I can't buy generic Oreo's. Literally the only cookie I have to have name brand other than maybe Milano cookies. Most of the time the generic cookies are just as good.

What state (or country if not the U.S.) are you in where you found Hydrox cookies?? I always thought they tasted like a stale Oreo but..... My mom used to get them for me and when she passed away I started looking for them in my state of Maine and was unsuccessful at finding them.
I havnt had a hydrox since i was a kid..i do recall not liking it as much as an orea when i had it..but i am super picky..I might like it a bit better today.

I'm not sure if Hydrox were cheaper than Oreos, but we had a large family and my Irish immigrant parents never overdid sweets, and they were necessarily very cost conscious. But once in awhile we would have Hydrox, never Oreos. I haven't had Hydrox since those days, but I'd recognize them instantly.
Honestly Oreo didnt copy Hydrox ive never had Hydrox before and nexer will. Oreo was and still my favorite childhood cookies. You can twist open an oreo, hydrox you cant do that. Yeah it may have less sugar than Oreos but Oreos are successful selling wise and etc.
On top of spaghetti, all covered with cheese, I lost my poor meatball, when somebody sneezed It rolled off the table, and onto the floor, and the last time I saw it, it rolled out the door! 🍝
