I live in Nairobi and I'm lucky to have met him up close in 2015 when he visited Kenya. He shook my hand and spoke to a few of us with all the attention as if we were the only people existing on earth (and that was a hall full of people by the way). That's a memory I'll take with me to the grave.

One of my favorite stories I heard about him is that a lot of those who worked with him had kids they would occasionally bring in, and the days he really had to get stuff done his aids would be like “don’t bring in your kids”. Because he would get so easily distracted. There are some really cute photos of him on the floor crawling around with his colleagues children it’s adorable.

I clearly recall sitting in a physician's waiting room in Spring 2008. There was a television on showing CNN and Obama appeared in a news story. A little kid -- maybe four years old -- was in the waiting room with what looked to be his grandfather. When the little boy saw Obama on the screen, he got extremely excited, jumping up and down and chanting "Obama, Obama, Obama . . . " The little boy was African-American and I was touched that Obama could be so inspirational for him. Undoubtedly President Obama has been inspirational for many people, both here and abroad.
I’m so glad I was here to see Barack Obama become our first African-American POTUS. He is one of the best this country will ever have. He represents exactly what a president should be: intelligent, compassionate without being a pushover, open to new ideas, and able to show grace and class in all situations. I miss him and Michelle!

What we’re dealing with now… 🤦🏽♀️ This was the first time I got so emotional since he left office and I literally cried just now when that little girl said that she misses him😢 How I wish that we had that type of “human” in the office right now. Nobody is perfect. No one person will satisfy the needs of everyone on this planet. Not even God himself can make everyone happy. But this is a man that truly cared/cares about others… Not just himself.

Children know when they are loved. He had that aura people felt. His loving spirit that protruded around him gracefully. His voice kept me and I’m sure a lot of people at ease. I knew he was taking on the responsibility of his country whether we disagreed or agreed. He did not battle against us he embraced our questions our criticism and even the hecklers with his smooth and precise un harsh manners. He knew how to answer with poise. He could have ran for 3rd term. He is missed
