Yup. It's Entrapment they do. They will tell you it has to be done by this time or "In a timely manner". Then call you to meetings, check ins, ask you to do something else, help someone else for a minute... then when your original assignment is behind or not done, they write you up for insubordination or slacking. It's pretty classic of sabotage micromanagement, that way they get to make everyone else look incompetent, while they are the "Hero that keeps the store working well." Then they get bonuses / raises / promotions. They don't care if they get a hundred other people fired, as long as they get more. If I see a micromanager, I automatically assume they are a psychopath or sociopath, because they have ZERO empathy about ruining others lives for their own benefit.
During my first check-in, my manager told me to not surf the internet because one time, an employee tried to print a recipe at work and it somehow shut all of the printers down… Everyone surfs the internet when I’m at Work… even my bosses. So yeah. That story from my manager was a load of bullshit. I’m not as naive as I used to be from when I started working at this job. I honestly think that my manager doesn’t like me nor respect me, because I just got accepted into nursing school and as much as I’m trying to focus on myself and my future, my manager told me that it’s more important to put my job first right now. I’m looking forward to leaving and never looking back. My bosses suck.
"You've been in the break room for 16 min and you know your break is 15 min" had a manager like this and almost slapped the taste out his mouth for this exact reason

i nearly quit yesterday because one of the managers thought she could lock the back door so we can't take cigarette breaks or take out trash. instantly pissed everybody off in back of house (myself included) and we were all seconds away from all just heading out the front door to smoke rather if they liked it or not until that power hungry manager realized that if she kept fucking around she would find out what its like to cook at all 3 stations by herself on a busy friday and since she can't be ass'ed to get out of the office half the time she let the other manager unlock the door so we could use our smoking area again and take out trash
I left after 3 months of working there. Got tired of two of the three supervisor acting like I wasn't working fast enough and one of those two had a habit of talking to me like a dog

Dropped the vest and walked out. A day later this bitch was begging me to come back and finish this weeks shift til she found someone because they were now short because I was the 3rd new hire to quit that week. Number, blocked.
Talk about micromanagement, my boss would actually "correct" my emails before sending them to other departments or "correct" my analysis only to get rejected by the upper management. After this happened a few times she stopped "correcting" me and the analysis stopped getting rejected. She would ask questions about why do I look tired and that I should get better sleep to be fit at work, even though she knew I had a newborn baby. The list goes on and on. Some people are not in control of the situation so they put pressure on other people to cover for their incompetence.
I had a manager that would say stupid stuff like “this is a high velocity department we expect you’re work done in a timely manner” my boy were re-stocking shelves and picking items its not that deep 😂

I looked at them as if they were crazy, laughed and said it was a funny joke, they said they weren't laughing, I continued laughing cause there was no way, those pallets were a hour job each and that's with you busting ass and breaking your back

A week later to the day I thought that he comes over and starts to shit on me for not being faster and I stopped what I was doing and looked him in the eye and say. I would have gotten to this sooner if you where not wasting my time and your time by skirting your management job in your office. Instead you roaming around the floor aimlessly interrupting actual workers doing work. I quit and walked out. Felt great as fuck, but man did I struggle for 4 weeks at a new job with a missing paycheck inbetween.
