Ok. I'm also an aspie and not really a fan of Britney Spears or the sort of music she does i.e. teeny-bop pop type music. Am more Rock N Roll. Guitar, Drums, and no Auto-Tune. So my opinion is totally unbiased. So from my perspective as a none fan. I feel that Britney has been treated very unfairly from day one. I mean she breaks out in 1997/8 and right away the media are all over her and rather exploitative of her as they always seem to be with young women. And that for me would be enough to drive anyone to a breakdown. Especially in a time when stuff is going wrong. Like it was for Britney. Much like the one that Britney had in 2008. Now am not sure of her state of mind now because have not really been following to much. But I'd say that if her state of mind is in a better place now and all. Then the case definitely should be reevaluated as you say. Also, it is worth pointing out that the Late Winston Churchill the former wartime prime minister of the UK was a manic depressive and suspected Bi-Polar. And he ran the UK during a really tumultuous time. This proves what is said in the video about people with mental health problems being able to be functional members of society. Just my two cents.
Man, I had lost track of you for a lot of years. Congrats on becoming a psychologist! As far as Brittney goes, I’ve never been much of a fan of her nor most of her music - it’s just never been my thing. I also recognize that she was on a bad streak and in some real trouble several years back when this whole conservatorship happened - and it was honestly probably in her best interest at that time. But I had no idea that this is what was going on and is still going on today, nor that under this arrangement, she was still working and making albums and doing concerts but had no control over the contracts she entered or the work she had to do, or that she couldn’t control who she talks to or when, or any of that. So as far as any bias goes, mine is likely almost polar opposite to what your bias would be, but I actually completely agree with you. From my personal point of view, I don’t know if she’s really in a mentally/psychologically healthy enough position to be fully independent or not, and she may still need some kind of control or someone to be accountable for her wellbeing to keep her from getting into trouble she can’t get out of or causing harm to other people. And given what I saw with her growing up from the start of her career, I really believe she was in an incredibly toxic environment and surrounded by sychophants and users and abusers, and I’m not sure very many people could have come through all of that experience unscathed - no matter their age, but particularly for her at her age. This conservatorship sure looks an awful lot like an abuse/exploitation to me and it leaves a very raw, bitter taste in my mouth, and I can’t believe it’s still a thing with her. It’s barbaric. The “system” - any system - exists to benefit those who create that system, and in this case it doesn’t seem like it’s doing a very good job of that, so it should be corrected and better controls and protections need to be built around something like this to minimize the potential for abuse. I don’t even have words to describe the concerns this causes to me - it’s very troubling. I don’t know and can’t say whether she should “go free” or be fully independent because I don’t have the knowledge or background or expertise to make that kind of decision, but it sure _feels_ a lot like her reality is a few orders of magnitude below what it really ought to be, if we as humanity actually want to lay claim to our beloved notion of “humanity”. If nothing else, Britney’s money should be kept from her control to the extent necessary to ensure she awlays has enough to support her the rest of her life with whatever care needs she may have if she’s disabled, and those charged with managing those things for her should only be entitled to the bare minimum necessary to support exactly those requirements and nothing more. They should NOT be able to enter contracts on her behalf, or make her produce albums or perform concerts without her consent, and certainly not if any of those things are profitable. Now if those things are done _with_ her knowledge and consent, that’s another thing entirely, and just because she has no legal right to have any say so doesn’t mean that she isn’t afforded with those opportunities - so that should also be investigated and accounted for if that’s the case. But all of this is just a really long way of saying that I think you’re right on the money with your take. In both the best and the worst case scenarios, it is deeply troubling and concerning. Slavery isn’t supposed to be a thing. Neither is human trafficking, which is essentially what these things are if they’re being done without her informed consent (and if she’s not capable of managing herself, then she’s not capable of granting informed consent either - it’s along the same lines as why a minor can’t enter into a contract, because informed consent is not possible).
She said she was prescribed lithium, which means her doctors most likely believed she has bipolar. Bipolar can fluctuate with episodes. So at time may seem to function better than other time. She has made reference to going into her performance character as being like bipolar. Hypersexuality can go with elevated moods. She said has history of trauma. She is no longer performing (and I am not sure currently able to) at previous levels. Her Instagram indicates she keeps performing for the camera in hypersexualised ways, even when no longer in a professional capacity.
Very interesting videos I want you to keep doing them the talk is so important so people can know, I been following all the topics that you cover from the Pokémon go game and now the way people is with Britney Spears from his father and people from court, by the way I have my mother helping me with the money the government is giving me in how to spend it and the benefits they give me cause I have ASD(Autism spectrum disorder) also know as aspergers
Wow, young lady, you are right up there; you may talk like a computer! I am familiar with this kind of thing. Britney is now able to perform the arts well, and handle a $150,000 weekly allowance. Yet for common diagnoses she is a functioning puppet under lock and not her key. Why is this still a permanent conservatorship? My late Aunt Mina was left alone when her hubby Joe died. Still she sold their house then placed herself in a good apartment which I saw was well furnished and kept. She was well dressed and kept herself fine. Yet she was born with what you might call a performance disability. She was wed out of a family which treated her like a slave. She did not fight for her upbringing because she was sensitive, with one of the kindest, gentlest and loving hearts known. She could be so used by her immediate family because they were all she knew and could hope for when young and isolated. She was not functionally disabled. Though now old, she set herself up well with her late hubby Uncle Joe's, aka her, money. She used to go to a big, nearby restaurant. Upon first entering an unfamiliar situation she simply stood there confused. Mina had always done their own cooking. The waiters always gave Mina her own booth and treated her like a queen. Though performance disabled and thus helped, she endeared herself to the staff. Then the witch of the family, Marlene, and her cohorts swept her up somehow with Mina's substantial money. They wisked her way out West with them. We hated that but could do nothing about it. Strangely, I personally believe out of extreme abuse, Mina died in five months. Marlene with friends got all her money. There was nothing my family could do about it. We did not even know exactly where Marlene and Aunt Mina were located. I wept writing this example out. Mina was just an odd, but capable, lovable old bird. 🧡 🤧
Hello from Surrey BC Canada. I still utilize your music as part of my construct. Maja, please consider posting a daily 5 minute video of your thoughts. That way more Neuro-Typicals may better comprehend the persona variants that accompany the day to day functionality of HFA-Typicals.
off-topic-- Maja, have you heard of maladaptive daydreaming? In a video, Eli Sommer said that maladaptive daydreaming is (somewhat) more common in people on the autism spectrum. I would love for you to do a video on maladaptive daydreaming, what your opinion is of maladaptive daydreaming, etc. (I am a maladaptive daydreamer myself. And I'm on the spectrum.)
+TheAnMish *Good explanation from the psychologic perspective of the abuse potential for conservancies.* Incidentally, I couldn't help noticing the new nail shimmer; which brand and part number? I've a niece candidate to which I'd like to gift the product or a dupe.
Thank you. :) I just wanted to share some thoughts on the topic as it has been very much on my mind lately. The nail polish is Holo Taco's 'Fake Date'. They have many other variations of shiny, though, so you may want to look through their site for options.
She shouldn’t be under it still tbh especially if she is currently working a lot more then most people and essentially doesn’t even have the power to make her own decisions. The maximum limit it should be is to have a percentage set aside for her retirement if she stops working in the future especially as she is able to make so much now in her industry so would be in her best intrest to not have to worry about money when she is older. If she can manage 150,000 a week /600,000 month income how can she have no capacity? Her estimated net worth says online as only 60m in 2021 when she made apparently 137m from her Vegas residencey? If she lacks capacity I agree then it would be classed as abuse as she is signing contracts and being made to perform in such things not to mention if someone lacks capacity $150,000 is enough to cause serious harm to ones life so the fact she is able to manage that makes it seem like she is in fact not lacking capacity. Again she is able to work ! So is so strange she is deemed to need one as she clearly has capacity. I agree with your points 100%
Could you recommend me some researchers who at the same time are disability-rights advocates. I know some names: Michael Ashley Stein, Anita Silvers...Michael Oliver I'll do a paper in regards this topic and would like a robust theoretical framework since which starting. I'll appreciate. Thank you
As several commenters have referred to a $150.000 a week allowance, I am worried that I misspoke. Her reported weekly allowance is $1.500, and her father's is $2.500 (I believe this number is on top of his salary and cut of her earnings, but do take this with a grain of salt. I do not have the documents and can't remember where I saw this).
Congratulations on becoming a psychologist!
Congratulations on being a psychologist, TheAnMish! I didn't had a diagnose when I started seeing your videos and now I have. Life goes on.
This is excellent, and your work is much-appreciated.
whew this whole thing is insane and i'm impressed by how generous and level-headed you're able to be about this whole topic :O

Okay, I just have to ask this question because I don't think there will be another time when it's appropriate to ask. What did "TheAnMish" mean?
I'm curious to know also.
Honestly, I don't remember. :D
I think the fact that Kanye has never been under a conservatorship says it all.
