  • Stoicism and Stoic philosophy is an excellent framework on which to build a happier and more resilient way of life. The Emperor or Rome, Marcus Aurelius, left us with his personal journal. Now called the Meditations of Marcus Aurelius, this is one of the few remaining Stoic texts and is full of quotes that inspire a good life, and motivate people to work towards a better life.
    This video is ten of the best lessons from that book.

    Stoicism is a way to liberation, contentment. However it is incessant work in progress. It pays back greatly.

    I think stoicism is simply one tool to use. Applying stoicism helps one to understand what is taking place around them. But what's really important is learning from what's taking place around you and then taking intervening actions to minimize what's taking place if it is undesirable or learning from the mistake and not repeating it. Stoicism is rooted in the reaction here and today and now. But we must move forward Beyond stoicism to learn, apply that knowledge and take remedial actions so that you are making the best of all situations, especially those that are costly. Costly decisions can be frustrating but that's where stoicism comes in to help us through those events. But learning from our mistakes, applying that knowledge and taking advantage of it the next time the same situation arises is what moves us forward in life. In short, let's make lemonade out of lemons!

    In my life experience there are some people who act because of their environment and it is the best they know how. Some others, however, do exactly the meanest most spiteful things because they want to, they enjoy it and wake up every morning to do it again and to more and more people. All people are not the same

    • @visnau1126
      @visnau1126 ปีที่แล้ว

      When he talks about environment it does not necessarily mean just how they were raised, the environment they live in, but also the environment of the mind. A person who is spiteful, and is mean is doing so because of their environment, it is how they think, and how they have learned to think. Whether that is from nature, how their brain is, or nurture, how they were raised doesn't matter in the end, they are still ignorant of themselves and what is good or bad. Marcus says to realize this, that they are ignorant and accept that while they may be they are of the same cloth as you and they don't know better because of how they perceive the world, whether thats from their upbringing or circumstances or not doesnt change the fact that they are ignorant to right and wrong. That it isn't their fault that they have this ignorance, and that the only thing you can control is your own actions and own thoughts/reactions around what they do.
