I like demos like this that show how the guitar sounds in the room (as well as the camera is capable of capturing). The super slick ones, with camera cuts, and where you can tell a bunch of post-processing was done on the guitar track in a DAW, kind of irk me. That said, this sounds awesome. Can't wait to get my Nailbomb alnico (its going into the bridge position of my Suhr Standard Plus in place of the SSH+)
Sounds great. I find a lot of strats too bright for my liking this one is very smooth.
I like this one over the ceramic.
ahh thanks for reminding me! very soon. i do one at the beginning of every month
Clean means clean, no distortion at all.
Great video
It doesn't sound bright and thin like many bridge pickups. Love it. I'm looking for a nice bridge pickup to put in a prs
I've been thinking for a while about getting exact same version of this pickup in my japanese epi lp. Thanks for the review! Damn, it's hard to find a video with this style of playing.
I personally have a Black Dog/The Mule combo in my LP Traditional. Love the combo.
Sounds amazing!!
yeah
550K pot sounds brighter than 500K. Fender standardly uses 250K with single coils, which is substantially darker. If 250K was also used in your guitar as stock, that may account for the big difference in brightness, actually way more than the pickup itself.
I use 250K pots with my Nailbombs in my Ibanez 335 knockoff. Found 500K way too bright. 250K sounds awesome though. Stock it also came with 250K despite humbuggies.
littleredguitars2 Hey dude. Thanks for doing this video. Pretty much got the same guitar and was searching for something for the bridge and this seems perfect. Going to couple it with a single coil sized p90 in the neck.
willing to bet a seymour duncan would suit you well. steve typically uses EMGs (81s i suspect) and when chad used his les pauls, i think they used stock gibson pickups. a gibson burstbucker would probably suit you really well too. i think four year strong uses them too and their guitar sound is killer
i'll be showing it off a lot more in the near future too. and if you're interested in bare knuckles, check out their forums. they have a lot of knowledge and a quite helpful
Very interesting to know about Matt Bellamy using Nailbombs, I just learned the guys from Gojira uses Alnico Nailbombs aswell, anyway; you recommended to get the pot, it is a good idea to get the capacitors that BK suggests as well?
Thank you.
The Black Hawk set is very good, sound very good in my Dean ML79.
Damn sounds really nice.
it was like 150USD. something like that
do you think this pickup would be good for blues/blues rock? can you do a video playing some stuff in that genre maybe?
man! they sound good, how much did you pay for it?
Pickup sounds really good....I've been looking at BKP for a awhile now. I'm hearing this pickup will work well with Basswood. Since I have a lower model Ibanez Rg. one question....How do you like the bass response and dynamics of the pickup?
Both are really good on this pickup but check out their forum and ask what will work best for basswood. I've never used basswood so I'm not 100% sure. Or email bkp directly. They are super smart guys
littleredguitars2
Preciate the response!
hey m8, great video's on your channel! I have a question: how are the settings on your tubescreamer? I'm using a Maxon OD 808 and I'm not yet satisfied with the results. I'm playing a lot of Four Year Strong/ADTR/architects (so you get an idea on what sound I'm aiming)
Hey there, nice sounds. I have a Charvel Custom San Dimas with a Suhr Dough Aldrich pickup, would you recommend the Nailbomb for my other Charvel Custom SD or another BNP? I play in a cover band (70's-80's90's and a bit of 2000-2010's). Thanks
maybe the holy diver pickup
Nice sound. What type of wood is your guitar? What make amp ?
Alder. Mesa boogie roadster
Thanx LRG2
You tried the Ceramic version man? I've been all for the Alnico V but the guitar these are going in has a Mahogany body and Quilted Maple top so I may need to ceramic to tighten and brighten it up a little. What's your opinion on that?
i've used both versions and they completely excel in mahogany. i have a demo of the ceramic version in a les paul on my page. the ceramic version isnt wildly different from the alnico 5. the ceramic is a little more angry. a little bit tighter and rawer. both would work for you though
Hey man, thanks for the info! So as you said, the difference isn't that much different? So how much less are the mids in the Ceramic? I'm huge on my solo's and still want the thick mid tone. Will I still get that with the Ceramic? I'm set on the NailBombs it's just a cause of which magnet I'll go. My soloing style is like Marco Sfolgi, Jon Viggo from Pagans Mind and George Lynch. And my rhythm style is progressive groove djent to really some it up. So I want tight ass rhythms with the mids still there and nice thick mid type solo's. From that info, do I go ceramic or Alnico? Thanks again man
Mitch Coull if you get the chance, I'd send an email to bare knuckle directly. They are super helpful and will know exactly the pickup you need.
Yeah I have man. Just getting an opinion off some other people too. Based on what I said, what would you personally go for?
Mitch Coull well the alnico version has more mids but consider the juggernaut pickup. It's similar to the Nailbomb but now as raw. A bit smoother and is amazing. I have some demos of it on my page
i have no clue what you just said
I see a little iced earth in you right hand...
yeah my hand is pretty cold
Question, I'm into kinda similar stuff pop punk wise, do you prefer the Nailbomb or Rebel Yell in a les paul?
either one would work well in a les paul for that style. but probably the nailbomb a little more.
littleredguitars2
Cool cheers!
Any clue to what model that fender is? Cuz I dig it. Is it a string through hardtail as well?
I modified a Tom Delonge strat. Yes it's a string through hardtail
littleredguitars2 I figured as much, this was the first video of yours I saw, always loved the colour and dig the rw fretboard with 70s style headstock. It's a cool Mashup since they're almost always maple boards. also do you think this pickup would be too bright in a maple body guitar?
Question. A 'clean' channel means that there's little to no distortion in the output, correct? I'm new to most of these terms.
Yes
@littleredguitars2 whens your next Q&A?
you said its brighter than the invader so it might sound better in a guitar with a mahogany body like a les paul :)
it would suit a mahogany guitar a lot better
Where did you get it at? Off their website or somewhere else?
Yes. From their website
What's the song you were playing at 2:56?
Call BK and ask for your %, you just sold them a NB Alnico Bridge! LOL
glad to help!
just a couple chords
Is this an alder body strat?
yes
Paramore blink182!
Do you prefer the nailbomb instead of the rebel Yell? I can't decide the right the right bridge pickup to combine with the VHII
Carlos SanAvi totally depends on your guitar and what sort of sound youre goin for
littleredguitars2 I'll put it in a swamp ash body guitar, want a versatile sound, from funk, blues, jazz to rock, metal and that stuff, that's why I choose the VHII but can't decide between the nailbomb or rebel yell
Carlos SanAvi id recommend the crawler over either of those to be quite honest
What a lovely strat...Fender, get off your ass and start making these again!
Nice riffs man, I liked Juggernaut better though, less compressed or stg about it... I don't wanna be an ass but why don't you get a better recording set up, nice playing nice gear, it shouldn't be wasted bethinked I. Cheers...
