  • In this episode of Steelfur Speaks, we continue with our weekly podcast format ( UK Tuesday). In this video we somehow chat the continued ?feelsbad? of Zen, and the latest news that FAB does intend to take some corrective action in the near future. Honestly, I said he wouldn't take another episode, and this is the last one.
If you have follow up questions, you can find me as Steelfur on most FAB Discords or on Twitter as as @SteelfurSpeaks - / steelfurspeaks
Writing project is on a short pause while I finish some other bits but it will resume soon, you can read up to chapter 8 here - rathefables.com/
Also if you like my channel and want to support what I do, feel free to support me here - / steelfurspeaks . There are no regular perks except the warm feeling of knowing you made me smile. It does also give you a direct line to me with any of your crazy tinfoil psyop FAB theories.

As a Vynnset main, Zen is frustrating for the same reasons other heroes not including Nuu have against him, however, his ability using his chest piece just to turn us off for 2 turns via a zen state token is back breaking.
When he was spoiled, my friend who was a Benji main pointed out how utterly absurdly broken he was depending on how easy it was to gain access to Chi, which was later spoiled to be extremely easy.
I feel for the new players who picked him up as a hero, but for those who adopted him who were already involved in the game knew how absurdly broken he was and would be subject to a quick LL run or receive some bans and potentially loose value in cards.
FAB is indeed a hard card game to balance, as adding cards to hand with tiger tokens/ endless shackles filling the yard just breaks the "limited 4 card hand resource" model of the game.
It's unfortunate that these issues are only addressed part way into a new season, similar to modern in MTG with Nadu, completely overshadowed excitement for the event, I completely appreciate that some heros will always be stronger than others, that's just games in general, however, the potential to be taken out T0 in blitz on the draw before you even take a turn needs an emergency ban no matter what way you spin it.
On a positive note, I'm super hyped for Florian, it hits every facet of design that I like.

I 100% agree that fab is hard to balance. You have to break the four card limit to enable decks to push but if you do it in a way that is too consistent or problematic then yhe decks stomp. It’s a real challenge.
Both earth heroes are my jam.

They could just temporarily ban Art of War until Zen LLs out the format.

Errata hero ability to make 3 tigers.

I don't see LSS rolling back bans in CC. Just look at Fai after the Belittle ban. If they are too heavy handed with Zen then we will have 3 unplayable ninjas in CC. My guess is that will not go over well in the new Japanese market.

They have shown they are comfortable with doing an Erata on a hero where it is necessary. Zen is more stupid than Briar. Just erata his ability so that its create a tiger and reveal the card on top of your deck. If it is combo add it to hand.

    • @SteelfurSpeaks
      @SteelfurSpeaks  19 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

@@BrotherRobb that would absolutely cripple the deck. So hopefully not

Errata wise his ability putting the tiger in banish could be a slight ban but one that prevents him from getting "free" Art of Wars. Though don't believe that's the right way to handle any situation.
I personally dislike erratas outside of digital games since already printed versions don't reflect the new text.

@@lxmueller2I’m 100% with you on the dislike of errata’s. But I think they could make a sweeping change that just puts all tigers in banish and then change tooth and nail to check banish zone. Or something. It would be a big change text wise but it would be easy player wise because a tiger would never be in hand.

The Tiger in Hand, while strong, is not what is making him relevant. It's the facte Traverse says "When you defend with this, at the beginning of your next action phase, create a Couching Tiger in your hand search your deck for a card with Combo, banish it. You may play that card that turn". Zen becomes a nearly different hero when you can't tutor out Chi. Having to draw into your power turns or set up your nuke turn becomes way harder if the deck is not starting with an extra 2 to 3 cards accessable at any time.

I agree with the best solution is Errating his Ability. It's bonkers... Especially with his chestpiece and Traverse giving him insane value to go with a Tutor.
That way other Ninjas are not nerfed and other Mystics are not nerfed in order to fix the problem.
If he is Tiger themed then perhaps the solution is his Chi creates a Tiger then gives Tigers buffs for the turn.
If you want to keep the tutor then force him to work for it and allow a skilled opponent the opportunity to interfere/stop the tutor.
Much like Nuu where here ability is super powerful BUT the opponent can play around it to try in minimize it's potential power (and some decks just laugh at Nuu's ability)

Saying kano is a problem is a cop out. He is incredibly counterable especially by high level players. It is a feel bad deck at lower levels but is not consistent enough at a high level. Also if you think any of the new cards really push kano to a higher level you probably haven't played too much kano. There are some more blue 0 for 1s (maybe 1 or 2 of them are minor upgrades) and like one amp card but its a miss during the combo turn so you probably don't play it. Also if the wizards and runeblades are good they often have good kits with high ab to deal with kano. I know there are many people who want kano to leave because it sometimes a very uninteractive play experiences, but don't get your hopes up.

Nah I’ve played tonnes of Kano. Not really basing my idea of him being pushed on what we’ve seen but rather the fact that there are still loads of majestics and legendaries to come. Though what we have seen so far is decent.
Sure some people can handle Kano. I just think that he presents an unfun experience that shuts down certain lines of game play and isn’t enjoyable. The devs clearly agree. There is a reason that you are seeing both wizards still use attacks rather than being entirely NAA focused.

How is kano inconsistent at high level?? If your opponent isn't zen level aggro then you can go pitchstack mode and kill many decks. If your opponent doesnt pack ab they die to many combos really fast. I agree if you play off the top only then it can be inconsistent but good kano players calculate what is the best play and can pilot the deck to get many wins. The 'inconsistency' is first 2 rounds of a bigger event where you can get an unlucky mu but that can happen to every deck

Kano is just one of those decks that "If they have it" then you ain't really doing much to fight back unfortunately, regardless on what you're on or brining.
