- Charlie Brooker giving his opinions on Any dream will do, and Grease is the word. Funny, sarcastic and with great lines we all expect from him :).
"Take louise for example, What is he? what is he?? what exactly is he? He looks like 3 different members of take that simultaniously impersonating a snooker cue" - ตลก
its so sick its almost German hahaha
'impersonating three members of take that while simultaneously looking like a snooker cue'
lmao!
Brilliant, and strangely true
"They're like daycare workers from space.
I keep expecting their eyes to start glowing and for them to suddenly announce that they are our new leaders ."
Best part IMO!
"Beamed in from The Gillette dimension."
That killed me.
Good to know that my favourite stoic is also a Charlie Brooker fan.
Ohhhh he's ON The culture show!!
If only we could have Charlie Brooker reading the news every day :)
You can't imagine how long I've been looking for this information. I love you!
"They're like dreams from yesteryear, albeit the kind of dreams that leave you feeling you've been violated in your sleep."
...was particularly accurate.
Its by The Stranglers and its called "Waltzin' Black".... like a demented merry go round! Its a great tune.
hahahaha, absolutley brilliant, so many classic lines. :D
Genius - as always!!
Over a decade later, and that ALW show is still as creepy as anything, 2007 was a weird time
And you wonder why everyone goes out and gets shitfaced on a Saturday night in the UK.
It's chilling how 'The Eve of War' fits so well with the Joseph's synthetic grinning faces. I'm not sleeping tonight
Andrew "The Lord" Lloyd-Webber is like Mike Myers with aging makeup.
"gay equivalent of Virtua Fighter" made me laugh my ass off.
2:45 "he looks like three members of Take That simultaneously impersonating a snooker cue" xD
I was in Any Dream Will Do and even I was laughing!
Love the dark dark music.
FSOL.
"a semi-melted Paul Simon going to a fancy dress party as Mister T" - Fantastic :-D
Mr Syrett - LMAO, you put it so well.
I love the use of War of the Worlds music to signify paranoia.
I must say, this is probably the most accurate commentary I've heard on Reality TV in a very long time. The only thing I take exception to is that the commentator seems to think this kind of garbage is only limited to the UK. Trust me Mr. Brooker, the swill being produced here in the States isn't much better; it just simply has a better paint job on it.
Take a turd, put chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and a cherry on top, and it's still just a turd.
The 'plasterer from Rotherham' was lovely. :)
Thanks!
Managed to find the song. The songs Actually calle "Lux Aeterna" From the requem for a dream soundtrack.
Cheers :)
It makes them almost an anomaly in this day and age. They’re like dreams from yesteryear... or the kind of dreams that make you feel as if you’ve been violated in your sleep 😂 Charlie Brooker is such a downplayed comedian. He’s a fantastic satirist. He’s just brilliant wish we could see more of him. Black mirror was great too. A real visionary.
It's called Papua New Guinea by The Future Sound of London.
Thanks very much.
take lewis here... what is he? what IS he? WHAT EXACTLY IS HE??!? hahahahahha
Thank you.
Every morning on my way to uni, I have to pass a large, luridly bright poster advertising "Joseph and The Technicolour Dreamcoat". Every morning, I think back to this and have to restrain myself from laughing.
so funny gotta love brooker
bravo for using Bear McCreary in your program Charlie. You also mention BSG which that track is featured in in a Wipe, so you are obviously a real fan. So Say We All
brilliant always wondered what this was
the kind of dreams that would make you feel as if you've been violated in your sleep . lol legend
inside jobs yeah controlled demolitions yeah YEAH YEAH thee truth YEAH WAKE UP hahahaha
You sir! .. .are a god!
Using Battlestar Galactica music to imply dreaming! Perfect.
so funny, so good
Cheers mate.
Charlie Brooker is very talented.
4:35 Is that Kevin Bridges? :-P
This man is a genius.
Wow! thanks:) been trying to find the name of that tune for ages
"WHAT IS HE?"
"He looks like 3 different members of Take That simultaneously impersonating a snooker cue".
Proposition: A second license fee just for Charlie Brooker, so he can get back to just making screen/news/game/end of year wipe.
the man is so clever its unreal
Violence and variations for the win!
The music that starts at around 3 mins is from Jeff wayne's war of the worlds soundtrack, check it out it's great
he was singing "show of my own" when the lyrics should of been "land of my own" and because it was live you could hear one of the judges going "what the fuck!?" but not on this clip sadly.
It's Charlie Brooker's Screenwipe, just search Screenwipe and you will find almost every episode.
Please do a new show of this
It was on the culture show, as in part of the program :P, instead of being part of screenwipe.
It's so sick it's almost German is one of the best comments I've ever heard.
@somberlight , Thanks for the reply,.I was very obsessed with that show and so its hard to tell if im hearing music and sounds from it in reality or just in my own unconscious.
wow, i realized there was a quote in the authors comment THING just the same time he said that exact line.. i got spook'd
It's called Passacaglia. The song is from the Battlestar Galactica soundtrack :)
'So sick it's almost...German'
Genius
The Stranglers Waltzinblack :)
Hooray for BSG music!
awesome use of bear mccrearys bstar music
Actually there were 2, In 1979 "Alan Davey" a Builder from Milten Keynes Shot and ate Jim Morrison while he was on tour, However the pure awesome that resided in Jim's body consumed Alan and he transformed into the new Jim. no one knew or could tell the difference
@Seiphroth, no, both possibilities are from BSG. it was either the original (Passacaglia), or the same motif in different setting (shape of things to come). (both by bear mcgreary)
This so funny. Can some please tell me which series this is?
I thought Saturday night TV in the United States was bad. The UK is no better. Thank God for DVD's.
Charlie's comparisons are fucking godlike
Charlie Brookner shares with Frankie Boyle the ability to accurately insult someone down the the millimetre.
Every year that Brooker doesn't do an end of year wipe, I watch Frankie's end of year programme instead. Doesn't quite hit the same spot, but it's a good alternative.
@MrSquark It is from Battlestar, I don't know what the theme is called though.
Was that an original orchestral piece at the start of the video or was it the Battlestar Galactica tune used in sequences on board the cylon base star? (it certainly sounded like it)
I'm proud to even nearly almost know nearly about something about nearly almost about you. 10 points.
Found it!
It's Passacaglia from series one OST
no, this was made between the 3rd and 4th series of screenwipe
i wonder if charlie brooker is a fan of fsol
i wouldnt stand too close his face might be catching.
If you pause particularly at 3:13 (although, he is the the video a lot) is that Andrew Robinson from Neighbours?
In 3:08 did they start putting in The Eve of The War by Jeff Wayne, Justin Hayward & Richard Burton in there? :-p
2:01 Colonel Hans Landa in his younger days
@crazyforfood Damn, you are totally right. Such a great score, especially for a TV show.
4:00 if loose cannon Brian Pillman took up a singing career
"It's so sick it's almost German..."
riseup20twelve has it my friend. It's The Stranglers, Waltzinblack.
'gay equivalent of Virtua Fighter'
Brooker should be on BBC One. The man's a genius.
Battlestar Galactica music at the start >
@fragiledog Was this before he started doing Screenwipe?
"He looks like thre different membes of Take That" It's true, he looks like Mark Owen.
1:40 isn't that the song from "Requiem for A Dream" nice detail!
Loving the Battlestar Galactica music
+Rowan J Coleman Loving the War of the worlds music
Thanks, was bugging me
Semi-melted Paul Simon 😂😂
Nice use of Waltzinblack, Charlie.
"So sick it's almost... German". - lol
"Look at him....what is he....what is HE...what exactly is he... he looks like 3 different members of Take That" .
Oh my god I'm dead bwahahaha
its from the culture show, not screenwipe. Was a one off special for them.
What piece of music opens and closes the segment?
which episode is this from? I remember him looking at any dream will do, but not to such a large extent.
Fucking amazing.
LMFAO santa 2000 AHAHA Charlie brooker How your a legend Please do more Screenwipes
@ChrisPrime1bot
yeah, brooker uses the war of the worlds soundtrack a lot in his shows
was this a backdoor pilot for Screenwipe?

"theres the saturday nights that build dreams but are more like Repressed abuse Memories"
