’t affect the pump on the machine it’s all about personal preference cause I run both controls and I find them both as fast
@@midwestdairyfs3122 you are correct. The speed is from being proficient in the controls. Not the pump you can change the hoses but it's still the same pump.
@@mathewgrinnell7392 thank you yea hahaa and I find it personal preference for me cause I jump out of loads of excavators minis and 14ton machines working for abn home group so yea hahaa people may think it’s faster but it’s all down to that pump at the end of the day

Bit tree removal advice, start burning piles while the eskivator is still piling them, trust me it works a lot better than coming back and burning the piles
One thing you should know is you dont want to over grease the house and blow that seal out which I have seen many times, 10 pumps of grease every 250 hours is all you need and you dont want to see the grease coming out!
Pro tip!!! Do not EVER approach that machine away from the cab side. He can’t see you and he could swing and knock your ass into next year. Never ever do that! Especially when you have a city boy at the tiller.
Better get a few extra fuel filters when it starts boughing down shut it down and replace them filters are cheaper than what ever else you can ruin if you continue to use it
I would just flush the whole fuel system, clean the tank, change the filters and make sure you use some fuel additive when adding fresh fuel. Better do it good now, than keep limping....
If you have any more fuel problems you may have to clean the tank take the tank off and have it cleaned how to tractor that I had that issue it would go for a little bit and then stop had to take the tank off and have a professionally cleaned

You need to cut a hole in your pallet forks and the you can put a ball and a nut for moving things around your shop
very good video, very interesting that machine really gave both of you a really hard time but you figured it out together you both did a grand job

One thing you should look at for your excavator is a root rake. Really good for knocking down trees and shaking dirt from the stumps.
Your so great at every thing
Great videos young man. I watch them all. Keep up the great work. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Hey Grant you should buy a second tractor for the spring like a 8030 series or older back towards a 4640

Was just no one mowing the ditch. That's all. These are just little saplings that end up growing to be trees. Happens a lot on fence lines. :)

Could have algae in the tank. Should check for that if it’s been sitting and you have water in the fuel. Can cause major problems.

@@liftedburblife I was saying it this way because I saw Andrew camarata did it on his excavator and it worked really good.
They had the perfect opportunity to drain it and didn’t. That was a mistake. They will be changing filters again sooner then later.
