The world is much more interesting than I had initially thought. I especially like the evolution of the technology over the ages, as well as its impact on cultures. I really enjoyed listening to your reading of Doll Girl Meets Dead Guy, so I'm looking forward to seeing more of this world.
In the stories I wrote as a kid/teen/early 20something I really never even went back as far as what I've been writing so far, but when I started writing novels I felt like I had to go back to more of the "ye olde fantasy world" days both so readers could understand the progression and for the sake of the themes. But...as far as I'm concerned I haven't even gotten to the real stuff yet, haha! I'm glad it sounds interesting to you and I also hope to keep doing the read-alouds for every book as they come out of Kindle Unlimited.
I can attest that any of the books are a good entry point because although I prefer to read chronologically, I stumbled into the Hidden Lands in reverse order and loved them! Started with Doll Girl Meets Dead Guy, then read the trilogy, then Broken Queen. I'm really looking forward to the sequel and will happily read anything that follows! I'm so grateful that you've written a cozy world where it feels "safe" to explore some of those distressing themes like the plight of Fanarlem. You do a wonderful job at balancing high stakes and comfort.
No it isn't. It is the "too bleak stopped caring" trope made flesh. I noped out after two seasons and a few chapters, and while I admit that he is Master of POV, his World and his Plots are an uninspired, bitter and cynical mix of 70s and 80s speculative fiction tropes on the scaffolding of the 100 years war and the war of the roses and the Real wars got all the attention I am willing to spend on murderous sociopathic Dynasties 😅
I did enjoy getting to listen to dead guy meets doll girl! Even though I tend not to finish audio books. I have looked on my library app and they only had one book I think so I read one of the to market fantasy’s.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it!! Yes, I'm not really sure how many libraries have my books, probably not a ton since I haven't really tried to market to libraries that much.
My biggest question about these books is how spicy are they? Many of your more written-to-market books seem pretty spicy, and I'm curious if that trend continues to these or not
Not very. The Cursed Soul trilogy has the most because it was an attempt to write to market when I didn't fully understand what writing to market was. If I remember correctly, I think The Last Dragon Queen has three spicy scenes and Doll Girl has one, and they're not really written to be gratuitous. Honestly the characters are too real to me to write VERY spicy scenes. There is some inherent suspension of belief in most spicy romance.
Really enjoy hearing you chat about your world!! 💗

Just finished The Broken Queen. Now I know what to read next!

That's so good to hear! That is one thing I really hope to accomplish.
I think you are faster than George RR Martin because you actually like the World you've built ..
Well...yeah, I guess Westeros is not the most delightful place to spend that many years

Love the premise of The Hidden Lands!
Thank you!!

It's a good weird place to be.

Oops, I meant the Broken Queen. The Last Dragon Queen was the original title! My brain is tired
